What is the best way to marathon Fire Emblem?

Just saw a youtuber who played every Final Fantasy game in a row, but many of his rankings were influenced by features not in the original release, and were instead added by remakes. It made me think, it really fair to put an old game above a less old game, if you actually played a more modern remake of the old game? And then I realized, he already spent 4 years on this, it’s not worth it to play every game and its multiple remakes separately.

And so I started to wonder… What is the best way to marathon every Fire Emblem in a row, if you’re allowing official and fanmade remakes and hacks? What remakes actually improve the original games and which ones add bloat for the sake of bloat like the infamous hack that puts Awakening’s Skills and Thracia Capture and assorted FEH stuff into FE6?

not sure why you thought to include this part, so get rid of it and try again

I’m a strong advocate of the idea that original releases of a videogame tend to be better than their remakes/remasters.

The number of exceptions to this rule that I can count are very few. Namely Shadows of Valentia, Trials of Mana, and maybe War of the Lions?

(Dragon Quest 8 on 3ds is better if you install a bunch of mods, but without those I think the ps2 version is better.)

Bizarrely enough I had more fun playing the first few chapters of FE1 on nes than playing the respective remade chapters in fe11

no, a remake is a separate game

years? I guess FF could take you a long time if you play EVERY port, but no way FE should take you more than a few months

just download, play them and find out? Shouldn’t take that long.

But just for the sake of it I’ll give you my opinion on the official remakes. I prefer FE3 because it looks and sounds better than FE11 to me, and Kris is lame so 12 is out too. Echoes is great. FE1 and FE2 are still kinda fun unless you have ADHD.

Fan remakes shouldn’t be judged in the same way. They’re more like a fun “what if?” kind of thing, not a product that’s supposed to replace the original because Nintendo decided old games cannot be sold anymore. Be nice.

Id personally add romancing saga 1&2 as well as Dragon Quest 7 to that list of better remakes

If your rating the series then you need to go thru original releases. If your rating FE6, then remakes that bring out stuff that the original game failed to do is fair

i dont think theres really a good way to answer this question?? like theres zero metric by which you can order hacks and mainline games together unless youre actively shitposting

What is the best way to marathon Jasonposts?

Just saw a slopposter post every Jasonpost in a row, but many of his threads were bloated by subjects not in the name of the title, and were instead added to pad the word count.

Eitherway please kindly keep to yourself any kind of snide remarks towards any hacks of any sort unless you’re actively giving criticism to such a game on such a thread, because that just gives malicious hitpost vibes to your thread.

Also if you want to ““marathon”” Fire Emblem, you play the entire saga, start to finish. The games that enter the remake grounds (and multi-path games) while ground of discussion, would most likely enter on “Well, you need to play it” eitherway.

Fangames shouldn’t be included if what you’re doing is “Play the original saga” and youe objective is specifically that.

That would’ve been worse.

Fire Emblem fans when Fire Emblem is discussed on the Fire Emblem website

He played EVERY Final Fantasy game including the MMOs. http://youtube.com/watch?v=B7EYkGRit2A

He also sounds like the type of player to buy games and play them as they’re intended instead of emulating them on retroarch at 2x speed with a rewind and 999x speed hotkey while occasionally using a save editor or cheat engine to bypass mandatory grinding sessions. Can’t relate.

all of you who hate these topics
have you considered

Oh, there IS a version of that that can be applied to users and not threads! Good. I hope it doesn’t have one of those stupid “show blocked message” links like EVERY OTHER GOD-DAMN SITE ruining the entire function. For me, at least, who is not who needs to use it.
