What got you into Fire Emblem?

The same thing happened to me! I beat fe7 lyn mod and then went to play fe8 because I thought I was done. Only after beating fe8 did I go back and try to replay fe7 only to discover that eliwood mode existed.

I was born in 2002 and grew up with a Nintendo DS. I had one of these R4 cards with lots of games on them, that a family friend put on there. Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon happened to be one of them, and was insanely fun for me. I still remember hoarding all my special weapons because i didn’t want to waste them… only to realise i was on the final map, and still using exclusively iron weapons. After that i started looking up FE stuff on YouTube and stumbled across a german youtuber called LooksLikeLink, who played the GBA FE games. After that i tried them out myself on an online emulator site, and the rest is history.

Still to this day FE has captivated me and brought me joy, fun, friends across the world, knowledge (through gamedev), and even a bit of money through my own streams.
I don’t even know who exactly put Shadow Dragon on that card all those years back, but if it wasn’t for them i might not be here in the state i am today, so thank you whoever it was.

I got into Fire Emblem through a youtuber named whoisthisgit. I think it was the video titled Jaffar Is A Man!

I got into the franchise when I was about 9 or 10. I was playing my GBA a lot since I’d travel with my Uncle while he went on work trips and I loved FF Tactics for the Ps1(first game I ever beat) and FF Tactocs Advanced and I was searching for games at Rhinos (if anybody remembers that) and the box art for FE7 looked cool and it had that cool tactics gameplay I adored so much. So I picked it up and never looked back.

Back when the 3DS first came out, if you bought it before the price drop, you could download like 10 or so GBA and older games from the e-shop as like, “ambassador games” or something. Among those was the Sacred Stones. Idk what happened, but something clicked in me and I poured hours in to that, even actually doing creature campaign skirmishes to play with the postgame units lol.

I became aware of the series because of Smash Bros. Melee (I thought Marth and Roy were Zelda characters at first…)

I didn’t take the plunge until later when Ike was announced for Brawl, and I had decided to main him (guess I just liked his design?). FE10 was a brutal game to start with (and it was my first SRPG), so I played FE7 in tandem on an emulator because it had a real tutorial. I thought Wallace was the most awesome unit in the game.

I was so hooked I played every game from FE1 to FE8 shortly after (not in that order), and FE11-12 when they released in Japan. The chapter maps on FEWoD got me through most of these games.

I joined in when a close friend of mine bought FE7 on the Wii U virtual console.

When I saw it, I thought “wait, is that the dark green haired girl as an assist trophy from Smash Bros?”. So I bought it on my own Wii U and thought it was CRAZY fun! (got me entirely through 2020…).

My brother’s friend who has excellent taste in videogames lent FE9 to me for a few years.

He’s also the one that introduced me to Sonic Adventure 2, Pokemon Stadium 2, Tales of Symphonia, Super Mario Sunshine, and Smash Bros Brawl.

He’s a pretty cool guy.

Sorry for bumping this thread, but as to how I got into Fire Emblem, well, I don’t actually really remember lol. I think it was when I also got into browsing TV Tropes when I wanted to learn more about FE. This was at most late 2021. The first FE game that I went into to experience was Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. After that, I’m here now as a member of this community.

Marth and Roy in Melee was technically my first exposure to Fire Emblem, but I didn’t think too much about it at the time until years later when I watched MageKnight404 vids and Mangs as well. This is where I got hooked on FE and its nuances. I downloaded and played FE7 first, but I never actually beat it. Shadow Dragon became my first completed FE, joined Serenes for a bit, and migrated here as I got older.

What got me into Fire Emblem was my friend’s 3DS. I was never wealthy enough to have a console of my own, but I had friends in middleschool who did and I got to play on their console from time to time. When I stumbled on Awakening I immediately fell in love with the cute little 2D map sprites and the combat itself wasn’t bad! I was just a snotty kid who liked the way the characters moved but I guess it grew to more (and better) games of the series and now into projects made by the community.

A girl showed me her fates copy where she had married kaden, probably a hacked copy bc she had mikoto as well, made me want to try it and i started with birthright and watched playthroughs of awakening and feh, its only till i downloaded a emulator on my shitty tablet and played fe7 that i got into fe for real, well it was exactly when i saw linus reed for the first time and then he got his glow up in feh and i got hooked on for life, so basically linus reed is my reason for fire emblem and i’m not ashamed

I found it while browsing hacks its the way i learned patching on mobile aswell which is nice but what really got me into it is the PMEs which i always wanted to make a lord for but when i always find one the slot is already taken and i dont know how to make a hack :p)

What got me into fire emblem was roy in smash bros brawl and the lyndis trophy.

Friend in highshcool was telling me about some weird “fire emblem” (we weren’t speaking english at that, so name sounded extra weird) turn based strategy game. Well, I’d already been into SRPGs so gave it a try at his house. Was emulated fe7.
