Y’all ever wonder if Rutger and Galle from FE6 are estranged brothers?
Picture this, a Sacaean and a Bernite soldier fall in love before the events of FE7. The Bernite is stationed on the Sacae border, a loyal soldier to the Kingdom and a dutiful parent at that, instilling values of responsibility and loyalty into their firstborn.
Its not long before the young couple have their second child, but the attempted assassination of Zephiel and usurpation of Desmond happens. Once the new King is on the throne, the military is reorganized, and the Bernite is called away from their deployment. They take their firstborn with them, leaving the infant second child with their Sacaean spouse.
The firstborn is raised to be loyal to the crown, with him and his parent having sacrificed half their family in its name. To betray it would be to leave his only family, and spit on the sacrifice his parent made.
Meanwhile, the second born is raised in Bulgar after the Bernite left. His parent moved them to the trade center in search of better opportunities, integrating them into the beating heart that was Sacae’s cultural center.
One brother was raised within the bosom of its military, the other was scarred by its ugly face. They are both defined by their Bern heritage, centering their lives around it. The firstborn loses everything through his devotion, the second born finds a new way in life by abandoning it.
