Hi, I have notice that weapons management change depending the game. Lates we have unbreakable weapons, but we had other games with breakable weapons and in New mystery we can actually combine weapons. Which one you think its better and why?
I also like the hint of strategy this has.
Like the drawback of combining these weapons that if you do only one person can use it.
But yeah, I don’t think combining has much in terms of drawbacks.
While having weapons with only 3 uses left in the convoy may have some charm I do think combining is great, yeah.
I don’t like combining weapons because it doesn’t make sense physically and just seems like a very arbitrary game abstraction. Of course you wouldn’t fight with a horseslayer and a short spear and a steel lance IRL, but for some reason my suspension of disbelief stops at turning 2 nearly broken axes into a less broken axe. tl;dr, Immersion RUINED, this is like when they put pronouns in star fields or whatever
I think Fates by far did it best - and it made me actually think about which weapon to use and to take drawbacks into consideration.
Big Problem with weapon durability i have is that FE generally throws money at you and the end it just becomes a chore inventory management. There are exceptions, like Thracia and RD part 3, but even then, after a while you are wasting more time with full inventories rather than thinking about why to use said weapon.
I’m against weapons being no limits but I’ve warmed up to not having durability, and wouldn’t mind another Fates take. One improvement I’ll suggest is that Silver’s debuffs be to the weapon based on uses, like -2 Mt/-5 Hit per four uses (up to four times). You could reasonably extend this type of pseudo-durability to other weapons like the Rapier, or give Killers a decay in crit chance with every critical hit.
Another solution I’ve thought about is regenerative durability, which is like repairable durability except it happens passively between maps. Stronger tools could regain fewer uses. Admittedly, this would be much trickier in execution.
