Top 10 favorite boss design through out the Fire Emblem series (not counting major antagonist)

Fire Emblem is one of my favorite video game series from the characters the stories and it’s gameplay. But one of the things that really fascinating me are the bosses more pacifically their designs. If a boss character has a really good design it can really help them stand out and make them memorable. So these are 10 of my favorite boss design through the series. Ps I won’t count major antagonist like Lyon the Black Knight or Thales.

The one-off bosses from Fates. All of them except for Omozu and Lloyd/Llewelyn, but including non-capturable ones like Kotaro, Kilma and I guess Arete if you want to count her, since she hardly exists at all. Unironically some of my favorite designs in the entire game. I am so glad that the capture system is a thing in that game just because I get to have those designs in my team instead of the proper ones.
If I had to pick a favorite among them… Kumagera looks like an absolute badass of a war veteran. That broken mask is too cool, the pose makes him look super intimidating, and he even pulls off a fine soul patch. Yeah, him, I think. But really, all of them are great.

Sigune from Binding Blade looks great too. She looks more mature and devious than most pegasus knights in the series, which is a nice change of pace. Among the two falcoknight one-off bosses in the series (that I can remember right now, correct me if I’m wrong), she beats Catalena by a mile. Catalena looks rather generic, outside of her gold armor.

Eagler from Blazing Blade is one I’ve always been fond of. FE7 was my first FE, and I remember I always thought it was a shame he wasn’t playable, because he looks really cool. Man rocks that goatee.

Acheron from Three Houses is hilarious. I saw him pre-release when the portraits from the game were leaked and I remember wishing so bad that he were playable, even though I had a feeling he wouldn’t be. He looks like a cowardly idiot, which is quite fitting.

Largo from Thracia. He’s got a great beard. Clearly Kaga agreed with me, seeing how many times he used the portrait.

Orlo and his clones from Binding Blade (which you’ve mentioned as well). They pull off a “seems like a decent enough fellow, but something about their eyes gives me the creep” look rather well. It suits Orlo the best because he actually does try to pose as a good priest, while in reality he just uses that as a shield to avoid persecution.

Straying a bit from FE proper, if you don’t mind me doing so, there’s Gorzevalus from Berwick Saga, clones, variants and all. I just think the portrait looks super great. That helmet is amazing. I wish I had a helmet like that.

That’s a few examples. All of the Fates one-offs probably pushes the list a bit higher than “top 10”, but well, I figured I’d give a shoutout to as many throwaways as I could think of. It’s not every day that you get to talk about these goons.
