I think it depends on the song. Each song is credited and some ask for permission. Some of those midi’s are so old that the people who made them may not even be contactable anymore.
Pretty sure you need the “native instrument patch”, which you can find in FEBuilder. Once that’s installed, it should be straightforward to get the sounds you want.
These ‘.s’ files are pre-set to loop w/ correct instrumentation.
I went through the posts above and made sure that the files were submitted by whoever made them insertable. There was only one instance of somebody submitting another person’s work and I went ahead and removed it. I know it’s not a frequent issue (there’s been 1 in ~400 submissions), but going forward I’d like to ask people not to submit other peoples’ work without showing their permission (I don’t know why you would in the first place, but here we are).
Not a submission to the repo directly, but I found this link a while ago to a bunch of obscure NES MIDIs of varied quality. Definitely worth taking a look.
I checked the repository, and it was my post that submitted Lifelight (edgy version) by Sme.
I only shared that here because Sme specifically made that for me, because I asked him to, and because he’s also very pro-public assets, I didn’t have an issue posting it here.
