The mercenary I didnt hire was the brigand. Is the one you don’t hire become the boss along with Nestor?
Why is the soldier hire sometimes disappearing in some chapters? He said he has business to do or wtv but is it ever clarified?
Guys, im playing on patch 2.3 and Lopez does not join my party?
I played close to release and got distracted by life, so I logged into FE Universe and pulled the latest 2.3 version. Unzipped just the 2.3 and patched it on my FE8 ROM.
I felt like I remembered getting Lopez a lot earlier. And I thought I was doing a good job of noting all the available units for a majority of the game so far, then I decided to try amd see what map I recruit him on and I didnt get him.
Did I skip over a dialog choice somewhere? Ive watched 2 YouTube videos and it doesnt look like a choice. It looks like he recruits himself to join the fight.
Edit: i didnt talk to him in the earlier chapter. Straight up didnt even realize. I hope theres another thief somewhere, its too late now.
Oh yeah i forgot, didn’t Myu end up leading the new rebellion against Zephiel and slime him after the story? Lmao. Poor man can’t catch a break even after he wins
There isn’t a dedicated Discord server, but Saint Rubenio’s DMs are open.
As for your question, the character you can save is Pheme. On a second(+) playthrough, if you get Pheme to tier 2 (sniper, mamluk, warrior, or bounty hunter, IIRC) before the end of the Polonius map, she’ll be rendered comatose instead of killed. She’ll recover and join the party several chapters later. If you do this on a first playthrough, you just get your master seal refunded.
There are no other thieves, but the assassin and artificer you recruit later also have Locktouch. In general, though, I didn’t find Locktouch terribly necessary, because the game gives you lots of Master Keys.

Has anyone had an issue with chapter 18 where after the initial cutscenes with the Hierophant’s son talking to Elias, the game will fade to black and then do nothing? Like the scene is over but it isn’t transitioning to the next one, its just a black screen and nothing happens. Idk what to do.
never mind, I think it resolved itself. I just resumed the chapter, and it brought me to the moment before it ended, and it played out normally. I changed some settings so that might have helped too.

Found Pheme dead and that broke me a little. She didn’t deserve that… then the next two maps are kind of hard… cold

I just got to ch11 and I must say, having Pheme be impossible to save on a first playthrough just feels scammy. I was playing blind and got her to Archer level 15 and her stats were bonkers, and then shes just… taken away from me? Trainee units generally take a lot of favoritism to get going, so to take away the player’s trainee unit feels like a complete rug pull, especially when there’s no tradeoff or benefit for having trained her.I think a neat reward for the player having trained her (lets say, Archer or Fighter level 10+), Kyra could unlock the “Resolve” skill, or simply have an event where she has a moment of Resolve and gains +2 def/res, anything to make Pheme’s death less of a wtf moment to the player for training her.Idk, just feelsbadman
You should probably blur the spoiler, i know a lot of people here are already aware, but at least in this case you should be considerate about potential new people. As for Pheme’s death, IMO the fact that she’s a Trainee that gets killed is what makes it more impactful, because you wouldn’t think that someone like her would ger killed like that and that catches people who already know the ins and outs of the tropes surrounding the franchise and other general works. Yeah it sucks that you seemingly get nothing out of the investment, but the same can be said for the traitor unit, also you get refunded your Master Seal if you used one in Pheme so you don’t get fully “scammed” per se
If you lose something concrete in gameplay, then that makes you one of the lucky ones, for having the opportunity to Feel Something. It’s not as though even a trained Pheme can’t be instantly replaced, or that the game will actually be significantly harder if you put experience into her.
You also get fiadh right before she dies too, and she’s excellent at base and stays great the whole game, so from a unit perspective you can immediately replace her.
Anyway on an unrelated note anybody know if the green coin does anything , or is it just a final haha funny?
It sells for 1 more gold than the regular coins! Probably. I’m pretty sure that went a long time without actually being the case, but I thiiiink I fixed it in one of the later versions?
Being serious, it’s basically just a funny way to keep count of your postgame completions. You get one for every postgame lap starting with the second one.
