The Hag in White [COMPLETE]

Heya, does this hack have a Discord server?

It does not. I didn’t want the hassle of managing a discord server. If you have questions or comments, you can post them here or send me a DM!

I guess she was? She kinda felt like one to me. I actually thought Aura had Nicaea’s role as the usual Pegasus Knight and I was kinda happily surprised because Nicaea was much more interesting. In her first appearance, Aura felt like the generic endearing Pegasus knight and while I like the archetype, I liked Nicaea’s arc about revenge and forgiveness much more interesting. Besides, the cast had enough purely endearing characters (Orlaith, Pluto and Vasiliki).

Cybele was the one character I didn’t vibe all that much with, to be fair. I absolutely loved Nicaea (especially with her camp conversation with Agari) but I felt killing Aura was brutal enough and killing Cybele too felt a bit redundant, after.

I still liked her for what’s worth. But Idk if there wasn’t a better direction for Cybele’s character to feel fresher

The triplets are a play on the pegasus knight sisters archetype from mainline FE, though, aren’t they? That archetype requires three sisters, so I figured they were all conceptualized together.

(The archive is now up to 7x, btw.)

Oh, yeah, it completely makes sense!

Still, I don’t know if Cybele could’ve had a better role in the story. Being killed by Nicaea like Aura felt a bit redundant.

Thanks for the update !

EDIT: There’s a slight formating issue with Demeter’s dialogue with Ruben

Whoops! Fixed now.

My understanding is that initially it was just the fake-out with Aura/Nicaea, and then only later Rubenio decided to complete the reference and so added Cybele to make a trio.

You’re square on the money, in fact. Only Aura and Nicaea existed until after the main campaign was done. A playtester suggested adding a third just to complete the reference. At the time, the chapter 22 red gem was on a generic wyvern lord that people tended to miss. Thus, I thought I’d kill two birds with one stone and signpost the red gem with a third sister miniboss.

So yeah, if she feels awfully redundant, that’s because she is. She exists to complete the pegasus trio reference and to make the red gem more visible, and that’s it.

As a side note, I initially created Aura with the intent to have her be the playable pegasus knight. Theorycrafting with her quickly hit a wall, though, as generic pegasus knights are one of my least favorite FE archetypes and I couldn’t come up with anything interesting for her. Then I came up with the Nicaea concept, and the rest is history.

Ah got it, i was just wondering if there were small patches being released as i saw a playthrough that used unpromoted Scymerius (?) and had a cool obscured face palette, meanwhile mine didnt, guess it was just removed later and not the opposite.

Interesting! I’ve added an “explaining the joke” note to the 4x archive.

Theres a square in the bottom left corner in chapter 2 that blinks with an arrow. Typically this marker notes something of importance, but nothing I do seems to trigger an event to occur. Am I missing something?

Which one is chapter 2 again? Is that Begona’s fort? If so, that square would be where the eventual thief that shows up escapes to

I believe that’s the tile that the enemy thief will escape to once he’s done looting.

Makes the most sense to me. Thanks everyone.

OMG, Zephiel has a special defeat quote if you beat him with Elias to account for how it makes his standard defeat quote inaccurate. That is exactly what I would have done. This is how you know writers are doing it for the love of the game, folks.

I don’t get it :skull:

I played FE6 a long time ago and while I love Lilina/Roy/Guinivere/Idunn, I always found Zephiel to be super lackluster/boring so I don’t know all that much about him.Is he saying Roy was a toddler or is it a reference to killing him using Fae?

Every version of the game available has been released here, and is still available in the “older versions” folder on the download.

That’s really strange, though. Scymerius has had special animations in all classes since the hack’s release. In fact, I just checked and they’re still there. I’m not quite certain why they wouldn’t work for you.

It’s a reference to one of my previous hacks, Eckesachs. In fact, all three of them on 8x are references to their incarnations in my past hacks (or lack thereof) rather than their official ones. Though it’s mostly relevant for Zephiel, as it directly references his fate at the end of Eckesachs.

Stumbling upon this naturally was a highlight of my second time through Postgame to quotefarm all of the unit v. recruitable version of that unit convos. Mostly checked because I thought it would be funny to make his death quote glaringly inaccurate, very much was not expecting custom dialogue lmao.

Also, Isosceles Mirage is up! I’ve been waiting for this one since you’ve started the project. Turns out I’d already found most of the convos there already but it was nice filling in the gaps with those I missed. Definitely my favorite part of postgame.

Thanks again for doing this, it’s super cool getting to read through all the niche interactions I missed.

And I am done! Postgame campaign and Chapter 16x are up.

Once again, thanks so much for this amazing hack and its incredible writing, Rubenio. A big part of why I wanted to do this was to see all the optional dialogue I missed, and I was not disappointed. You demonstrate a true love and passion for your craft, and I’m glad I was able to make some of it more accessible.

Ooh, gotcha! Yeah, I noticed Tiffani as the pupil in Lyon’s camp. It made me super happy to see her :))

Does it mean that Lyon triumphing over Fortmoortis and becoming Magvel’s autocrat is Dark Stone’s cannon ending? RIP Caellach & Glen if it is, I loved their unexpected friendship but I’m a big fan of Lyon nonetheless
