Just played 4 chapters of this game by far and its a good one and every playable if you love a challenge ( a must play download game )
Thanks! Glad I managed to achieve that effect there. Camp was a handy tool to do this sort of stuff while keeping the chapter text on the lighter side.
Big thanks to everyone else too. This is one heck of an initial reception. Consider me thoroughly flattered, haha.
congrats dude I always enjoy your writing
SO whens the Henning dlc heh heh
Henning is sadly not in this hack, but there is no shortage of goobers to enjoy!
I noticed a lot of very deliberate and very effective choices with the base convos in general. I would like to ask you to be worse at this in the future so I can actually bench units for more than two chapters.
I’m using Mgba and on story mode if that helps
How to provide the kyra
I’ve been in this hack less than 2 hours, I’m in chapter 2, and a friend I was letting watch me play has already named Apate both “Wolverine” and “Granny Crime” because of Renewal and her chapter 2 addition of an Unlock staff.
she doesn’t. fe1 inspired you see
try playing the game
Ahahahaha. Well, I’ll keep your request in mind.
Damn. mGBA is the one I and most others use and it has caused no issues like this for anyone else.
I can only think of two things: check in the settings if “vba compatibility” is activated, and restart the chapter and see if the softlock persists. Sorry for the inconvenience.
So what you’re saying is Ruben is too good? wow
Hi I just no-lifed the hack yesterday from morning to midnight (and still not done with postgame and ng+!) and I just want to say this might be one of the best hacks ever made. Easily on my top 3 alongside other masterpieces like Cerulean Crescent and TMGC. Absolutely fantastic work, charming characters, world, unit design, class design, map design, weapon design. The relationship chart between characters would go absolutely nutty with how connected this world feels.
10/10. Just fucking 10 out of 10.
Wow. That’s incredibly high praise. Hadn’t expected I’d be compared to giants of the hacking scene like those, let alone this soon! Thanks a lot.
The idea of making a relationship chart did cross my mind a couple times pre-release. Maybe at some point down the line.
You absolutely deserve the praise
By the way, about a certain unit you get in lategame
Can you get more staves beyond Mend with Tiresias if you get beyond C rank? I thought he’d be able to get more since I got him to B on chapter 22 I think and later to S in chapter 24 but he never got more.
Tiresias does indeed only go up to Mend. He actually says it himself that Apate told him “it’s as good it’s going to get”.
Apate unfortunately hoards all the good staves lol
Damn, ok, good to know
Alright, I’ve hit Chapter 6 and I’ve just got to get my thoughts and feelings out while they’re fresh in my head. This will likely be in zero order and I apologize for that.
Chapter 2 is a masterclass in selling the in-universe horror of an unlimited use Unlock staff in a world without staff magic. Frankly, the fact that utility magic beyond merely healing would also be alien to the setting flew over my head until Apate busted out the Unlock staff, and the in-universe reactions to it were great execution.
Further, less spoilery thoughts on Chapter 2 because I found it delightful. I deeply regret doing the conversation between Kyra and Kairos at the beginning of the chapter as opposed to near the end where it would’ve been a lot funnier. Still, it sold me pretty hard on Kairos being one of my faves, even though he’s fallen off a bit as Fire Brand uses have dwindled.
My Lopez has gotten about three or four dead levels, not that they matter much, because a lot of them were gotten shortly before I had to reset Chapters 3 and 4 to keep him from dying. He’s lucky to do damage to an enemy unit, let alone kill them. I have never been fond of spoonfeeding units kills to the extreme that Lopez demands from me. I can’t stop using him. I can’t stop feeding him kills. I can’t stop making all this money. Someone please send help.
On the subject of the alleged traitor. I’m gonna do the thing I do when I watch mysteries and forensic dramas with my wife and just wildly call a shot long before I’m expected to have an idea of the culprit. I’m thinking it’s Pheme. We know Soter has reservations about harboring a heretic and Phobos has demonstrated a willingness to squeal under pressure, but I don’t think it’s them. Pheme is an established gossip and busybody, was sent away during Chapters 3 and 4 to keep an eye on the inquisitors - something that ironically gives her the means to leak information to the inquisition. However, I don’t think that this is malicious on Pheme’s part. I think what’s happening is that Pheme is telling her brother about the events of Chapter 2 and later their whereabouts in Chapter 5, and he’s in turn passing this information along to the inquisition. This is mostly all from the gut, but I wanted to get it out there.
I really love the body diversity in the cast so far. With women of colour like Kyra and Agari, elderly women like Apate and Euphraxia, hell, we meme on Lopez but it’s genuinely kinda cool to see playable characters who aren’t conventionally attractive but are just treated as like… normal? Lopez’s ugliness isn’t extraordinary or some cornerstone of who he is, it’s just a facet of him, and I think that’s nice.
Base conversations! I loved how you did special conversations in The Dark Stone (told myself I was gonna join FEU and post in that thread once I finished it, but then I had to get my computer replaced and lost my progress
) and this feels like a great evolution and quality of life improvement over that. I feel less pressured to use units I’m not attached to in order to prop up units that I am attached to, and the fact that so far the base conversations have been effecting three units at a time means that there’s opportunities for character interaction and development that a one-on-one conversation wouldn’t allow, and it’s more likely that the conversations will benefit a unit I’m using.
Chapter Five, the help text told me there would be no reward for ensuring all the bandits survived. I believed the help text when it told me there would be no reward. Why am I surprised when I did it anyways and there was no reward? Ah well.

10 leadership stars my ass
