The Hag in White [COMPLETE]

fwiw i found Agari to excel earlygame with her good base strength and base weapon ranks of D in both sword and axe. this gives her a pretty fun niche of being able to use any of the effective weapons available early on (armorslayer hammer halberd zanbato). there’s quite a decent amount of damage lines that only worked on 0% growths because i have a unit with high mobility and strong damage output with effective weaponry

lategame unit spoiler

If you want an easy way to make use of Resolve on Lorenzo, you can actually chip him down on final 1 when he’s still red to below half HP. after he is recruited he will have Resolve active automatically.

Lorenzo with resolve goes insanely hard, like with the s rank lance you get a few chapters earlier he can literally OHKO some annoying enemies at base. this looks dangerous, but fructuoso is right at the bottom there ready to pull the other falco towards him, thus keeping lorenzo safe

I can agree that the Dark classes for the most part feel better than the Holy/Anima ones, that’s… Not what I was talking about though?
And that aside, I’d argue that… One of the reasons Dark Dragoon is so much better than White Dragoon is because… No one really wants to be a White Dragoon, not because Anima spells are mostly weaker than Dark ones, but because none of the Holy Cavs want MAGIC access that much, they’d ALL prefer the all physical class.

Or Glaucus, who is teetering on the edge, has an option to leave and come back a flyer.

That is why I said that the good anima spells are bad in them. The highest magic growth in a holy rider is 35 with Glaucus and the highest base is 13 in Pericles, a prepromote (I am not counting Soter because his awful speed means that he is way better as a general tanking). And the existence of witch is the nail on the coffin because you can’t even copium with mounted anima mage for White dragoon.
Alonso is the only unpromoted that can maybe consider it because high speed usually goes better with 7 move than 5.
It is like promoting the unpromoted fliers to malig. The class isn’t bad but they can’t use it well due to low magic.

You could even argue this is a game where at least as many of the armors are fine staying armors and going into General as like taking the Dragoon class (If not preferring it), and General ITSELF is quite good and appealing, because characters like Alonso get a new and better magic type, and characters like Raleigh don’t really have the Speed to be a player phase delete button (Bows are still nice on her though). On top of that, many chapters don’t have terribly tight timed objectives. This basically leaves the two unique Generals, Eupraxia and Tiresias, General Eupraxia joins during one of the hardest chapters in the game and is strong enough to be a star in it, in spite of her unusual Sword Rank being less desirable than Lances or Axes. Tiresias remains a Staffer regardless of your promotion choice, unless you’re going for a crit build the higher caps and Canto+ on a Staffer and an Est are genuinely appealing.

I LIKE the balance in this game. It genuinely feels REALLY good when Cavalry are not across the board some of the best units basically entirely because horses exist. It feels REALLY good when armor doesn’t feel like it’s there to cripple a unit. And frankly, Mage Armors in general are rad, we need more of them in general, IntSys are cowards for not giving us them.

True! A lot of the better units are infantry, namely Kyra, Fiadh, and the staffers. The armor knights are really well balanced too, with Raleigh, Orlaith, Alonso, and Telemus being viable picks long term.

Is really worth general in Tiresias when he losses a point of move for his healing and he isn’t fighting with anything besides light magic due to his non existentskill anyway.

Canto+ means General is more mobile on any turn he isn’t moving the full 6 tiles, and Reposition offers an additional utility option alongside staff use. Better bulk gains also means he can survive attacks better when needed. It’s certainly at least competitive with Bishop.

Apate is and always will be the best healer for multiple reasons, mostly Physic and Powerstaff, which Tiresias will never get. Tiresias is Extra Healing, not a main source of it. It’s also disingenuous to say he “Loses one movement” on promotion, this isn’t a vanilla Cav to Great Knight situation where they LITERALLY lose movement. He doesn’t gain more movement, there is no loss. Literally everything about General is better EXCEPT for the movement and the Res cap. Even if you don’t use Lances and Axes, although funnily enough, I found it entirely possible to pull 100% hit rates if I gave him a Reaver weapon. There is also something to say about the Bishop skill of +15 Crit being fundimentally mediocre at best, because the rock bottom Skill that makes Lances and Axes impractical most of the time also means his crit rates will be rock bottom and the skill MIGHT bring him up to the level of people with an actual Skill stat. Canto+ in comparison, is amazing for positioning.

chapter 16 and that aftermath sure was something O … O,

the correct answer is having the blind guy in a full body suit of armor is objectively funnier and thus the superior option

Warrior Pheme is even more amazing. And then we have Elias with a mech in the postgame

Game’s so nice, I’m playing it twice. I’ve got a few goals in mind now, mostly seeing if I can save Pheme, seeing what happens if I get the swiftsole from her brother with her on chapter 16, the easter egg the credits hinted at me to get, and of course, recruiting lorenzo.

Because I just couldn’t get enough of Pluto last time, and seeing how everyone else loves Fiadh a bunch, I decided to give the other sniper a shot this time.

Summary

I WILL make this work.

Her main issue is that until promo her skill is so bad that she has actual hit issues. Otherwise she is easy to feed kills and sniper promo bonuses are huge. I say this because I used her with mind scroll (which should only be 1 point in each stat or maybe 2 so not a big of difference and without statboosters). Next time I will try Mamluk Pluto to see if fire brands have an use after Kairos promo.

Second Run Content Spoilers

My one complaint about saving Pheme is I feel like it takes WAY too long for her to come back. WAY too long. Everything else? Perfect, but I feel like she comes back too late and, genuinely on the EXACT wrong map.

Second Run stuff

The problem with Pheme returning ‘late’ is that she cant really return until Soter leaves since well, her presence would be an obvious indicator that she isn’t dead. Consider that in the first place her survival was supposed to be a secret and Edward/Apate were really the only others who knew she wasn’t dead. The only map where she would be able to return ‘earlier’ is literally the previous one which is up there for being one of the hardest chapters in the entire game

But that genuinely fits anyway? Like, the only ones to even remotely be options are 16 (The most iffy, because Soter is still around), 17 and 18, but the issue with her joining in 18 is that it’s already a reunion chapter crammed full of other recruits and she’s joining after the events that would be most personally impactful to her. There really isn’t an option that feels good unless saving Pheme means Soter might leave even earlier. (Then again, we got Scymerius leaving unannounced several times throughout the game, so I can totally see Soter doing that a chapter early if he got paranoid enough, or perhaps expecting Kyra to defect, and then Pheme joins a few turns into 16, to watch her hometown get burned and bust a few heads)

Possible Spoiler

Is Barlowe meant to be just dodge and tank 100 hits to gain exp or is there another way?

I just finished Hag in White yesterday! Absolutely loved this hack! So glad see to a PoC protagonist in Kyra and especially love the way she’s written. She’s the perfect sort of person to manage all these odd personalities, even when they stress her out and challenge her patience.
The story and lore is so tight here. I really like how everything comes together and makes sense. Also adore that knights were finally useful to some degree, I typically avoid them.
Truly a wonderful hack and just wanted the dev team to know!
