I got professionaly made portraits for my project.
I’ve made over 30 animations this year
I’ve gotten additional team members for my project.
I’ve been getting better at polishing my project.
I participated in this year’s FEE3
Sins:
I had to end commissions earlier than I thought. (Sorry to everyone)
I’m having to find dirty and unprofessional solutions to problems and bugs I can’t fix. If I ever do a 2.0 version from scratch, I’ll learn build files.
There have been a few things of my project that I have to “settle” for. I had greater aspirations but time, money, skill, and knowledge have gotten in the way.
I’ve learned that Hatsuru is one of the best users in the Fire Emblem community. I’ve also improved my ability to use FEBuilder for gba-era projects, as well as Nightmare for ds-era hacking.
Pros:
I am polishing a lot of the text of my and @BladerDj gigaproject.
I am helping two other hacks more activly.
I refined my sprites further and I am trying more things that arent common.
Cons:
Did less then I wanted, because player feedback isnt really there and this hurts motivation, (but I wanna ask a small lets player down the line, maybe it will work)
I did edit tilesets that ate more data from the rom then id like
I haven’t done any actual hacking yet, but I’ve started to actually make music and upload stuff to FEU (technically I uploaded like 2 songs back in 2023 but then took a 2 year hiatus). I’m about halfway there to recreating the entire FE5 soundtrack with the FE8 soundfont, and I’ve gotten my very first commissions (which I still need to get to). I’ve put my name out there, and that’s all I wanted to accomplish this year so I’m happy.
I’ve had a couple of ideas for hacks over the past few years that I’ve never bothered to pursue (some more shitposty, some more grounded). If I do actually bother to actually start creating a fan game / romhack, I’ll probably learn LT before FEBuilder just because idk if I want to deal with the limitations of the GBA.
So the other day (today) I had a thought that would completely CHANGE how fe would work.
What if trauma (units who are defeated and must be given an item to come back) affects weapons as well?
Sure, we have durability, but suppose weapons have the same thing, except they have unlimited uses until they reach the “trauma” threshold and force players to gain debuffs on the weapon or the unit itself
Maybe a weapon that leaves your inventory/party and becomes either a recruitable unit or a boss if you killed a certain target with it? Either because of shame or because it completes a step of its agenda with it
