Small bug in the tower, the cyclops is still counted as one of the enemies that has to be killed, so you get softlocked if you don’t skip the opening event so that you can manually trigger it dying since it doesn’t despawn correctly and remains with 0-hp.

I don’t know if it’s intended, but you can just rescue the Gorgon Egg with Seth, he’s doesn’t get penalties when rescuing, maybe give the Gorgon Egg a lot of Con so it can’t be rescued?

Ha ha very funny, i knew about the one time per chapter thing. Either way being told there was a seize/escape tile would have been nice.

As far as the gorgon egg goes i’m pretty sure that’s on purpose for maps where enemy reinforcements spawn at the start point or chapters like phantom ship or hamill canyon so the player isn’t just screwed outright from enemy layouts.

While i agree with you about the egg, i think it’s hard to balance it out, because Seth rescuing it trivializes all the challenge, aso, you can make the egg hold stuff and act like a second inventory for Seth, at least i do that lol

Anyone got a save around Route split? I suddenly lost mine because my phone is broken and have to play on pc, I’ll be grateful.

will you work more updates? a royal weapons location guide? an exerciser game and maybe bring skill scrolls something to renew this beautiful player experience that.

Ok, so i hit a bug where i did the first floor of the tower and i killed all the entombed, but the chapter was still treated as having one enemy remaining even though the floor was empty, so i got soft-locked, had to retreat and got blocked from using the tower again.

Half-bug, half-intentional…will be adjusted though.

Welp, I have finished the game from start to end (including the Tower of Valni but not the Lagdou Ruins) and I wanted to say a few words.

Review

I have played a lot of rebalances/reduxes, some better some worse and i gotta say this one sadly enters in the worse category.

Starting from the beginning I got a massive red flag when, trying to get exp for Eirika, I spent 10 turns in the prologue with 2 resets because she gets one shot.

I knew enemies were stronger and i embraced it so i continued my journey through the maps and found one of the issues of this hack in the promoted enemies which nobody can take without dying if unpromoted or can’t scratch the enemy if promoted. In ch9 (Eirika) for example taking on one hero took me 3 of my own promoted units. Promoted enemies should be a real threat and i agree but to unpromoted units, not to my supposedly stronger units.

This is a trend in all the game, enemies are much stronger with very high stats while your units remain unchanged. Of course i know the reason, from ch8 and onwards you get the tower of valni to grind at your liking and be on par with the enemy. Supposedly of course because even after grinding a 20/20 unit still struggles to fight promoted enemies. Promotion gains are vanilla (Trash), bases and Growths too but enemies aren’t, so the game revolves to wait to get a heaven seal so your tier 4 units, with their broken perks can once for all take on tier 3 foes.

The only people who are gonna reach those sky high stat caps are bosses and that should be a red flag when making the game. And because I can freely grind i don’t see the need on deploying units on the map when they are just waiting, capped, to get their heaven seal. Instead i can solo with Seth, an A support with the main lord and his savior skill. Because for some reason Seth is the only changed unit. I want to insist once again and that every other unit is vanilla, Amelia has her 3 speed base in a map where you begin to see enemies with 22 AS, Knoll in ch15 is lv1 (wtf) and spawns next to enemies who can easily one round him and duessel.

It seems like the game, just for trying to keep up with a grinded up 20/20/20 team forgets that there are other things in the map.

The fact that you, the dev, recognize ch19 is a difficulty spike is something that baffles me, until that point i noticed how maps were the same but all the unpromoted enemies were promoted and the promoted ones had higher stats, but ch19 is hard in the laziest way possible, it isn’t a test of skill like you mention but rather a test of patience to see how much you can endure the crap the game throws.

And by that point, even with a full team of tier 4 units, if they face against horde of tier 4 foes, who probably have better stats, is a no fair game.

Skill procs get absurd lategame, enemies have >40 skill to proc whatever they want and Marshalls have nearly a 1/2 of negating damage, is uncanny. Archsages can one shot anything with 3-10 range plus Ignis (Tower of Valni floor 8 for example) and it isn’t fun to die due to RNG.

I have been told you didn’t want the game to be balanced, that it was rather chaotic. But a game should also be fun. The tools you give the player are great but you can’t seem to use them properly because of 2 enemies gang on you is game over for them

The game is not hard, is rather boring. Ch19 is the hardest one via RNG, inflation and spam and then ch20/Endgame become a snoozefest. Ch20 is just waiting until reinforcements stop to seize.

Ch1-7 were the best part of the game, i enjoyed it quite a lot but after that it became worse and worse.

I just want to end by saying that, like I first thought, tier 4 units don’t work in fe8, at least not in the main story. I have yet to play Gorgon mode or Ephraim route but this bittersweet playthrough doesn’t really inspire me to replay it.
