ReversCard's creative stuff I guess

Last year, on a whim, I decided to start trying to port music I liked into FEGBA. I haven’t made much worth showing yet, but I figured I’d compile it into one thread. It’s my first time doing this sort of thing, so any feedback y’all could give would be much appreciated.

Also, everything is F2U/F2E, with credit (unless I specifically say otherwise… which is admitedly unlikely).

Couldn’t put the .s files in the post, so here’s a Google Drive file with everything:

Megami Tensei series
OMEGA - Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei II

OMEGAFIN3(gba).mid (25.2 KB)
Soundfont: FE8

This one took about 6 months… because I suck at sitting down and committing to things.
While initially struggling a bit to figure out the lead, I managed to find a channel that had the whole song written out in Famitracker. That helped a lot, though it didn’t have the solo for some reason so I had to do that by ear. Still, really happy with how this one turned out.

Devil Speak - Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei II

DevilSpeaktest.mid (11.9 KB)
Soundfont: FE8

I like to go to sleep listening to music, and this happened to play as I woke up one day. It stuck with me for some reason, and… I decided to “set things up” before going to bed. Next thing I knew, it was 4am and I finished it.
…I really need to stop doing things like this.

Ex-Convict - Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei II

Ex-convict fin1.mid (8.4 KB)
Soundfont: FE8

Not the kind of song I’d imagine coming from an NES game, but damn its good. Made it thinking how cool it’d be to hear the song in a random shop. I’m not entirely satisfied with how it turned out, but I learned a lot from it.

Hellfire ~ Rotting Sea of Flames - Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei

Hellfire test2.mid (9.1 KB)
Soundfont: FE8

A very simple song, but it got stuck in my head for a while. I think it’s also the first song I ever finished making? Well, whatever. Honestly, I’m not entirely satisfied with it, but I don’t really know how I’d improve it.

Checkman / Terminal - Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei II

CheckmanTest.mid (2.5 KB)

Seriously, they made this just for a damn save room?
This one took me less than an hour to make. Short, but sweet.

I Love Money - Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei II

GamblingTest.mid (14.7 KB)

Soundfont: FE8

Let’s go gambling!
Though I haven’t played much of MT2, I did play Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei (it had too many QoL features over the NES originals for me to pass up, though I might play the NES version of MT2 anyway) and it includes some tracks from MT2 in MT1. This was one of them. Having a literal casino that you could gamble your hard-earned money in certainly left an impression on me, and the music helped with that. I may or may not have abused the casino a bit to grind up some money near the end of the game.

This song is a good example of how older games would take heavy inspiration from various sources; in this case, it steals a riff from Johnny B Goode. It’s pretty simple, but very expressive for NES standards with all the slides and modulation used to imitate real instruments. It’s a really fun song! I ran into some issues trying to get that sort of arcade-y sound, and I still don’t think I really got it, but this was as close as I could get.

Fall'n Gods - Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei II

FallnGodsTest.mid (4.5 KB)

Soundfont: FE8

Found this one while I was listening to the OST, and I think its cool. Its a really short song, and I finished the whole thing in an evening. Not much else to say, really.

Death Match - Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei II

DeathMatchTest.mid (15.1 KB)

Soundfont: FE8

Ah yes, the normal battle theme for MT2. Why does it go so hard? I have no fucking clue, but its awesome. Going from the battle theme from MT1 (not a bad theme by any means, but might not stand out much) to this is insane, man.

Trying to get this song to sound right in FE8 was… interesting. Honestly, I’m still not super happy with the instruments, but I don’t think I can get anything better without importing something. I also spent way too long figuring out the lead; the slides threw me off a bunch, and I had trouble getting the timing right. I think it turned out well, though the guitars still bother me a bit.

Ginza - Shin Megami Tensei (SNES)

ginzatest.mid (15.9 KB)
Soundfont: FE8

Never played the original SMT, but I found this while looking for some other SMT tracks and… neuron activation.
I originally tried using the FE7 soundfont for this one, but I just couldn’t get things working in Builder. I’ll figure out how to use other soundfonts and stuff eventually…
That said, it wasn’t too hard to port to FE8’s font. Turns out all the instruments I used were also in FE8. Well, except the organ, but that wasn’t too hard to fix.
Side note: I HATE MIDI EVENTS AAAAAAAAA

Nemesis / Old Enemy / Archrival - Shin Megami Tensei if...

NemesisTest2.mid (27.3 KB)

Soundfont: FE8

I don’t remember how I found out about this song. I’ve played SMT if before, but didn’t get very far. I remember really liking the music and general vibe of the game, I just haven’t gotten back to it yet. That said, this theme is one of the reasons I want to play it; its just so damn cool…

So, funny story… with a song like this I’ll usually take a few days to get it done, especially since I started working on the same day I finished Death Match. This time, I powered through the whole thing in 2 days. I probably could’ve done it in one, but I needed a break. Part of why I got done so fast was that I found out how to get the MIDI from the game itself. I didn’t do that initially, instead going by ear for a while, but when I opened up the midi and found out I’d gotten basically everything right… god, that felt good. Kept doing things by ear for a while after that, only checking the MIDI to make sure I got it right, grabbing stuff if I just couldn’t make out… but eventually, I got lazy and just copied from the MIDI to make things easier. Either way, I think it turned out great. The song fits FE8’s soundfont surprisingly well.

Boss (Akira Volume) - Shin Megami Tensei if...

BossAkiraTest.mid (23.9 KB)

Soundfont: FE8 (+ FE6’s Orchestral Hit)

I think I found this one while listening to a bunch of SMT music on YouTube and just kinda clicking on whatever caught my eye. As it turns out, this song is a remixed version of SMT1’s boss theme… but with a lot more bass. No idea why they decided to add an extended bass solo, but god damn does it slap!

So, funny story. I started working on this one thinking “it would be kinda funny if I managed to finish this one in time for Christmas.” Apparently, that was all the motivation I needed to spend a full day working on this. I had a MIDI to work with for this one, which made things a bit easier. I wanted to have 2 different bass sounds (one finger bass and one slap), but I found FE8’s slap bass worked best for both sounds. I had to use a lot of pitch bend events for the solo, but they were all the same sort of bend I could copy+paste where I needed to. Also turns out what I though were strings in the original song probably aren’t strings, but instead an organ playing some really, really high notes; I found the Reed Organ to work pretty well for that. Overall, I think it turned out great! Probably gonna take a break after this one.

I was playing a bit of EO1HD a few days ago, and came across this song again. I love the atmosphere in this area; probably my favorite of the EO1 strata, though Stratum 5 is really cool too. This one was fun to make, though the way it loops kinda bothers me.

Ecstacy - Etrian Odyssey

ecstacytest.mid (18.4 KB)
Soundfont: FE8

The first “welcome to hell” battle theme in the series. Etrian Odyssey music does not miss.
I’ve wanted to put this together for a while, but I couldn’t figure out what instruments to use. When I was in the shower one day, I thought it might be kinda funny to mix xylophone and metal guitars… and it worked, somehow.
Fun Fact: the internal name for this song is “BATTLE_ABYSS”.

Destruction Begets Decay - Etrian Odyssey

EO1Battle2Test.mid (23.1 KB)
Soundfont: FE8

The 2nd battle theme of EO1 and the song that got me into the series.
Basically, it got stuck in my head after a certain Nintendo Direct, and I decided to boot up the DS version when I was bored in a Discord voice chat. May or may not have started headbanging when it showed up in a quest battle.
I struggled a bit trying to find a good instrument for the lead, honestly.

Labyrinth 2 ~ Undersea Grotto / Water Woods of the Submarine Ridge - Etrian Odyssey 3

UnderseaGrotto2Test.mid (11.8 KB)
Soundfont: FE8

I’ve noticed I like a lot of “you’re not supposed to be here” themes. This is one of them. It starts off kinda peaceful, but around halfway through it shifts into sounding a lot more dangerous. Kinda sounds like you’re diving deeper and deeper under water; the deeper you go, the more it feels like you’re being crushed. Something like that, anyway. I’ve been playing a bit of EO3 recently, mostly just wrapping up the different story routes before diving into the postgame proper. I’ve been having a lot of fun with 3, especially compared to the first 2 (Claret Hollows, my beloathed). You have no idea how happy I was to see basic QoL features in EO3… because they weren’t in the first 2 games. Also seafaring and sea quests are pretty fun.

This is the part where I have to stop myself from writing a whole ass essay on Etrian Odyssey and talk about the song instead. It was nice not to worry about hitting the note limit after the last few songs. This one went pretty smoothly overall, even started experimenting with simple midi events. I managed to get the Jaws thing to sound passable, so that’s nice.

Cherry Trees and Wings - Etrian Odyssey 2

CTaWTest2.mid (15.1 KB)
Soundfont: FE8

While I was looking through the soundtracks of the DS Etrian Odyssey games, I came across this. If I remember right, this song doesn’t play much; its tied to a side quest pretty late into the game. I haven’t played Untold 2 so I don’t know what its like there, but I remember it being a really cool scene.
The song itself is pretty simple, but the sustain notes that show up halfway through were kinda tough to find a good instrument for. Still not super happy with that, but it works. The note limit became an issue again, too; the chimes are something like 5 notes (3 on one, 2 on the echo), and the piano in the original track was about 6 or 7 notes. Adding in the percussion, bass, and what I assume is an electric guitar, it went way over the limit (around 16 notes, note limit in FEGBA is 12). I managed to cut down the piano to 4 notes and cut out one of the bass tracks to make it work. I think it turned out alright.

Shiver - Etrian Odyssey 2

ShiverFin.mid (34.6 KB)

Soundfont: FE8 (+ FE6’s Orchestral Hit)
Thanks to Cynon for helping me figure out how to import instruments!

This is Etrian Odyssey 2’s “we are going to beat you to death” theme; aka, the 6th Stratum battle theme. It’s quite the contrast to the area theme, which is much more calm and serene; while this theme acts as a reminder of how dangerous this place really is. It’s also one of the most metal songs I’ve heard in an Etrian Odyssey game. Side note; the Super Arrange version of this song is… unique, to say the least. Listen at your own risk.

This song was very frustrating to make a midi of, which was mostly my fault. For songs where the source is a DS game, I typically rip the midi from the game using VGMTrans and use that as reference while recreating the song from scratch. This lets me organize things a bit better and fix any weirdness with the original midi. With this song, however, it was extremely tedious; a lot of the song is triplets, really small notes, or both. Not too terrible if I can just copy/paste it, since songs usually repeat themselves a lot, but the drum track in particular… When I first was tried to copy it over, I realized the timing was slightly off. Since it bothered me a lot, I went over to the original midi and tried my best to figure out why. Turns out, the drums are often off-beat, and by a different amount each time; ~1/64th triplet off beat, with some variation. I didn’t know I could copy/paste between different instances of Anvil Studio at the time, so I recreated the whole thing by hand. It was extremely draining, and I quickly got sick of the song. Then, I finally got to the point where I had to start messing with midi events, and… I was so tired of the song at that point that I said “fuck it, lemme see if copy/paste works.” …It did. I could’ve copy-pasted the drum track this whole time… I proceeded to drop it into FE8, praying I wouldn’t have to do any more work on it. Unfortunately, the modulation events weren’t working ri- aaaaaaand the bunout hit. For reference, I had planned to finish the song around the end of June. Ah, well, at least it turned out well; and just in time for spooky month! Fits the vibe, no?

Labyrinth VI ~ Claret Hollows / The Cavern of Pure Red - Etrian Odyssey

ClaretHollowsTest5.mid (14.0 KB)

Soundfont: FE8

The first post-game stratum in the series was certainly… interesting. I could go on for a very, very long time about this stratum in particular and how much it put me through, but I’ll spare you the overly-passionate rant about Claret Hollows. Instead, let’s talk atmosphere. No joke, I had just finished DDS Megami Tensei before playing EO1, and boy did this stratum give me SMT vibes! I mean, you’re basically going through the bloodstream of Yggdrasil. The whole cavern is a mix of reds, and due to the short render distance of EO1, you can’t see very far ahead. The whole place is creepy as hell, and I love it. The music is perfect here, too; Yuzo Koshiro just doesn’t miss, man. It gives the vibe of being in an enormous, creepy cavern, where danger lies just beyond the darkness…

As for the song itself… frankly, I struggled a lot with it. It’s a very atmospheric song with a lot of unique chime-y, echo-y sounds and a lot of sustained notes. There isn’t actually too much going on in the song, so you’d think it’d be simple… but it was hard to get a similar sound in the FE8 font. I had to mess around with a lot of different instruments, play with note volume a lot more than I’m used to, and use a kinda funny trick to imitate one of the synths. That said, once I got past the intro, it got a lot easier. This song helped me learn a few things, so that’s pretty neat.

A Sudden Gust of Wind Before Your Eyes - Etrian Odyssey

FOEtest.mid (20.7 KB)

F - O - E! F - O - E!
The theme of deer that kick your ass. My friend saw me play EO a few times, and would describe the FOEs as “cheeseballs”. Though they’re usually challenging enemies, I started ignoring a lot of FOE puzzles and just powered through a bunch of them before having to use a warp wire. Though, I remember one particular time in Ant Hell where I fought the FOEs of that floor (which continuously respawn untill you kill their captain) for a good 30 mins before finally running out of TP and dying. The only real reason I couldn’t get out was because they respawned faster than I could kill them, and I couldn’t run from battle. EO1, everybody.

I managed to get this song done in a day! Crazy how fast I can do some of these now. That said, I ran into a bunch of problems with the note limit and had to find ways to keep it at 12. I managed to get it working after removing a track plus some other small adjustments, but it stressed me out for a bit there.

Labyrinth IV ~ Sandy Barrens / The Withered Forest - Etrian Odyssey

sANDYbArrensTest2.mid (16.6 KB)

Soundfont: FE8

Honestly, this song didn’t stand out to me when I first played EO1, but its grown on me. As for the stratum… its something. I played the DS version (with extremely limited mapping tools), so the first floor was not fun to map out. The rest… well, we got a floor filled with secret paths, one that’s just a big ass room, a warp maze, and a monster house. Good old EO1 and its shitty ass dungeons. I remember the final floor being particularly hellish and unfun. Story wise, its… certainly something! Not gonna go into it too much, but basically EO1 is very much a game that tries to be like “are we the baddies?” And… in a way that feels pretty cheap imo, especially if you go for 100% (god help you if you really try to go for that). Why do I like this game, again?

I went into this song expecting it to be relatively chill. It was not. I had to constantly make sure it was within the note limit, even after removing (almost) all of the echo tracks. I managed to sneak in an echo for the strings, but the song is pretty consistently hitting ~12 notes. (The original midi hits something like 17-18 notes, I think.) I had to find ways to cut stuff out without it sounding like I cut stuff out, which took a lot of checking over specific areas. That said, the song turned out pretty alright.

Scarlet Rain - Etrian Odyssey 2

ScarletRainTest.mid (43.3 KB)

Soundfont: FE8 (+FE6’s Orchestral Hit)

This is the boss theme for EO2, and a theme you’ve probably heard A LOT if you’ve played the game. Not sure how it is in Untold 2, but in the original the best way to get XP is to grind the stratum bosses since FOEs don’t drop XP. That and, well… Scyla and Colossus exist, and are a huge pain in the ass. I’m not sure how to describe it, but all of EO2’s ost has a specific vibe to it that I really like and this theme really fits with that.

This song was a damn Dark Souls boss, man. The note limit in particular was kicking my ass, because it’s constantly hitting 12 or more and I couldn’t cut things out without sacrificing something noticeable. I did manage to make nearly everything fit, but I’m basically hitting 12 notes for the whole song. I had to mess with individual note volumes a lot, too; especially with the drums. Honestly kinda hate having to do all that, but the song repeats enough that I could use copy-paste (and sometimes transpose) to make things easier. There’s also a midi event in there that I have no idea how to use, so I just ripped it from the original song (if you’re wondering, its the big slide near the end). It works in FEGBA, so I might try to tinker with it for some songs in the future. Anyway, I’m tired. The song turned out pretty good, and I’m leaving it at that for now.

Labyrinth 3 ~ Frozen Grounds / Woodland of Frozen Flowers - Etrian Odyssey 2

FrozenGroundsTest.mid (25.6 KB)

Soundfont: FE8

This is probably my favorite area in EO2. If we go purely by pure vibes/aesthetic, there’s definitely competition (this game has some of the best visual design in the series, it’s crazy) but gameplay-wise none of the other stratums can really keep up. Honestly, I struggled to get through EO2, and considered just moving on to another game at one point (especially around the 5th-6th stratums); I just wasn’t having fun. That said, the 3rd Stratum was one I really enjoyed exploring. A lot of my characters started to really hit their stride around this time, the dungeon itself was pretty fun to run around, the enemies were relatively chill for once… the story really started to ramp up a bit, too. The realization of what’s really going on while looking through the monster codex made me lose it for a second. Hopefully I’ll have more fun when I get around to EO2U, because there’s a lot I like about EO2 despite all the other bullshit it throws at me.

I’ve been thinking of trying this song for a while, and the snowstorm blowing through the US was the tipping point. “Wouldn’t it be funny if I did a wintery/snow song during a snowstorm?” So yeah. This one was pretty chill; a nice change of pace from the last few songs. The only thing I had some trouble with was the instruments, since the original song has a lot of chime-y synths that are hard to fully replicate with FE8’s font. That and, well, there’s an acoustic steel-string guitar in there. Y’know, the thing FE8 doesn’t really have. I used the overdriven guitar for it, since its just kinda close enough to work. Aside from that, I had to remove an echo track again to make the song fit. I probably could’ve kept some of the echo, but it was practically invisible in the original song, so I just scrapped it. Honestly, I appreciate the song a lot more now, having listened to it more closely. The end result turned out great, too.

FE6BeautifulAndSublimeLandsTest.mid (1.7 KB)

Had this one in my head for a while, and it was short, so I decided to throw this one in. If you haven’t played EO2, this theme plays in the castle that you get your main quest missions from and where the monster/item/gear codex is. Oh yeah, fun fact about EO2; this is the only game in the series where, to get 100% completion, you need to unlock all of the equipment in the armory. On top of that, for some reason a lot of the equipment needs you to sell something like 10+ of multiple items to unlock them. Its extremely grindy and it sucks. I spent a lot of time here making looking through each codex to make sure I got everything. That and a lot of main story events happen here, so you’re going to hear this theme a lot.

While I was messing around with the original midi, I actually had some trouble finding good instruments for it and said “fuck it, FE6 seems to have this sort of sound, so let’s try that”. I wasn’t wrong; some of FE6’s instruments sound nearly the same as what’s used for the original song. I decided to make an FE8 version anyway, though I like FE6’s sound more for this. The song also went over the note limit due to an echo track, which I decided to just remove entirely; it barely has any presence in the original, and it’d be a pain in the ass to try to make room for it.

Here To Stay - Bleach

Oh boy, I started another project when I have like 7 others waiting to be finished.
Anyway uhhh, I was reading some random manhwa (“A Returner’s Magic Should Be Special”, I think?) when I suddenly got some Bleach music stuck in my head. There were some others I thought of doing (and might get to in the future), but I figured this one would be relatively simple to make.
Fun fact: this song uses almost entirely white keys. Just thought that was interesting.

I keep confusing this one with Quincy Craft, for some reason.
I got this one done surprisingly quickly, considering it was all by ear. Some of the string parts messed with me a bit, though.

The Sea Where One's Home Planet Reflects - Touhou 15: Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom

JunkoStageTest.mid (19.5 KB)
Soundfont: FE8

No joke, I started this because a friend sent me an MMD animation with Junko in it. Got reminded of her theme and, by extention, her stage theme… and then I stayed up until 5am messing around with it.
WHY CAN’T I GO TO BED AT A NORMAL HOURRRRR

This one was surprisingly simple to figure out, though some of the harmonies were really hard to hear. Also messed up the drums a few times, and I probably could’ve made a better sfx for the ocean waves but I don’t really feel like messing with midi events for another 2+ hours. I’m pretty happy with how this one turned out; might even try Junko’s boss theme next.

Strawberry Crisis!! - Touhou 3: Phantasmorgia of Dim. Dream

StrawberryCrisisTEST2.mid (47.2 KB)
Soundfont: FE8

I’ve been wanting to work on this one for a while. Though I haven’t actually played Touhou 3 (or really any of the PC-98 games aside from TH4), I really like this one. The same could be said for a lot of the Touhou songs I know, actually; never played the game, but the song slaps! I wound up using Strawberry Crisis as sort of an escape from some other projects I didn’t have the motivation to work on, and it’s a relatively simple song so it didn’t take too long or sap my energy. Once I figured out a part, I could pretty much just copy + paste for the rest of the song since its mostly just layering stuff. Some of the harmonies were a little hard to figure out at first due to the fuzzy sound of PC-98 (plus I’m not exactly super well-versed in music theory). It was interesting trying to find good instruments to use for it though, since the original is basically all chiptune. I had a lot of fun with this one, and I think it turned out well!

Challenge - Picross 3D

CHALLENGEtest.mid (43.5 KB)
Soundfont: FE8

I’ve been playing a bit of Picross 3D recently, and some of the songs are way better than what I would’ve expected from a picross game. Case in point, this theme.
The organ (now flute) had an echo in the original midi, but it went over the note limit for FEGBA so I had to remove it. I had fun working on this one, though the percussion track was a pain in the ass to figure out.

Library Piano - Luigi's Mansion 2 / Dark Moon

libraryp.mid (4.2 KB)
Soundfont: FE8

I have no clue how, but this song entered my brain a few days ago (as of writing) and wouldn’t leave. Very fun song, and it’s motif is used in a few places throughout the game. It was simpler than I thought, and I got it done within a day.

No More Bugs! - Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded

NoMoreBugsTest.mid (27.7 KB)
Soundfont: FE8

Despite having played Re:Coded as a kid, I don’t remember much of it. It was actually Melody of Memory that made me remember this song. Still kinda wish MoM got some kind of DLC…
It was kinda tough to figure out what instruments I should use for this one, since the original is mostly chiptune. There’s also no orchestral hit in FE8 (yes, I know its commonly added in with patches, but idk how to use those yet), so I had to find a good analogue for that too. I wound up cutting a few tracks from the original to stay within the 12-note limit, but they’re hard to notice in the original anyway. It was fun seeing everything come together. Now, time to get back to my other 20 unfini- ooh, a piece of candy!

Final Battle (Master Rank) - Fossil Fighters

VsSHTest2.mid (25.3 KB)

Soundfont: FE8

Fossil Fighters is one of those games you’d hear about and go “what were they smoking when they made this? …Can I have some?” It’s a really good game, and I may or may not have over 100 hours in it. If I remember right, this song plays when you fight Saur Head, though I don’t remember if it shows up anywhere else. I don’t really know if the song has an actual title, so I just used the one I found on YouTube. I remember it being used for a big tournament match in a colloseum, with the stands packed to the brim with people; all of them watching your match with Saur Head, a Master Rank fossil fighter (closest comparison I can make is like, the 8th gym leader or regional champion from Pokemon).

This is another case of the original song having a very specific sound that FE8’s font doesn’t really have, so I had to compensate by combining some instruments to replicate it. That also means I had to cut out the echo tracks, since I couldn’t make them fit. The song has a sort of muted brass sample that sounds like its playing more than 1 instrument; I tried my best to replicate it with FE8’s Muted Trumpet and SynthBrass 2 (not sure what they’re actually called, but that’s how it shows up in Anvil). There’s also a track with 2 different brass instruments in it, where it’ll just switch instruments if it goes high enough, so I had to work around that too. Then there’s another track that looks like its only playing 1 note at a time, but the instrument used for it only plays chords and the chord changes a bit depending on the octave. I had to play around on the keyboard a bit to figure that one out. Then you have the drums, which have 2 different snare samples; one high and one low, probably to imitate real marching drums. FE8 only has one marching drum snare (to my knowledge), so I ended up having to tweak the note volume for pretty much every individual snare hit in the first half of the song. And then, there’s the midi events… which I decided to just copy+paste from the original and call it a day. It would’ve been a huge pain in the ass if I didn’t. It turned out alright, though I think it’s a little empty at times.

Battle with the Devil Prince - Dungeon Maker DS / Master of the Monster Lair

VS Devil Prince Test.mid (10.7 KB)

Soundfont: FE8 (+FE6 Orchestral Hit)

This is another song without an official name, so I grabbed it from YouTube; even in the game’s data, its simply refered to as “BGM 25”. There was a time I tried to look for the composer of it and found nothing, not even in the games credits (though I could be misremembering). I played this game as a kid, and I don’t know anyone who’s even heard of it. Can’t find much online, either; though it’s possible I just haven’t looked in the right places. That said, its a fun (if grindy) little game that I had a lot of fun with and still go back to on occasion. This is one of two unique boss songs in the game (well… “unique” as in only 2 bosses use the theme). I remember my mom had a lot of trouble with the Devil Prince, so she passed her DS to me and I beat him first try; don’t ask me how, though.

I thought I’d have to get rid of the echo tracks again, but pretty much everything managed to fit; though it’s basically right at the note limit. I had to use some midi events to get around the track limit, which I never thought I’d have to do. That said, the song fits into FE8’s soundfont very well and honestly wasn’t too hard to port; though it did take a bit. It came out very well, honestly. I’d love to remix this track (and honestly, a lot of the soundtrack from the game) in something like FL Studio one of these days…

This one puts me in the mind of Advance Wars, just without some of the instruments present in that game.

I was playing a bit of EO1HD a few days ago, and came across this song again. I love the atmosphere in this area; probably my favorite of the EO1 strata, though Stratum 5 is really cool too. This one was fun to make, though the way it loops kinda bothers me.

I got this one done surprisingly quickly, considering it was all by ear. Some of the string parts messed with me a bit, though.

Challenge - Picross 3D

CHALLENGEtest.mid (43.5 KB)

I’ve been playing a bit of Picross 3D recently, and some of the songs are way better than what I would’ve expected from a picross game. Case in point, this theme.
The organ (now flute) had an echo in the original midi, but it went over the note limit for FEGBA so I had to remove it. I had fun working on this one, though the percussion track was a pain in the ass to figure out.

Library Piano - Luigi's Mansion 2 / Dark Moon

libraryp.mid (4.2 KB)

I have no clue how, but this song entered my brain a few days ago (as of writing) and wouldn’t leave. Very fun song, and it’s motif is used in a few places throughout the game. It was simpler than I thought, and I got it done within a day.

No More Bugs! - Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded

NoMoreBugsTest.mid (27.7 KB)

Gonna have to clean up the OP soon…

As a quick note, should I be sharing .s files instead of .midi? The midi files I’ve put in my posts so far have all been exported to midi_0 through Anvil, so they’ll import to FEGBA just fine, but would .s files be prefered?

Added a Google Drive link to the top post which includes .s files, midi files, and previews of everything. I wanted to include .s files with each song in post, but the site won’t let me, so this is the best I could come up with. It also has some extras in the midi section, but I can’t guarantee those will work or sound good. Also, please let me know if I somehow mixed up some of the files or if anything is missing/disappeared.

I Love Money - Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei II

GamblingTest.mid (14.7 KB)

Gonna try to do one of these every month or so. Idk how that’ll turn out, but might as well try, I guess.

Gotta love how I missed a month immedietly after saying that. Had a lot of shit going on in February, so I only got one song done. Also tried working on some WIPs I never finished, but aside from one (that should be done soon-ish) I didn’t get very far. Ah, well, should be better next month.
