Hi! You may know me as the freak who hacks FE1 for unknown reasons. Well, right now I’ve been focusing my efforts on non-FE1 things, mostly my big top-secret Saber project. Oh, and I’ve also spent the past year learning Blender via Smash modding. It turns out that rigging 3D models is unbelievably simple once you know what to do, so I’ve had a blast adding anything and everything I can think of into the ultimate fighting game, Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Many of those “things” included Fire Emblem characters I wanted to play as. Some of them were built by me, and some were made by my associate, Mareeta. For the most part though, we kinda worked together on nearly all of them. The Smash modding community has no idea who any of these characters are so I thought I’d share the FE characters I “added” in with people who might be amused by them. This isn’t meant to a plug for my projects or anything. I just wanted to show you stuff you might find cool.
When I say I “added” a character to the game, that means Mareeta and I made a mod to replace the model, UI, voice, and sometimes sound effects for an existing character in the game. This means they fight the same as the original but look and feel like a brand new character. I mean, this is basically how Sakurai made a lot of the characters in Smash (Mario→Dr. Mario, Captain Falcon→Ganondorf, Pit→Dark Pit, etc.)
Some fighters use existing Fire Emblem models we found, others had to be made either by Mareeta or I. Have fun guessing how we built some of them!
We also sought to pick fitting voices for as many of the fighters as possible. However, nearly all the modern Fire Emblem voice actors are really low-quality and don’t fit the characters well, so we had to “recast” them. We tried to get as close as possible to the correct voices we imagined them having. Since it’s a little difficult to hear voices through images, I’ve uploaded a quick sample of each fighter as videos.

I first made a voice replacement since his current VA is so bad. I still wanted a new model to go with it, so I picked the one I deemed the closest to what he ought to look like.

I did the rigging and UI on this one, Mareeta did the voice. It was Mareeta who really wanted this. I just wished we could’ve somehow worked a horse into the mod. It’s difficult to get four-legged creatures into Smash. Oh well!

Gharnef’s current voice actor is awful, so we opted for his superior anime voice. He only has, like, 7 lines so we did the best I could. It also wasn’t exactly easy fitting him over a Pokemon’s skeleton.

This one was actually a request made by someone on the Smash modding site. Ripping the original model files to recreate a Morgan from the 3DS game was too much hassle, so I opted to use the one the requester suggested. Sheeda over Corrin

It was tough deciding who Sheeda should go over. Ultimately, I thought Corn’s spear movements fit Sheeda best, so I just had her turn into a Pegasus for the dragon transformations. Yeah, weird, but it works. The taunt poses were a bit awkward to put lines on.

I didn’t work at all on this one. Mareeta picked it because Raquesis was a Master Knight and can use all weapons or something. Hard for me to say much since most of my Genealogy knowledge comes second-hand.

Mareeta did this and she told me she’s still not quite happy with the voice choice. So, we’re still keeping an eye out for just the right character to use. Regardless, it’s nice we can finally set Zigludo ablaze in Smash Bros.

This was a cool one! We even got him to summon Loptos out of a portal! Well, I guess that was one of the main reasons we picked Bayonetta. We think the movements still fit his kind-of snarky attitude. Or maybe I’m just thinking too much of the rip-off character we were going to add to our own indie game. I helped find the suitable voice for this mod and made the lines.

Mareeta did all the work on him. I initally picked a voice out for him, but Mareeta found there weren’t enough useful clips to use so she opted for someone else.

This one was all me. I got his proper voice actor, and I even fixed his colors. He didn’t exactly have a ton of lines to work with, so he ends up saying a lot of the same things. I’ll go back and fix it later, maybe.

Another one I did. Naturally, I just had to put the Fairy King from the Last Promise into Smash. Wait, why was he called the “Fairy King” again? I don’t remember seeing any faeries… …nevermind, I probably don’t want to know.
Anyway, this mod has the whole Kitten Caboodle: custom model, sword, voice, and sound effects. Can you handle the weight?

Mareeta knows Genealogy more than I do. I just know the “Do you want to play a game?” taunt was added as a reference to the whole Julius-kill-someone-first game. Better now that both she and Julius are in the game together. Personally, I’m not a big fan of the voice but it’s better than the cheap Heroes voice actor.

It’s Eirika from Sacred Stones. I think I’ve only played one or two chapters of Sacred Stones, so yeah, Mareeta did this. All I can really say is I like the character design for some reason.

I won’t post any download links as I’m not trying to shill here. They’re really easy to find. Just want to know what you all think and figured you’d get some enjoyment out of seeing cool FE characters in Smash Ultimate.
