So, I’ve had a hard time compiling my words because I’ve known Purple for quite a long time at this point, so I do know pretty much all the tricks in the book he uses under duress.
As a PSA to everyone here who isn’t in the loop, please don’t fall for Purple’s usual tactics of pity seeking. Purple has historically had a long history with working up his persecution complex to seek pity by attempting to frame any amount of mass criticism against an unpopular change in his work as an unjustified and unreasoned attack upon him as a person. Multiple people have called him out for this and he’s burnt multiple bridges because of it.
Purple, you claim to not know exactly what to do every time in these situations, but the fact of the matter is that people just want you to un-nerf Glacia because she’s a character that people enjoy using. You’ve shown many times across multiple servers your curious and irrational hatred for her for some reason. I’d agree with a lot of people here that if you don’t want to have people asking why you keep shadownerfing a character that a ton of people like, you should just remove said character. (You don’t even put Glacia changes in the changelog as far as I’m aware.) It’d be disappointing, but I think people would like it a lot more than what you’re doing where you’re just dangling a mangled corpse of a jagen in front of the crowd as a form of apparent mockery, I guess. (It’s pretty obvious what you mean when you suddenly decrease Glacia’s growths as if they were divided by 5.)
You’ve pulled the “I’m so tired” excuse multiple times, and while that might work for a first timer, it frankly won’t work on a lot of us who’ve seen you try to sandbag criticism and ignore it by pulling this card before.
It’s frankly frustrating to me as a fellow creator that you’re being so creatively dishonest when it comes to the creative process (again, shadownerfing Glacia and not being transparent about it in order to preserve your image), especially when it comes to your relationship with people who do try and actually give your hack a shot, and people who actually do like the hack. The fact that you’re actively trying to sandbag a good fraction of your active and vocal playerbase over their affection for a character you personally dislike (at which point, again, why is she still in the game?) is the reason why you can’t “appease” people.
It’s because you simply don’t want to. And sure, that’s fine, but you should expect people to be unhappy as a result. You aren’t entitled to happy fans if they don’t like your decisions.
