This originally started as me just thinking it’d be interesting to play through some MARTH entries. Then I decided to review some them for a video. Then I decided to review all of them. Then I expanded it to CELICA too, which doubled the length of the video. So now, here we are, after a month and a half later. This is, of course, aimed towards the people who are less familiar with Romhacking to learn about something they don’t already know of, but I figured people here might enjoy too.
I think I already got this across well enough in the vid and description, but to be very, VERY clear: I did not make this with the intent on harping unneccessarily on mistakes, but instead to use that as a lesson to see what we can do better. It truly is nothing personal if I didn’t like your game, in fact most of the people who entered I’ve never even had a conversation with lmao. At the same time, I wanted to keep each entry’s discussion short, so I couldn’t always be the most articulate with my thoughts. Please keep this in mind, sit back, enjoy the video, and know that I hope the next thing you make is awesome!

Hey, just watched your video, it was great! MARTH & CELICA were both super fun and the entries were awesome, so it’s always nice seeing more people engage with them. CELICA was indeed much higher quality from both the organizational side and the entries themselves, but MARTH still had some really good entries, so it was nice seeing some of them highlighted again. The format is in a pretty good place now imo & I’m looking forward to the next one – and perhaps an entry from you?
Anyway, regarding the feedback to my entries (We Are Legion & AVALON X EMBLEM) – yeah, this is all really valid. I have an unfortunate tendency of making too hard entries (“fun” fact: my one irl FE playing friend & MAPPY partner couldn’t beat AVALON X EMBLEM either) which I’ll definitely keep in mind for future entries – probably with more difficulty options. AVALON X EMBLEM’s story being a mess is also a good point – I usually go for more comedic stories (hence Morbius) but attempted a dark/serious one here and just couldn’t keep it up. Still not sure whether I’ll attempt such a story again but going all-in this time or just stick to my comfort zone. Overall though, really good feedback, and thank you again for playing all the entries & giving each one a spotlight!
Lastly, my friend & I used a bunch of your music tracks in future projects, so thanks for that as well and the first shot is mine!
