If someone isn’t coming into a thread to honestly engage with the topic, why come into the thread at all? That just never made sense to me. If you don’t like a thread, ignoring it is always an option, just like I ignore harassment from my haters on this site.
This isn’t about every post needing to be 100% serious or completely unserious with no middle ground. Real discussions don’t work that way. People can engage intellectually with a topic without being overly formal. Mocking or disrupting a discussion isn’t the same as honestly engaging with it.
And then there’s this ridiculous argument: “Telling people to take something seriously is just telling them to not take it seriously.” Come on now. That’s just mental gymnastics. It’s the same empty logic as “Telling someone not to do something makes them want to do it more!” By that reasoning, we should abolish all rules and never ask anyone to stop bad behavior because it might encourage them to keep doing it. That’s absurd. Asking people not to derail a conversation with childish harassment and playground-level insults isn’t putting up a sign that says “No fun allowed.” If someone thinks that is fun, there are plenty of other sites that welcome that kind of behavior.
Let’s be real. When people jump into my threads just to post things like, “Jason, no! Jason, why? Jason, this isn’t fun for me any more, stop posting on my site! This is too off-topic to be allowed on my site!”… That’s not constructive, that’s just mockery. That’s tone-policing. That’s harassment barely bothering to disguise itself as a joke. It’s just someone wishing they were a moderator so they could forcefully shut down my threads. That’s bait I won’t take. These people didn’t enter the discussion to engage honestly with the topic; they came to whine, attack, and try to drive me out. That’s why I don’t respect them or care how they feel about me.
At the end of the day, I’m here to talk about what interests me. If someone’s only contribution is trying to silence me, that says a lot more about them than it does about me. Says everything there is to say about them, really.
Venom’s a boring character and concept, just another mediocre trend-chasing edgy character who’s like a mall katana, flashy and edgy, but ultimately pointless. He’s only meant to appeal to the inner child, and Spawn has a cape and guns so he’s way cooler. The concept was only interesting when overcoming the tempting corrupting corrosive power of hatred was represented by an alien symbiote that presented a challenge for Spider-Man to overcome. As for the sprite, the body isn’t buff enough for the head, and the resolution’s too small for such small detailed teeth.
jason what do you think of this, then (please be mean
)
You consider elves monsters but not cyclops? How does that even work?
Also, what does this even have to do with Fire Emblem
?
As for Elves VS Cyclopses… The Cyclops is just a person missing an eye. Maybe they’re short like a Halfling or giant like a Giant or into smithing like a Dwarf, but Giants and Dwarves and even Halflings are more interesting than Cyclopses. Give them a mind-control eye that shoots lasers. They’re still boring. Do you know how boring you have to be if even shooting a frickin’ laser beam from your face can’t make you interesting?
I don’t care if saying this gets me blacklisted from the Cyclops brothel. They’re boring. The one good thing anyone ever did with Cyclopses was that joke in Ishuzoku Reviewers where the guy said he wanted “The biggest girl they have” and didn’t realize they were talking about eye measurements, not breasts. Comedy gold.
Elves are just people with weird ears when the author is boring. Elves are great like in Tolkien. Or evil horny Drow like in Skyrim/Dungeons and Dragons/Warhammer/Warhammer 40K/etc. Elves are nature. Elves are guardians of nature. Elves are pure. Elves are heroes. Or Elves are some boring juvenile perverse sexual fantasy about a spacefaring or underground matriarchal BDSM cult empire with slavery and a goddess of rape or spiders or both. Whatever an author does with Elves, as long as it isn’t just the british or roman empire but evil or drow coomers again, it’s always more interesting than anything that can be done with Cyclopses.
Has any author done anything interesting with Cyclopses ever? Let me know, I’d love to see it.
Not saying that one is better than the other, just that it feels odd saying that you don’t consider cyclops as “monstruous” enought to be counted as one. One thing is saying they are boring, but other is not even consider them monsters. Sadly, can’t say a modern work that portrait them in an interesting way, but there is always the source material: the greek myths. They are the smiths of the gods, and helped Zeus overthrow Cronos.
Also, comparing Drows with Dunmers is such a big misconception. And calling them evil and horny is just so wrong (the dunmer, not the drow. I’m not familiarized with the laters).
I think Homer did something pretty interesting in the Odyssey.
Look, Jason, I try to engage when I do in good faith because I realized that mocking you won’t stop you because you genuinely do not see the point in hiding how you communicate for others. (I still think having your own thread would work better, but that’s neither here nor there.)
However, the idea that Venom is some childish gradeschooler “RAAAHHH I HAVE THE BEAST WITHIN” power fantasy is just abjectly wrong. No, Venom is the avatar of the yaoi bubbling deep within every human’s soul, just waiting to burst out and start gooping all over the place. To discount the view of the yaoipilled and turn around and say, “Hey, you guys aren’t looking at my view,” that’s… that’s just wrong. Fujoshis saved so many beloved franchises from certain death; we ought to do the bare minimum to repay them. If men can’t literally get pregnant, at least give them a Symbiote.
And then there’s this ridiculous argument: “Telling people to take something seriously is just telling them to not take it seriously.”
Not what I said. Try again
this is why you are the superior rando regular, i concede, fringles
I never knew I’d relate to a Sheep Girl before this tier list came out.
arent elves and cyclopses like basically the same??? cyclopses get less eye. elves get more ear. slightly different variants of just normal guys
