  • Steps to reproduce: Importing a image into Battle Animation Palette from Usenti.

Hi! First time posting here. I want to make a simple FE romhack so i’m learning how to use the tools and resources available.
I’m currently in the process of importing a custom animation palette that I recolor using usenti. But when I try to do said import, FEBuilder does it weird. Like the colors are in the correct order (at least that’s what I think, checking various tutorials and materials online) also I don’t exactly know how to explain it, so I’ll link a couple of images to represent my problem.

(Or so I thought, but apparently I can’t embed files in a post. I did a quick search online and it looks like accounts need to be a week old and I made this one on 2024, if I recall correctly so I’ll probably need permission from mods.)

The order of the colors looks the same to me, but for some reason, the inside of the cape, the sword’s trail, as well as the grey parts of the armor dont match with my image in usenti. I’ve also tried to use FE Recolor with even worse results (even if FEBuilder says that their hexes are compatible)

Is there anyone who can help me to solve this mystery? :smiley:

You need to have made posts (both creating a topic and having posted in a topic not by you) to get image/link permissions.

Anyways I’d want to look at your image to be sure, but just to be safe, when you did the recolor, all you did was change the colors, right? You can’t do things like making a cape use different colors from the clothes if in the original animation the cape and clothes used the same colors.

First of all, thanks for your time, @knabepicer

Oh, I see. I got that out of the way now. Should be able to post images now :slight_smile:

I wasn’t aware of that restriction, but maybe that’s what’s causing the problem?
This is the custom animation I’m using:

This are my recolors:

And this is the result in FEBuilder:

If you want to make an edit beyond changing just the colors you need to edit every frame of the animation before importing it.

Yeah it’s as I said. In the original animation, the underside of the cape uses the armor’s colors. You cannot change this allocation with a mere recolor. You need to edit the animation itself if you wish to change that.

@knabepicer @Shuusuke
Ok, I didn’t know I could change those too, but it makes sense. I’ll give it a try then.
Thank you!
