Hello! I’ve been dipping my toes into the self-randomizers made by Vesly, and I was just messing around and sending the silliness to my friends when I remembered I could share the silliness HERE. So!

Here’s the randomizer, for those not aware, and let’s start a new file and see who we’re dealing with, shall we?

Now, I’m not randomizing any of the actual enemies we’ll be going up against, but their stats I believe will be affected just because of the way things work, and because this is FE8 and a lot of the bosses are technically playable, we’ll be seeing them swapped around too. I’m also swapping items around just because that’s fun, but I’m keeping it to only items originally found in FE8. I will be including all the fun new classes and characters from every game, though. Oh, and this is going to be on Normal, because I’m actually not very good at FE. I’m going to be resetting a bajillion times probably. Wish me luck! Lol

So! Let’s meet the princess of Renais, shall we?

Okay I don’t know this person. I think the king is a lategame character from Fates but my memory is SO bad and I don’t know MOST FE casts so this is how I’m going to be learning a lot of them lol

Her name is Katarina! Interesting

And here’s our Seth, Louis, who I also don’t know. They also say the name of whoever replaces Ephraim but I have already forgotten it lol I’ll tell y’all when it comes up again

Now to just skip this scene right quick and find out who our Franz is… oh, okay, Ephraim is someone named “Largo” who sounds vaguely familiar

And here’s our Franz!

Her name is Daisy and I caught sight of her sprite and she might be a whole manakete so that could be fun! I set basic weapons to not break because weapon durability proved to be such a genuine obstacle in my first couple seeds of the FE7 randomizer and without the ability to buy weapons it can be genuinely iffy but I don’t actually know if the supply convoy armory is affected by the random item thing so it might not have been as big of a deal in this game. Still, if she is in fact a manakete the dragonstone being breakable is a whole Thing™ I’d love to avoid lol

Oh no I was wrong, it’s Louis who’s the Manakete, interesting!

Meanwhile, here’s Valter, who is randomized because he’s technically playable which threw me off the first time I tried to rando this lol. He’s another character I don’t know off the top of my head but his portrait looks like it’s actually from a GBA game so I’m assuming he’s from FE6, which I’ve only ever started and never gotten super far in.

His name is Astolfo? … interesting. Anyway, Louis isn’t a Manakete he’s an entire ANGEL?? or something?? Def looks like he’s still a promoted class, anyway, so that’s going to be nice, since the game very much expects you to have and use Seth early on.

Alright, stats time! I have things set to give an extra 10% growths because once again I am not actually very good at FE and I want things to be generally feasible for my poor self even if I get some characters with 0 base stats which I have had a few times while doing this lol

Katarina… looks fantastic, actually, damn

She has a trusty Hatchet, a weapon I trust innately because my Ross in my actual FE8 playthrough that started me down this rabbit hole was a monster with that thing and it’s just so nice to have an axe that almost always hits lol. She’s also made of PAPER but that’s been a consistent theme with all of my rando attempts I’ve tried so far lol. At least she’ll have plenty of HP to make up for it

Now for Louis… Jesus Christ, alright

Good to know I do in fact have a hard carry this time; in my other FE8 rando file Seth got replaced by a character who was a Thief with no stats besides speed albeit decent growths. He’s got a Horseslayer and a Beacon Bow, which are both totally solid since the bow won’t break, thank god. Time to pick off all these nerds with indirect combat hell yeah

Okay, no problems, solid level for Katarina, good good. Probably best to call this post there and make each chapter a different one for the sake of, like, idk. Organization? Post visual length? Idk it just feels right but I’m going to keep playing regardless lol

Part two! Here’s Tana! I don’t know this person but that’s a modern design so probably Engage. Looks neat wherever they’re from

And here’s Gilliam! Don’t know this character either but the name sounds familiar. I am sure someone will tell me lol

Let’s see here… Daisy is… mildly underwhelming, but it’s neat to have a revenant, and monster attacks are all mutually compatible and she has two really interesting ones so we’ll see how she does. Good Strength and HP growths so how much can I really complain lol

And now for Shannan! We love a dragon, hell yeah. Growths are very… specific, lol, but the bases are solid enough that that should be fine. I never take good Skill for granted in this economy.

Now, how best to distribute this experience… huh. Hm. Well, can’t complain about that! Lol

Shannan already has a 13% crit with his regular-ass Slim Lance. Hella… oh wait, I didn’t realize he was a Wyvern LORD, shit, he’s eating all the EXP. Whoops. Alright alright it’s fine we’re fine we got plenty of units to feed to our gang

Hell yeah Katarina! I will take every point of Def I can get and the rest is just excellent

LMAO AND SHE CRIT KILLED THE BOSS. OKAY GIRL. Let me get Daisy all of her XP for the level and then we can finish up here.

Part Three!

GASP!!! MY MAN!!!

God I love Xander SO MUCH that’s my favorite older brother hell yeah!! Let’s check them out before we go off to our next mission, here…

Xander is a Cleric! Solid bases and growths, but he HAS NO HEAL STAFF so I’m going to need to find out if the standard armory is randomized REAL quick @-@

And here’s… Zelestia, is it? Neat. A Pegasus, so I have three fliers now, which I can’t complain about. VERY fast, like wow, SO fast? She has a chance for growths in it but she is once again made of PAPER. Normal Pegasus hours tbh so I can’t complain and she has a normal Iron Lance so that’s also good

Now for our Ross and Garcia, let’s see… oh fun! I love Grey, though I don’t know the other person. It seems like a SNES-ass design (affectionate) so I imagine it’s someone from one of those

Saber as the Feldspar! Neat!

Alright, just gotta play musical rescues with Garcia being an entire other Pegasus Knight which makes keeping him from going after the bandits SLIGHTLY difficult lol… Got 'em! Let’s have a look…

Here’s Grey! Nothing crazy, but decent Thief stats tbh so not awful

And our replacement for Garcia’s name is… Edain! Not great, tbh, but you never know, and I will always ALWAYS accept more fliers into the ranks lol

Now, let’s get down to smacking some bandits around… oh right, first shop!

Hm. The Demon Surge is shockingly tempting, especially since apparently everyone can use monster attacks?? But I would have to sell something and idk what I can afford to give up atm… Vulneraries also don’t break so I think I’m good on those. I guess I’ll pass for now, then.

Okay, one of the guys has something to steal… a skill? Does that work how it works in PokeEmblem maybe? Weird. Good ability, but presumably RNG-based since I think I kept skills like that? Unsure. He’s poisoned so I don’t think I’ll make it over with Grey anyway, alas.

Katarina was in range of one of the bandits and I didn’t realize, but she killed the dude very hard so that should be fine I just wish I had a HEAL STAFF =_= at least Vulneraries don’t break so I can survive regardless.

Oooh, nice level for Daisy! Apparently the monster skills don’t. NEED? That much skill? So she’s probably fine? We’ll see lol

And done! Time for a break to eat and feed cats. So far so good though!

Alright! Next chapter time, let’s see how we do. I missed seeing who replaced Colm, but we’ll see in a minute who he and Neimi are.

I did get a look at who Largo is in the flashback cutscene, though, so that’s something to look forward to.

Alright, here’s our new Neimi, I don’t know him but he seems neat.

His name is Hawk, alright, animal names make me think of Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn but we mustn’t make too many assumptions. The name of the person who replaced Colm is Robert, which I don’t associate with anyone off the top of my head. Have I mentioned I’ve played, like. Five total FE games? lol

A pupil! I love a trainee class. Higher bases than a typical trainee, but much worse growths, alas. Still, more magic users are always good.

Here’s Robert! He’s a PIRATE HELL YEAH I love Berserkers

Gotta grab him with one of my many fliers to stop him from getting himself offed, and thankfully while my thief has no lockpick and my cleric has no Heal staff, Xander DOES have an Unlock staff, so I can handle the doors at least.

Katarina KEEPS CRITTING. My god. She got a Luck/Res level, which is whatever, but who cares. She’s doing great.

Alright, let’s look at Robert, here…

FAST. Jiminy CRICKETS that’s a lot of speed with good speed growths. This guy’s going to be fantastic I’m so excited.

Some of the last guys here have a Pure Water and an Antitoxin to steal, so that’s nice, more thief XP is always good

… Grey just got HP and Spd from the level, but eh. Better than nothing. Daisy killed the boss no problem because I have a nuke button on her and normally I wouldn’t just use it like that but this guy has a Steel and a Hand Axe and I don’t want to deal with all that lol

Daisy got a good level out of it, too, so no complaints from me here. Let me tell you, this is going MUCH better than my FE7 playthrough I’m doing on my phone where everyone is made of paper and I have too many healers to boot lol

Alas I do not know which General stands where in this cutscene so besides Saber being uh. The lady whose name I’m forgetting but I know is the Feldspar, I do not know which of these is going to be a party member in a minute. Still, always nice to see Effie~

And here are our other two evil guys, who I also don’t recognize but seem neat. Their classes seem to be the same, but one of the sprites is different which means that’s going to be the one we recruit since that’s how I set up the rando lol

Next time, we get two more units and fight some monsters.

Hello Rath’s daughter and someone I don’t know, I assume you are taking the roles of our two new units for this chapter, nice to meet you!

I CAN FINALLY CHECK THE ARMORY. I need a heal staff please have one even if everything else is randomized I’ll take a Mend even lol

Oh, I can check the first of my new units already, too, let’s see… his name is Conomor? Interesting, he’s a Sniper, and…

WHY IS EVERYONE MADE OF PAPER. My lord, anyway, these are a little low for a prepromote that’s not going to get much experience, so I’ll probably bench him after this chapter since I have lots of other units I actually like. I have a bow already, but it’s another prepromote so, like. Idk, who knows.

THE ARMORY IS NORMAAAALLLLL HALLELUJAH HEAL STAFF WE GO

(yes I know that getting this excited when vulneraries are infinite might be silly but I want to have a Bishop Xander at some point lol)

Hmmmmmm. I think maybe I can leave Shannan and Louis behind to bring Hawk and Robert? They’re my two other prepromotes and they ARE two of my fliers but I have two others so I should be able to make it to the village while also getting experience on the guys who actually need it

I have enough for a Fire for Hawk, too, I should go ahead and do that

Oh I didn’t even realize but in my team made of paper Zelestia has really great defense hell yeah

… I should have gotten an iron bow for Conomor and some iron axes for my axe wielders so they aren’t throwing stuff the whole time before the chapter started actually. Oh well I’ll survive.

Sue get! She appears to be an archer of some kind, let me see here…

OH RIGHT I FORGOT L’ARACHEL MAKES HER FIRST APPEARANCE HERE

I have Rafiel in my FE7 run, he’s a bard there who replaced Florina, so I’m happy to see him, and I’M ALWAYS HAPPY TO SEE MY HUSBAND JAKOB. That’s my man right there. Can’t wait to see what they wind up actually being later on.

I don’t know this kid though. I’ll meet him later I suppose

Slowly beating up all the monsters, being very very careful with my new unit, Robert got an excellent level. we picked up a Demon Surge at some point for Daisy which apparently hits at range which I only noticed now, as though she needed more tools to destroy people with.

The zombie is my strongest unit. Wild shit. Also the animation for whatever that was did not display at all which scared the shit out of me but we’re fine it’s fine I just won’t do that again probably just in case lol

Oh one of these guys has something to steal is it just another Vulnerary or – WHAT?

Well. That’s. A very good thing to try and grab. Just gotta set this up… oh, another great level for Robert, hell yeah I love pirates!

PHEW OKAY. OKAY I FORGOT THE BOSS OF THIS LEVEL MOVES. GREY DODGED IT BUT THAT HIT WOULD HAVE KILLED HIM. I have danger bones on but I just didn’t look at the boss that’s my bad at least we’re okay phew phew

Grey got a good level out of the other guy at least, that’s good, and Katarina set up Sue to kill the boss so we remain unpunished so far, go us, we did it, chapter complete. Phew

Next time, village level with vendors that are going to have items we can’t afford, lol. Exciting!

If im correct she can become a mounted unit or a sniper but uhhh holy she is gonna stay fragile forever with a 18% def growth and 24% res growth she is likely gonna end up high hp and wont miss but chip damage with no defenses id agree on Robert tho while the hp growth is 54% everything else is solid and he has 14 con so he can wield the Battle axe with hardly or no AS lost invest in robert then in chp.19 go to the secret shop and just buy tons of battle axes for him.

OH AND OUR NEW GIRL IS A DANCER. LET’S GO. Madeline, Madeline… I don’t THINK I know her? Well, I get a look at her before the chapter starts, let’s see how she is… oh, she has Ninis’s Grace, that’s good!

… and the award for “weirdest dancer stats of all time” goes to…? I mean, a tanky dancer isn’t BAD lol

Alright who to take, who to take… lots of axes and lances with very few swords, so besides getting to villages my two pegasi aren’t great here, but I definitely want Robert and let’s go ahead and bring Hawk and Sue to see if we can’t get them some experience via sniping? I’ll bring Zelestia of my two pegasus knights just because she’s techically lower level but also has higher stats lol

And ofc this isn’t an ironman I can reset and change my roster if I fuck up we’ll be fine

Felix is a lance user of some kind, the name is “militia;” his bases look decent but I’ll have to check his growths once I manage to get close enough to talk to him. First we gotta kite the other dudes and visit everywhere

Alright Zelestia is pretty good and she needs levels so. Let’s give her the defense buff and give it a shot

Man I’m so glad I saw the Ninis’s Grace thing in a random FE7 Ironman supercut because I’m a dumbass and would never have thought of it because I have only used the rings a few times. The extra turn just feels so valuable it’s hard for me to remember there are other options lol

Damn! This shit works like a charm, hell yeah! Only has 15 uses though so I gotta be careful. Sue got HP and Strength out of that level but nothing else, alas… maybe one or two more rounds? Just the boss is left so I should arrange everyone to get support experience too if I can remember who goes with who lol

Level for Xander! Nothing crazy, but points in speed and res are good

OH THE ARMORY HAS PHYSICS idk if that’s worth it RIGHT now because Xander’s magic isn’t crazy but distance healing is distance healing, I have a newfound respect for it after playing a bunch of Echoes and having Faye’s absolutely ridiculous Physic range in that game

Ooooooo, they also have Berserks and Steel Blades, damn, now that I know I might be able to afford them they all seem so tempting lol

Alright, one or two more rounds with Sue and then we’ll figure out what to buy and then kill the boss

Alright, Sue is just a bit off from her next level, this is going to leave Ninis’s Grace at 9 uses. If I really want to grind money, I could just see if Daisy doesn’t break it for being a monster lol since she’s basically invulnerable

Sue got a single stat boost, just Skill. Bluh. I need a better archer who’s not a prepromote lol. At least I have money! Time to let one of my two excellent axe units kill the boss

… okay it looks a little more dangerous than that would entail. I’ll have Katarina sit in his range with the Hatchet; he only has a 26% hit but it does more than half her health and the Hatchet doesn’t actually do a ton of damage

I think I might try to let Hawk get the kill after that, since it should be in range and he won’t die to one hit and I can rescue him if necessary. Yeah, that should… it worked! Hella! Hawk got a solid level out of it, too!

I assume the Elixir is because I saved all the villages, I forgot that was a thing, lol. That was a lot more involved than I was expecting, but we made it.

Next time… oh, well first, here’s Largo’s two knights, they’re a character I don’t know and my boy Kilff! One of them is a goddamn boat, I saw that in the wide shot, so that’s going to be hilarious when I finally get to play as them.

The traitor guy is played by Arlen, who I know from a different rando seed but am not familiar with wherever he’s from.

Oh wait, do I have to play this now? Shit, I don’t really have the brain space to do that after the other chapter took so many tries, so I’ll call it here and make a save state for later but let’s at least first look at our guys we’re going to properly get in a few chapters I suppose

First is Largo! He’s another Hunter but with MUCH better stats and his growths are pretty good too so that’s good I finally have a good archer lmao

Next is Tine, who’s the ship, with polarized bases but solid growths and who is also a bow unit, neat!

Finally Cliff is a Bishop but not a full Bishop, he can use light and staves which is great even if he comes with a Mend instead of a Heal so I’ll need to be careful. He’s slow and fragile atm but he does have somewhat decent speed growths, so hopefully with a few levels we can even that out. If nothing else I’m sure I’ll get a Speedwings somewhere lol

Alright, that’ll be it for now. I gotta work today but not for a while… unsure if I’ll post again today, the chapters are taking longer now lol

Alright!! I have a couple of hours before I have to leave for work, so let’s bang out this interlude chapter and check on my units’ progress. Here we go!

… okay so Largo has a poison bow and I was going to just do some chip on the Soldier in front of the first door, right, and instead Largo decided he wanted to get TWO THREE PERCENT CRITS IN A ROW,

So that’s. Good. lol. I can’t complain, the guy is dead

The traitor guy who I didn’t bother getting the stats on since he’s going to be gone in a hot second is the Merlinus class but because this rom is based af he can use weapons and has the single funniest combat animation I have seen since the Buff Moulder one, where he just sort of scuttles up to whack the enemy and then scuttles back. God bless.

. LARGO HE WAS ALREADY GOING TO DIE. AN ADDITIONAL CRIT WAS UNNECESSARY. WHAT,

Kliff gets a solid level, thank god for Vulneraries being infinite use because he’s been taking more hits than I’d like just because he can attack adjacently and my two bow units can’t so I’ve been putting him in the way lol\

PFFFFF. The Merlinus bow animation has him whip out a crossbow. God bless.

He really wanted to avoid taking the hit to get the kill he was already going to get I suppose lmao

This map isn’t super eventful, you just need to gradually work your way through and kite the enemies one at a time, and they set them up so that’s not too hard, which is maybe why the game is supposedly so easy but frankly it is so easy to be bad at games like this lol

LARGO YOU ARE STILL UNDER TEN PERCENT CRIT. THIS IS UNNECESSARY

Kliff is getting good levels too~! His speed growths are making up for his low starting speed, thank goodness. All three of these guys are ready to support, too, but I have no idea if I want to do that, Ephraim has a lot of other options and I don’t know who all is going to be usable long-term

Alright, here’s everyone’s progress for the chapter before I go kill the boss, since we won’t be seeing these guys for a bit after this.

Oh lord. Oh god. The next chapter is the spider episode. I hate this chapter it took me genuinely two dozen tries to figure out when I was first playing through because I am extremely bad at gauging how far to send in units when I could just park things at the end of my enemies’ range which DOES NOT WORK when you have people to save and a time limit to do so. The actual thing I managed to do was kite the spider away rather than saving them in time, too, so I’m genuinely terrified about how long this is going to take me to do. At least I have plenty of fliers so it should be a BIT easier on my poor brain, lol.

Now, before I head out, here’s most of my units excluding the ones I definitely plan not to use, with their current stats

The only one I definitely don’t want to use is Conomor, whose stats are pretty bad especially for a prepromote, so he’s not here, but I don’t really want to write off any of the others necessarily because you never know when you need a certain weapon type, lol

I’d look over this and see how well everyone has been growing myself but I gotta get outta here to work, so I’ll leave that to Shadow, I suppose, lol. See y’all next time for the scariest spiders have ever been to me!

Okay, time to deal with spiders. At least I know where the boss is this time, which should make it easier, but I still have to be careful because a lot of my guys are still made of paper. Here we go

I am bringing ALL of my fliers. Sue and Hawk are going to have to sit this one out. We are playing a game of time here and I need all of it that I can get. I picked up a Swordslayer in the last chapter, so Katarina can have that in addition to her trusty Hatchet, and I gotta move around a few of my other weapons so that everyone has something reasonable before we go. I’m going to buy an Iron Sword for Shannan just because he’s otherwise stuck with just Zanbato which will break before long and I don’t have any other swords. He only has a Slim Lance, and Grey is stuck with a Slim Sword, but that’s probably fine for now, I don’t want to spend too much of my money at any one time because money is actually sort of at a premium when you try to use lots of units lol

btw, the debugger can access all blue units, including dead or undeployed ones by pressing R/L a bunch of times

here I killed off Seth in the prologue, only to immediately debug him back to life by turning his dead state off and his hp stat up from 0.

Alright. With the knowledge of how to revive the dead, we’re going to give that a shot and try to finish the chapter instead of starting it over.

(I’ll try not to overuse this and will be careful, dw, I just feel this is fair because of specifically not having torches in the fog. Maybe that’s silly of me, but eh. Vibes based gaming.

Oh hey, finally found the actual bugger, nice to see you still have a couple of turns before you were going to start killing people. I’m doing pretty alright at grabbing everyone, but we’ll be able to kite him in a pinch based on where I placed Louis to do this, or at least I hope so.

SUCCESS. The spider got its stats randomized too so it’s way less scary, and Louis has a Beacon Bow so he was able to kill him super easily, while Zelestia handled the boss with some healing from Xander. Thank the gods, we really were that close to winning lmao

Alas, the item we get is just a Tomahawk, which isn’t nothing but isn’t a promotion item, either u_u

Alright, no major issues! There were like three ways I could have killed that boss, but I gave the kill to Zelestia. I gave the Energy Ring to Felix, for kicks and giggles, we’ll see what the next chapter holds to see if I can bring him and grab him more experience.
