I liked Caged a lot so I look forward to playing this.
Unfortunately, seems to crash upon opening.

Sorry about that, should be fixed now.

Yeah it works now, can confirm.

Cheers. Another thing, steal seems to crash the game immediately in the first chapter.

Just finished it. Incredible stuff. I really liked the story of Caged and the follow-up didn’t disappoint. I am enjoying the direction of the story. Some pretty expert cutscene eventing, especially in ch5’s start and end event.

I like that the skills are quite impactful but still simple and easy to remember. Trapmaster is perhaps my favourite. 2 mines with 5 range placement as a single action gives such an incredible amount of battlefield control.

Gram and Miles were my two reliable guys for tanking and damage. Everyone else was still quite useful. The weakest link was Yvette. Really poor base stats and savage blow was surprisingly hard to take advantage of, with most of my units either doubling for orko or hitting around 50% HP.

Maps felt pretty expertly paced. Chapter 2’s expanding boss range is a fun anti-turtle. I especially liked chapter 4 where there was a balance between letting two enemy factions whittle each other down and sneaking in to get the kills for drops.

Chapter 5 was an incredible set piece to end a first story arc. Damn if it isn’t insanely tough though. The right side seems like a trap with the blast on turn 3 destroying the whole area and the falco boss right above it. While I got pretty much every single anti-turtle reward in previous chapters, I could not catch a single thief in this chapter because even staying alive was a struggle.

Thanks for the review! As for Ch5, I did go a bit overboard with anti-turtle on the right side . I removed the blast for the right side and some of the reinforcements near the end so it should be more fair. As for rewards, it may be easier to experiment with how you split your units up, as certain units are more effective on the left or right side of the map.

have to say it’s fun too , just sucks that i cant steal since it crashes the game.
trap master sure is fun though

That’s strange, I can’t recreate the steal crash on ch1. It shouldn’t be a problem on the other chapters though.

New update! 6 new chapters and various changes listed below.

I forgot to add the new dialogue and scenes for chapters 1-5 that should’ve been in v1.2 :skull:. Only story changes for this update, no gameplay changes.

Story Changes

  • New scenes for character development
  • New characters
  • Rewrite for Mihcarus, specifically for chapter 10

is the prequel chapter from the celica entry supposed to be quite challenging for a first chapter? if so might be an idea if one could skip it for the ppl that arent so good . I barily finished it with just the main guy and the druid.

btw how do i reuse my save in the new updated version?
I dont know how saves in LT work

Copy-pasting instructions from my own games’ readme file for transfering LT Maker saves:

  1. Open the game folder of the older version.
  2. Open the saves folder.
  3. Move all the files within the saves folder into the saves folder of the newer version.
  4. Done!

And always make sure to restart the chapter to make sure the changes are implemented. Most if not all changes should apply depending on what exactly was updated

I designed the prequel chapter to be easier and fairer than the celica entry, because the entry I submitted to celica was pretty unbalanced. I also felt that it would be awkward for players to download 2 seperate games to get the whole story, and I wanted to write some minor changes to flesh out the story better.

As for a quickfix, I fixed a typo and removed enemies to reduce bloat in CH1.

It’s been a while since I’ve worked on this, but I got motivated enough to rewrite most of the dialogue and make some story edits.

  • Added promo item for Kallum at CH8
  • Enhanced skill values
  • Smaller enemy density for CH10
  • Fixed lots of bugs that made the game unplayable
