Greetings! I’ve been lurking for a little while, and have been really feeling the appeal of making my own fangame. I’ll have to play several of the ones on offer, to appreciate what this community has done, is doing, and will continue doing, before I can truly get to work on my own little project myself.
I’m an okay writer, I can mess with sprites a lil bit, but I have ZERO knowledge of coding.
In any event, I will be sure to follow the development of y’all’s projects, even silently.
You’re in for a treat. I don’t think there’s ever been a better time to jump into rom hacking than now. The communities very cool, so if you ever need help with anything, writing, story, especially coding, you can always reach out for advice. A rom hacks a huge investment, even if it’s short, so your skills will naturally develop overtime.
If you’re looking for any hack recommendations I’d go with Cerulean Crescent and Dark Amulet. Cerulean is very out there mechanically and has a very great story that feels very different compared a lot of its contemporaries. Dark Amulet is one of the best recent more “standard” fe type game, both gameplay wise and story wise. It’s a really cool time, plus it’s got a finished sequel and another on the way!
