Coming out and transitioning gives her power pretty much.
Now that I think about it is it possible to have gender specific skill change being active on her when she promotes/transistions?

I’ve actually been wondering that myself. I haven’t really done much febuilder yet, but I was thinking her personal skill would change at the promotion. Since she becomes much less shy and dependent on others and much more confident and strong willed.
I adore the change in personal skill to reflect growth for a lord too, a very cool feature. I think that is something that would be neat for more games to pick up on.

One of the things that make Drums of War’s queer characters so great is that the writers have clearly put a lot of thought into what society thinks of queer people in this setting. Queerness is referred to euphemistically; there’s acceptance, but not positivity. This was the case in much of the western world until recent history. The protagonist (who is a lesbian) writes this in her journal under “proclivities”:
“… have always felt there have been more important things. ‘Let the blossoms
bloom’, most Rijescans think, ‘but there’s no point spending time on it, when every month, a farm is set ablaze by Rhiannites on the border.’ Only the most ardently obsessed with blood and soil find room to judge…”

I can’t take complete credit for the phrasing, it’s a reference to an infamous Bob Katter rant…
But yeah, I tried to get to grips with the texture of it. And, of course, having it be something the Confederation, for all its faults, wasn’t terribly concerned about… only the factions who care about royal blood, noble blood and, of course, good, pure Rijescan blood. Glad that it landed as it was meant to.

it’s even a problem in the official fe games where us gay guys get the short end of the stick ^^,

Ooh, idea of how you could pull this off. Give her second-tier class the female flag. It’s in the class editor despite the female flag usually being reserved for units, but since you can’t really change that flag on the unit (I think?), giving it to the class would essentially overwrite her being considered as male by the game (and certain skills like Demoiselle) and have her be considered female.
They really are. I definitely hope to change this with my hacks. I love me some queer men. An amab enby would make for a really cool character, as well.

If you look through the thread you’ll see lots of folks talking about MLM couples and also several trans women which are “AMAB” as much as we want to use assigned gender language there. People don’t typically say what gender their non binary characters are assigned at birth so I can’t say for sure.
In terms of in the main series there is just about equal rep. In terms of the games that let you do gay marriage exactly even split, 3 student MLM endings, 3 student WLW endings in 3H. You could count the Rhea thing but also she’s your Grandma and it’s not really a romance and she’s not a unit. Fates was split 1 to 1 and we had the whole conversion therapy on a woman thing in that one and to get the WLW you had to make the youngest person in your army have a baby then date that baby a week after she was born in your own perception of time. Then engage it’s 50/50 everyone can kinda be married. In terms of representation outside of the player and Houses we got Heather as a lesbian in RD and Leon as a gay man in SOV both don’t end up with a lover and die forever alone in their epliouges so about equally bad even if I like both characters.

Something I also realized in my own works. Harold’s big score is kinda the first time I actually did something about someone being gay, while lesbian couples already existed several times in my works, all with minor to quite major roles too.

I guess yeah trans women are “amab” but I consider them female . And there trans men are also less common.
I often see non binary characters that are known to be afab. Haven’t seen really much any that are stated to be amab though. I’m talking characters in general though not specific to hacks .
overal male lgbt+ rep is way less than female lgbt+
makes me wonder why that is.

But f x f have Edelgard one of the house leaders and very important character. The guys don’t get one of the house leaders. I just think Claude would really fit being bi between him and Dimitri.
