Yes, your eyes might be playing tricks with you. But they are not. I decided to make a poll about the great FE Vision Quest Rom Hack that is really beloved by the FEU. I know Pandan might discover this as a result and I have not spoke to him about making a poll if his rom hack is overhyped for the past 4 years since the complete version. If this upsets him, I can delete this post if I have to. Overall, this is a reasonable poll and I have a feeling if many of the users will defend it at all cost even at the end of your lifetime. I have spoken.
I was playing Vision quest, and dropped it midway. The reason for this was my Storch was very stat screwed and I hate weak lords. Maybe mine was a cursed run but I disliked the low growths but thatâs just my opinion. I also watched Vision Questâs LP after I got scared by seeing that edgy swordsmanâs stats but I didnât knew he will pull some wrapping stunt. I was scared by his avoid and speed and I got more invested in Code of Black Knights. So yeah, dropped it.
Surprisingly, I was more hyped for the sequel and got invested in it. Possibly because I wanted to see some big showdown with that Dark Sword and that intelligent druid. But it was cancelled so well, my hopes gone down the drain.
Silly Note :- If you already knew this game is overhyped then thereâs no point for making a poll because we know people will support it.
Vision quest astounded me in its production quality, its careful balancing, and the voice in plot and characters. Imho itâs one of the best fire emblem games ever made (hacks & mainline).
Goodness gracious do you not see how rude it is to make a post like this? Dan is a still-active member of this community, working on projects to this day. If your post has to have a âif this upsets (one specific person whose work the post is targeted at) I can take it downâ clause, itâs just a bad idea to post it in the first place. If you have feedback for Dan, you can post it on his thread, though VQ isnât being worked on anymore so it would be purely to share your thoughts. Donât do whatever this is.

Echoing whatâs said above, utterly pointless thread and not at all constructive. The way you phrase your own post clearly shows you know you shouldnât be posting it but youâre doing it anyway.
And all this serves to do is throw a creator under the bus because you think too many people like their work? Genuinely what is the thought process here?
Not to mention âoverhypeâ / âoverratedâ is a shaky and weak criticism of anything to begin with. And talking about how fans will âdefend it to the deathâ (I assume, your writing there is hard to parse) seems to indicate to me youâre not interested in hearing out a vote that goes against your own beliefs either?
I wouldnât even describe VQâs reputation as âhypeâ to begin with. It isnât some flash in the pan that people are raving about. Itâs several years old at this point and has earned a reputation as a leading light of the wave that ushered in the custom campaign Golden Age we undeniably now live in. I would say it has earned that reputation. Itâs an exceptional and consistent campaign. Taking shots at it with this âoverhypedâ framing has the distinct vibe of tall poppy syndrome, putting it in the firing line just because of its prominence.
The funny part is Pandan himself picked the vote that Vision Quest is overrated.

Forget that FE hacks exist for a second. Imagine itâs 2005, you just beat Sacred Stones for the 5th time and youâre hungry for a new FEGBA game. You find this cartridge called âFire Emblem Vision Questâ.
If such an event happened, I guarantee you would have an absolute blast. The map design, the varied and balanced cast, the fun and easy to grasp narrative arc, the polish. Itâs all there. Itâs just a great, creative FEGBA game.
Also, playing Vision Quest inspired me to make my own FEGBA game / hack. So I could never call it overhyped.
Is it perfect? No. Is it for everyone? No, I guess not. But itâs an awesome game and definitely worth the hype heaped upon it.
As much as I understood that this was to generate a debate about VQ, I also agree that creating this poll was unnecessary. Pandan has never refused to respond politely or been against criticisms about his project in the hack thread, from what Iâve seen, but as you yourself implied, you already knew that people wouldnât see this poll in a good light.
If each hack on this forum becomes somewhat successful, then soon there will be a thread for each one saying âis FE: (name of hack) overhyped?â. Definitely, no one wants that, right? At least, itâs not necessary to create a separate thread just to debate this, in my opinion. Want to know what people think about the hack? Well, go to the hack thread itself.
Of course he did cus Pandan stays promoting other devs, works and collaboration, continually using his platform to bring others into the spotlight. Truly a class act
