Introducing the Project Archives

As part of a forum cleanup process, we’ve created a new read-only subcategory, #projects:archives to hold abandoned projects to prevent “any update???” spam in old threads. Additionally, this will provide a means for creators of extremely old projects to post their work without suggesting that their project is still active.

Over the next few days, we’ll start moving threads into this new category. We recognize that making this category read-only will probably be a bit controversial, as it is certainly possible to have productive conversation about a project even without creator input, so we’re going to be extremely conservative with which projects we’ll be moving.

For now, we’ll be using the following criteria (as checked by a human): Threads in #projects that have had no creator posts in the past year, and threads that have already been locked due to spam will be moved to archives. Of course, we can also archive your thread on request, should you decide that you have no more interest in a project.

We’ll try to use a lenient definition of “creator” to account for projects headed by a larger team, but it’s inevitable that we’ll inadvertently move some threads that should not actually be archived. If you find your thread archived mistakenly, please let us know and we’ll happily move it out for you.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know in this thread.
