How to use GBA VC Injector for FE8 Roms?

Hello, FEU!
So, I am trying to use a GBA VC Injector (released by Asdolo, on GBATEMP) to convert .gba files to .cia, to insert into a modded New 3ds xl.
But some options I must select confuse me. Like, what “Save Type” should I choose? Is it safe to add a “Sleep Patch”?
For reference, I am trying to convert Bells of Byelen, Sacred Echoes and Vision Quest, all based off FE8.

Im not familiar with gba injector. Try “super injector”. Its what i use and its pretty easy. Just load up a .gba file (or nes, snes, sega, gb, gbc and ds) and itll pull info from its database. What it doesnt have you can just upload.

As a bonus too, it can take .3ds games apart so you can add mods right into the file then assemble it again

I don’t know how exactly the Sleep Mode Patch is implemented, but I would not recommend applying it to any ROM hacks, since there’s the possibility it could overwrite custom code for them depending on how it’s set up.

For the “Save Type”, I don’t think that’s something ROM hacks generally change, so it should be the same as what you’d do for vanilla FE8. I think the save type is automatically detected by the Injector, but I could be wrong. I know I haven’t had any issues with vanilla or ROM hack GBAFE injects using the default save type.

So, hilariously, I realized that the “Super Injector” you mentioned is the most recent, and far better, version of what I was using. “GBA VC Injector” was also Asdolo, but from 2016.
So, I was able to convert all the files and format them easier. Hopefully they will load on my 3ds.

Youre welcome! I got a hacked 2ds and have so many on my system lol. Made a lot for pokemon specifically

Any rom hacks you want to recommend me? I am new to the scene. Though gameplay is fun, I prefer wild and creative stories.

For Fire Emblem, 3 that come to mind are

  1. The Morrow’s Golden Country
  2. Vision quest
  3. Bells of Byelen

For pokemon I’d say

  1. Pokemon Emerald Rogue (its a fun roguelike one)
  2. Pokemon Renegade Platinum (updated platinum with all Pokemon obtainable
  3. Pokemon Crystal Clear (open world pokemon crystal game)
