How do you convert Fire Emblem Character Creator portraits to PNGS

Before asking, make sure to search! Press the :magnifying_glass_tilted_left: in the upper right to search.

FE Character Creator I have tried opening the files in both Microsoft Paint and Lex Taionis, but they don't show up. I have also tried the free PNG convertor but that isn't working either.
  • Steps to reproduce: Make and save a portrait in Fire Emblem Character Creator

I have recently completed the portraits for all the characters/forms I wish to use in my fan game. However, I wish to make further edits that aren’t available in Fire Emblem Character creator (the tool I used) such as further editing the hair styles and adding stuff like tattoos and headdresses. My immediate thought was MSPaint but all my files are saved as FECC and MSPaint doesn’t recognize that file type. Also tried uploading them to Lex Taionis itself but ran into the same problem. I know the solution is to convert the files, but the free PNG converter isn’t working either so I’m kind of stuck here.

I’m assuming you’re using the browser version of the fire emblem character creator

to save your result as png you need to use the “export” option and not the “save/load”
image

by clicking on the export button, this will appear at the bottom of your screen

you then select the output you want and you click export
and voila, you have a png!

For the work you’ve already done, you can use the save/load option to load them in to the program and repeat this operation.

Heads up, the quality of the portraits made with that kind of program is pretty bad
you would have a better results doing the whole process by yourself rather than using a character creator
there is also plenty of portraits made by the community that are free to use (with credit) and that are much better in term of quality

True. Though Usenti has caused me headaches in the past, programs like it polish portraits beyond things like FECC. It may be disheartening to hear after apparently making all the portraits already, but putting in the time and effort really comes through in the end.

there’s a what now

EDIT: oh right yeah there is, I found it less useful than I think v3?

Thank you a lot for this.

I will confess I never heard of Usenti before this post.
