There is a christmas alt for Zephiel in FeHeroes so you might think he would be more merciful.
But here’s the crackpot theory:
in Elibe, Santa doesn’t use reindeers, (they only got 6MOV) but Dragons
Santa is a legend, and so are dragons. Makes sense
so think about it, Zephiel probably didn’t get gifts for christmas because family issues are a fire emblem thing.
So now that he’s old and bitter, he’s gonna use the same ride as santa to deliver fire and destruction to the world.

It would be the beginning of a new fire emblem game, the prologue is him going through town getting praises and birthday wishes, and then at the end of the prologue he comes home to his father dead and some bandits escaping. he ends up having to balance his grief and the kingdom of pherae as he has now inherited it. However, he finds out that it wasnt just random bandits but that they were hired by a leader of a new orginization trying to revive Nergal’s vision, they killed eliwood to draw roy to them so that they could use him to open the dragon’s gate.
