So Shadow Dragon caught my attention again, and I’ve been wondering about some fun and surprising reclassing options, aside from the more obvious dragoknights and General Wolfgar.
What are your experiences with relassing in FE11 and which reclassed units surprised you the most?
Make Matthis a Sniper and make him kill Medeus.
Hunter Draug and Dark Mage Cord are classics
Have Caeda switch between Pegasus Knight/Cavalier/Myrmidon/Archer depending on what the situation calls for.
Maybe give Lena a few levels in Mage, heck, maybe even Levinmaster Lena!
Getting there is probably a challenge even for normal mode lol but sounds fun
Draug kinda looks like an unpromoted version of Sedgar/Wolf with how his growths work. For some reason I always wanted to make Cord grow into a stronger version of Barst so I never really thought about reclassing him
Lena has the potential to be the best Sage in the game for sure, I was experimenting with making her a Mage early on in chapters where warp wasn’t needed. Also Caeda can’t become a cavalier in FE11 for some reason… I haven’t tested her as an archer tho
Merric has no need for tome rank as Excalibur is the strongest usable tome anyway. Making him a curate lets him build staff rank, speed, and get easy exp.
Funny enough, I experimented with Merric and Lena swapping classes and they both do good in each other’s classes
Regarding Caeda, I forgot that she doesn’t get Cavalier until she promotes, when she can reclass into Paladin. Whoops!
And yeah, swapping Merric and Lena’s classes works well. Heck, while I mostly keep Merric in Mage before promotion to eke out as much Magic levels as possible, I have him stay in Bishop throughout most of his promoted life (especially since I prefer the look of bishops over sages in DSFE), that is, until he reaches the Magic cap…
Oh yeah, another wacky idea: Hunter Bord to train his bow rank in preparation for Warrior Bord?
Hunter Bord would be a waste of his sick axe rank. It’s his whole thing!
Roger is one of my favorite units in FE11. He can pretty freely swap between merc/fighter/pirate/hunter/knight as needed. 5 personal base speed and a high personal strength growth make him a lot of fun whatever you do with him. Merc Roger doubles Pyrathi pirates at base!
Navarre makes a fun cavalier, with the notable strength of having a high sword rank and pretty good offensive and defensive leaning stats with the important drawback of having middling to poor speed depending on difficulty for thresholds.
Having more movement and an extra weapon type over myrmidon allows him to actually be able to flex his high sword rank without being locked to it in a way that will hurt him due to the game’s unbalanced enemy weapon type coverage.
It’s certainly not good, quite a few Shadow Dragon characters have builds that don’t have any noticable downsides and have significantly better upsides, but it is a kind of build that I appreciate in a strategy game. A hyper-specialized one with important downsides.
While I like the idea of putting units in classes that give them some speed, I agree that using effective axes is Bord’s whole thing. About Roger, I never used him outside of reverse recruitment so I had no idea lol
Yeah, my whole reason for not using Navarre as a cavalier is the lack of speed. Although it may be an easier way to get to promotion so I can make him a Sniper and give him the small crit boost he deserves
All of the cavaliers/myrmidons have the advantage of being able to easily swap classes based on the situation with basically no downside since both have sword rank. If swapping a cav to myrm would make them double stuff it’s usually worth it, assuming they can use at least a steel sword.
Unfortunately, I lost the images to show you but I used the knight bros, Dolph and Macellan out of curiosity and I was really surprised! I made Dolph into a hunter/horseman and he’s very fast with good strength (basically another Hunter!Draug). Macellan became Berserker!Macellan and while not as fast as Dolph, he was VERY strong with the crit rate as well.
Make Wyrs a swordmaster. He is begging for that silver sword.
I never did it, like I only reclassed someone from warrior to berserker for the 5 crit and made a generic female in my girls only run my early mage. My early generic mage was pretty cool.
LevinSwordMaster Wrys for the win
