Hey guys, I’m working on a ROM hack based on a fictional version of a condensed colonial invasion of Oceania, with three enemy nations based on 17th century France and Brittain, late 19th Century USA, and one very loosely based on Japan, due to its imperialism in the 1920s. Many of the chapters will take place on ships, which I think is unique, and therefore fun.
I’d greatly appreciate some feedback and suggestions.
Well, that would be where the “Tides” part of the title comes from, then.
I think your idea is solid, and am looking forward to musketeer animations, however I’m curious how magical elements will be introduced. Given the setting, removing the magic triangle from the hack I don’t think is a good idea from a gameplay standpoint, so in this fictional setting, I suggest your create a magic precedence and weave it into the lore.
All i can ask for, is that the ship chapters feels like ship chapters, what i mean is a lot of harpoons, a lot of pirates and a lot of flyer enemy units, maybe an “axe” thats an anchor. Maybe a riot on the enemy crew for wharever reason oh! A “siren” sure would be could.
I guess for me it will depends on how it’s played. Like if it’s mostly just ships shottng cannons and such, I don’t see that being alot of fun for me personally. But if it’s all fire emblem like characters and classes and solid characters and storytelling, it could be fun if most the journey happens on water.
