Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light - Nintendo Switch Edition

~Hiya there!! <3

My name’s polynim, and in celebration of ihrd*, I decided to post a little project I’ve been working on… ~in secret~!

I’ve only just gotten into fire emblem after I played fire emblem Engage, and I was absolutely BLOWN AWAY! Like, I was in tears at the end of the game! I never though video games could tell a serious story, but oh man! It changed me as a person.

I mean, not just the story was great but all the character designs were so beautiful! This game has to have some of the best artists in the industry or something. Like, having a woman strap a manhole cover to her face? Absolute genius! I wish I could be a great artist like the Nintendo people when I grow up!

Whoops, sorry! I so got carried away gushing about my favorite Fire game I forgot to tell you about my project. XD

So, after playing Engage, i wanted to go back and see what other good Fire games there are to play and all my friends told me I should go play Fire Emblem Won because it’s the best one. Well, I didn’t find a game called that it turns out it’s called "Fire emblem Shadow Dragon and Blade of Light or something. Anyway, I wanted to play it but it was in Japanese, so I asked my friends and my one friend said he could help me turn it into Japanese so I got his help and together we worked on this project. This is my first hack project BTW please be gentle!

My friend said Nintendo put this Fire game in English out on the switch earlier but pulled it from the store because there was a problem with it or something, so I said we should take the English game Nintendo made and make it a real game. We did just that!

With my friend’s help we went the extra mile and put all the words and images from the Nintendo version of the game into the NES one, complete with the truly gorgeous font (well the best i could I couldn’t make it look as nice as Nintendo) and the color palette that really makes the game “pop”!!~

Now you can experience the best version of the English game on your very own computer oops I mean NES!

You can watch my friends and I playing this game and having a laugh over on tiktok!!!~~~~

If you want to play the new English version of the game you can check out the patch file thingy my friend created here on my Google Link: Fire Emblem SD&tBoL - Nintendo Switch Edition.ips - Google Drive
(oh yeah my friend says patch to the original Japanese ROM ok?)

I hope you really really like it, nya~ <3~!!!

Have a magical fantastical day! Now I’m gonna go play some Concord with my buddies, and maybe get around to beating the wonderful DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake!

its great actually, but they got rid of gender, and instead characters are referred to as “type A” or “Type B”, which doesn’t make a difference in the gameplay, its just that some people like to really rag on that change whilst the rest of the remake is quite great. I still like the SFC vers better because they got rid of Pachisi in the remake… miss that silly little boardgame gambling minigame

Addendum:
They also censored these classes in the remake to make them show less skin
Monster Wrangler (M)
Gadabout (F)
Warrior (F)

Monster Wranglers also weren’t in any versions of Dragon Quest III prior to the HD-2D remake, so while they may have had their outfit design modified to be a bit more modest compared to prior appearances in the grand span of the series as a whole, it’s not exactly censorship of Dragon Quest III, specifically.

Also, I recall this topic came up in an interview with Horii and another dev whose name escapes me at the moment, and they essentially outright said the outfit design changes were just made for CERO age rating reasons, since they wanted the game to get an A rating (equivalent to ESRB E, PEGI 3~7, etc.) and apparently having characters in such revealing outfits disqualified it from that per CERO’s current rating criteria.

In all seriousness, I’m not against censorship to make a game more clean: more so all for it, in fact. What I am against is “consultant groups” with hateful mindsets bringing identity politics into games. Normally I try to avoid bringing controversial stuff into my work, but I guess I decided to take the opportunity of the moment to let out a bit of something that’s been bugging me. Don’t go expecting any more, I promise!

To be honest, I wasn’t quite feeling it this year, so I couldn’t think of something funny enough. I guess the real humor was the friends we made along the way. :stuck_out_tongue:

I have no idea what was said here, but the shenanigans are over. This was a half-hearted attempt at a April Fools joke that I butchered at the end when I decided make the inital post “funny” with some awful writing. I have half a mind to get this post deleted outright (not yet). It also seems no one picked up on the real joke I ended up doing behind the scenes, so yeah. Nothing to see here, folks.
