Ooh great hack, one of my favorites so far (though I am biased towards nameable characters.
find order of the crimson arm reverse recruitment.
Hey! I was wondering, is there a finished version of this with supports? I know you posted the support list & i was wondering if you had one with all the supports added in correctly? I’d love to replay it with that! I played an old version with a lot of bugs lol.
A few thing i’ve noticed so far is:
Canoli’s description is that of an un-edited base FE7 one, and Nicolas has base Fargus’s battle quote lol.
Idk if you have a version with these fixed or not, but i’d love to play it after i beat this one! Thanks!
As a bit of a followup to my last post lol…
The silver longbow’s description is “A tactician’s bow” and this village plays ending dialogue for Talons alight, idk if ANY of this has been fixed, but its some things i’ve noticed lol.
Just finished it and here’s my final thoughts:
Its very fun, a lot of gameplay elements are what I enjoy and fit that vanilla feel I (not everyone) look for in hacks! I did have a lot of fun & my final team was well… mostly women lol.
a short list of my pros and cons:
Pros:
Units are very unique, everyone feels like they fill a good role when you use them and nobody feels super weak.
Enemies keep up and none feel like they’re just terrible and weak or pushovers.
The chapters (most, not all) feel well designed and a lot play to their strengths a lot of the time. I would say only a few aren’t good but the rest are rather fun!
Weapons are good, though it feels like sometimes that certain weapons are worse or better.
Cons:
Enemy phase is a pain. Early on, a LOT of enemies have 1-2 weapons, and you have very few, and very few units that could even use them (Except for like your magic units & bow units), it felt as if whenever i had the chance to bu Javelins/Handaxes, I would.
A lot of the “difficulty” in this hack feels less like “wow enemies have competant stats” and more like “There’s a wall of 15 enemies and you have 2/3 units”. The enemy density on some maps almost force you to have a physical tank to just use as bait.
1-2 weapons feel like a joke. 3/4 mt and 25 uses. I know it was done in an attempt to make them less overpowered, but it feels like some maps could almost use a 7 mt javelin or an 8 mt handaxe. The early game is also hampered by both’s innate D rank requirements instead of E, meaning the units you get early on that have E rank in axes/lances cant use them when they’re given to you, making enemy phase just… awful.
Speaking of weapon ranks, a lot of pre-promotes, and some base, non-promoted units have oddly low weapon ranks. I think some could use higher weapon ranks, it’d give some units some more uses and make the early game a tad easier/more relaxed for the player.
A lot of things are unfinished. Several boss quotes are base game dialogue + supports are quite literally just base fe7 dialogue that hasnt been altered, meaning that a lot of time, you have no idea if you’re gonna get a real dialogue between two characters, or you visit a house and some general is gonna say “You’ve lost yer way to the dread isle fer good…” and then give you a body ring. The “legendary” weapons and some others have descriptions that dont match their stat-boosts. such as the lance that Algimas gets saying “+5 str” but instead gives +3 res. I know it’s unfinished, but i found it more funny than a con per-say lol.
Certain maps feel based around you having something. Chapter… 18 or 19? I forget, but the one where you have to chase the warrior and stop him, feels SPECIFICALLY based around you using fliers or having a rogue. It feels really hard to beat at times. I’d say change it so that he needs to cover more distance, and the player doesn’t, or make more movement obstacles in his way. Knight of Knights ALSO feels like a huge struggle, if you’re slower than 6 turns, the village is just dead if you’re not using Sven. I’d say change the brigand to start BEHIND The mountain so you have a chance atleast… Also, the snag on that map doesnt work, so not even Wayland & His crew could reach it. It would need some fixing lol.
Lategame bosses feel WAY too overtuned/overpowered. Like, I kid you not a few i felt like I couldnt beat without serious RNG abuse. Speaking of which… I’m gonna spoiler this for anyone who reads it:
final boss spoilers
Jormund as a final boss is simply just, awful. Not in the sense of, “Oh he’s stupid and shouldnt be there story wise” I mean he’s WAY too overtuned for a final boss. Capped Defensive stats and a prf axe that gives +5 to both? My tactician would have had to hit all 8 last uses of prydwen, miss NONE to kill him. I didn’t use Wayland since he turned out well, awful, and I genuinely had to just beat him via renaming the .sav file of my hack to .emulator.sav, take it into builder, and reduce his HP to 1 via cheats and just have my tactician finish them off since they’re the only one with a good hitrate. I only did this because the fight felt like it really could not be beat, I may just be bad, but it did feel rather impossible.
I’d say make all the legendaries effective against him or just make his axe like, a non-weapon type and just make it some sorta other type weapon so nobody gets reaved by it like Algimas’s lance, or reduce his defensive stats because 10 damage per-round of combat by JUST the tactician is just, pathetic…
Also, remove his iron rune. I understand the want to make a final boss hard to kill, but may i remind you, she’d need 3 crits to kill him, 3 crits. Please, I BEG, remake the fight altogether. It needs some desperate rebalancing.
Overall, decent hack, needs some fine-tuning and it has the chance to be an amazing hack! Hope to see more, or it updated! ^^
Nice to hear someone else trying out (and finishing) this hack. It’s been a few years since I played it, but hearing a good review like that brings back memories.
Summary
It is a shame to hear that you struggled with Jormund. I loved him both as a character and a boss, and didn’t have any issues fighting him. Granted, it was kind of a pain, but I double teamed him with Chiara and Wayland (capped strength and speed on both) and didn’t have any issues taking him out. It did take a long time, as it was essentially just them chipping away at him with the occasional magic potshot from someone else.
Finished playing this hack today, pretty good experience, i liked how the story was told. I liked the characters, most of them were fun. I lost some characters but its funnier that way, i found the hack challenging but in a controlled way, in the sense that it wasn’t too crazy, which is pretty cool. I really liked some of the bosses, specially Jormund, my favorite fight so far.
I didn’t like Roswell and his ending, is it bait for a sequel? i don’t know i found it weird, but its not too bad.
Overall, pretty good hack, might play again someday. Thanks.
I remember playing this one a long time ago. At that time, the game had some serious bugs, like the game hardlocking during that battle with Roswell in the piramid (only with female strategistm because why not). Support convos were not implemented either. Sadly, I don’t remember what version it was so I don’t know if there have been changes or not. So:
Can anyone tell me if the support convos are still vanilla fire emblem 7 convos and if you have found any hardlocks? It would be much appreciated.
Played this game to completion like 5 times, no hard /soft locks
I dont think there are any supports but then again i never bother with them since they are so useless in most romhacks.
Supports are mechanically implemented but I do not remember there being actual support conversations. I DO remember there being a link to google cloud (or something like that) containing actual documents where there were written supports for a good chunk of the characters. It’s been a long time since I last checked though.
This one was really fun storywise. I really appreciate the care taken to make the player feel like they’re just one part of what’s going on, it was very immersive. Really helped sell the inevitable part of the story where the heroes are seriously on the back foot. I was so in the moment that I felt fear while being hunted in the uhh “holy light” map, stress while surviving the siege, and actual relief/joy when it was finally broken. I genuinely did not know how the protagonists were going to survive and wasn’t expecting something so sensible.
I also really enjoyed the scene where the protagonists were negotiating yet another alliance, it actually made me laugh out loud.
The final boss may have suffered from “I have a good point, but I’m being really stupid about it” disease, but still made me feel for him and his people.
I think the only negative aspects of the story were in the final few chapters, where it felt a bit rushed. Roswell in particular just kind of felt unresolved. I have guesses as to what happened, but without any answers it just feels like a dropped plot thread sadly.
Now that being said, id rather have this rushed final act, instead of the game not having an ending or something, it’s just sadly still a weak point even if it is preferable.
Gameplay-wise it felt kind of easy, which isn’t exactly a bad thing. It felt a lot like fe7, in that it was generally simple but had a handful of maps where I really had to lock in. It was nice. The ease of the hack meant I could use basically anyone I wanted, I even managed to use aceline the whole game despite her low move.
Speaking of aceline, bows are great in this hack and so are archers. Idk if I would’ve buffed them that way but I can’t deny it was effective. Bow users are probably the best units in the game, and that makes armor knights extremely good bait units. The AI just can’t resist hitting a unit that can’t counter, even if it only does 2 damage.
The changes to light magic were conceptually interesting, but I don’t think the stat changes were enough to make it truly impactful. 99% of the time my bishop was basically just a light themed myrm/swordmaster, until he got the S rank tome.
Limiting ranged healing staves was brilliant imo, there feels like there’s just enough, not so many that you feel like you can just spam them. I also love that in leui of an S rank staff there’s just a single fortify.
One other little thing I loved is that while playing, since I was recommended this hack by DL&tMoL I could see lots of places where you guys clearly had the same basic idea (buff bows&light magic/have a map where villages get nuked on a timer) and seeing the wildly different ways you accomplished it. It was great.
I’m not really sure how to finish this off, so I’ll just say I loved Adin, best character in the hack. Thanks for making this, I really enjoyed my time with it.
How is he stupid ? Can you explain a bit ? As far as I can see, author of this game tried his best to make him look cunning.
I’m sure you’re talking about the moral aspect but even in that regard I don’t think he had much choice. If the situation were as bad as he says, then it explains why most bandits are so brutal and aggressive and Jormund seems to be the calm one. I may be a bit biased about Clara but she’s a hypocrite like Jormund mentions. She didn’t hesitate to kill his uncle for the good of her country. She killed her uncle not because he was evil but he was a coward. He lacked the courage to face Zentirm and so he became their puppet. Jormund isn’t too different - he seeks to overthrow the weak and cowardly rulers, so that everyone can be prosperous. I don’t think Clara would’ve simply talked and agreed to Braxian’s terms. It is more than likely that they would still be treated as people of lower class because of how uneducated they are.
Jormund is not a saint but as the leader of his people he made the best choice for them. It would really be interesting if we could see his son in sequel but I don’t think that’s happening.
Summary
Regardless of any hypocrisy, Clara essentially just offers him what he’s after. Twice if you get her boss convo with him. He has no practical reason to turn her down, it’s entirely down to his ideology, which is stupid. If he had instead accepted her offer of peace he’d have not only been able to raise his kid, but he’d also have been able to solidify braxis’ new prosperity. He even admits he’s already won and that he’s just trying to maximize his gains when he fights you. He doesn’t even need to abide by the treaty, he could just sneak attack you later if he wanted.
His long term plan is also very stupid. He values the skills of the land he aims to conquer (science, literacy, agriculture) but also intends to cull the weak. He’s too limited by his experiences in braxis to understand protecting the weak is WHY these things exist. Not everyone is suited to fighting/hunting, and by letting them sit at home and work instead creates these advancements. It’s hard to figure out how to create a printing press if you spend 16 hours a day swinging an axe.
He’s incredibly cunning in battle, and war, but in terms of long term nation building he is incredibly inept…which is great writing actually. It makes perfect sense he has this blind spot, but I still can’t help but bash my head against the wall when he passes up the objectively correct moves that have zero downside for him.
Edit: I also would love to see his son in a sequel. It’s a shame it’s unlikely. Imagine if he ended up being one of the lords or something.
Hi. I ran into a bug where I defeat Roswell but the map continues even when I defeat the enemies.
I already retried the map and the bug remains.
Any help would be appreciated.
Is there going to be a second game? The end was to huge of a cliffhanger.
Hello there, does this game have support conversations ?, if yes, there a place that i can read them ?. Thanks.
They were never put in the game, but the dev was nice enough to release what they had written.
That’s cool, thank you very much
