Let me introduce you to my first romhack, Fire Emblem Mnesterophoniea, a 1 chapter romhack inspired by song XXII of the Odyssey, and by the song 38 of Epic: The Musical by Jorge Rivera-Herrans where Odysseus slaughters the suitors who threatened him and his family. With the help of his cowherd, his swineherd and his son Telemachus, Odysseus will have to kill the 108 suitors that took control of his palace.

This is a project I originally planned to release for SIGURD , but I overestimate my weak hacking skills. Still, I’ve learned A LOT of things by creating this, and it was sure a lot of fun to imagine and make. Because this is my first romhack, please tell me if you find bugs, problems, or grammatical monstruosities (English is not my native language). I will surely release some kind of patch to fix things right, and to improve it.

(To clarify: posting download links directly to .gba ROM files is illegal and against FEU policy. Please create a patch file for your hack and share it in that form instead – FEBuilder has a function for “save as UPS patch” that can be used to export one.)

I mean if that’s illegal. Isn’t playing rom games illegal too? Yet we’re still playing them. Why not let him download link to GBA file?

This isn’t up for debate, but sure, I’ll still take the bait. Emulation and modification of ROMs is not inherently illegal. The illegal step is the unauthorized sharing and acquisition of game ROMs online — that’s piracy. But ROMs can be acquired legally, such as by dumping them for personal use from a legally-purchased cartridge you own. Of course, FEU can’t enforce that people only play hacks using legally-acquired base ROMs, but enforcing the sharing of hacks on the site only as modification patches and prohibiting direct sharing of or linking to ROM files protects the site as a whole from responsibility if people use pirated ROMs to play them.

I’m sorry if this is a dumb question, but is there a specific game this is meant to patch over? I can tell it’s GBA-ish, but is there a specific one I’m supposed to patch over, or will any of them work?
