So I’m a guy that really likes his finales. You can have your fun with the early game or mid game sections, but the finale is where you get to let loose the spectacle. The music plays a big part in this, especially Fire Emblem. Whether it was you readying to square off against Nemesis’s legion in FE3H, or facing down Iduun in FE6, hard or easy, there’s usually great music involved. My preference (in this genre) is a slow, tense track. For instance, Funeral of Flowers is much different form the other boss themes, especially in regard to the Thunder version of it. But while I really like it (9/10), it’s not my gold standard as it feels bleak. The gold standard goes to Fates. That was a shocker for me as Fates had… questionable design to say the least, especially Corrin who is JUST a Marry Sue. But that ending music, man. As the battle and boss themes got more and more action packed, you’re met with a slower, hopeful, more intense track. The track echoes and slowly builds up to the moment you face the final boss. I’ve never played any of the Fates games and probably never will, but this one track makes me want to pick up Conquest and play through it. That’s my opinion, what boss music got you hyped?

FE5’s Searching for Victory is one of my favorite map themes for a “Final Battle”. I think it really provides a nice upbeat tone to a rather dark entry and story that Leif has to go through. It really sells the hope that Leif and Co. struggle to hold on to.
Shaman in the Dark is a great final boss theme. Its epic, contextually Idunn’s motif fits the sorrow/loneliness she endures. I think it really conveys the anguish she endures in a much grander way
