[FE8][WIP][27 Chapters][+14 Gaidens] Fire Emblem: Restoration Army (Attempt 3)

Another thing I just noticed is that in chapter 4 when you recruit bristol, she has displayed 4 mov but can only move 2 at a time. Haven’t finished chapter 4 yet to see if this fixes itself yet.

Edit: Playing some more of the chapter, it seems like the right side area where she spawns in is the only place where she has 2 mov even if she moves through plains. When she leaves the last forest to the left of the chest, she has 4 mov again.

This is due to the rain, and was intentional.

Roads have no movement penalty for infantry in the rain. But plains does have a movement for infantry in the rain. The first few tiles around her house were plains, so they only had two movement.

However some other player units have movement costs based on some of their promotions, Silas’s move costs at base are based on knight, and he’s not slowed by rain on plains.

That said I have tweaked the map slightly so that there are more road tiles in order to allow Bristol to get into fighting faster.

7734 fixed this issue for me! :tada: Some data was corrupted.

A new patch contains the fix. The patch works with old save data from my testing. I have not checked to see if it causes issues with emulators that are not mGBA yet.

Hey Ursus, it’s Nik again, was wondering if I could get some tips on Chapter 2x for whatever reason I’m having a hard time with this mission as well. Another question do you get Teffen companion? Because I don’t see him as a usable unit.

Are Silas’ animations as a light cavalier fixed too? When I promoted him, his animations never displayed. Instead, it was as if I had every combat animation deactivated.

Good catch. I had mislabeled the animation for light cav lances. It works correctly now. Thanks for pointing it out. It is now fixed.

For Chapter 2x I have made some tweaks to it in the most recent patch. I gave the player an additional turn to escape and delayed some of the enemy reinforcements by one turn.

General advice:

  • If you ever find yourself having difficulty with this hack and attempting all of the side objectives (or loot) focus on just one or the main objective, it will make things much easier
Advice for 2x
  • The easiest path through the level is to unite with Ash and then book it to the exit, that path is pretty clear and you should have units enough brute force to push your way through
  • Splitting your party into two groups is definitely the way to get the most loot, but it makes chapter harder. If you do spilt the party be sure to make use of the cracked walls to unite them quickly
  • Bristol has Slayer, which makes them excel in this chapter. Any monster they can’t kill they can safely take a huge chunk out of and set up the kill for another unit. I suggest using them whenever you feel like you are in trouble.
  • Wolf Spirit while slower and less accurate than Lightning gives Bristol a defense boost. This means that they can pretty safely move ahead of the party with that scroll equipped
  • Additionally the daggers in this hack debuff enemies. Ash can set up doubles for units like Irene and Lynx who wouldn’t necessarily double without the debuff on the target
  • If you can avoid fighting Castor and Pollux, I suggest you do. This is the first time you encounter them and you’ll have time to get revenge on them in future side chapters. That said beating them does make it much easier to progress through the level without time pressure.
  • When it comes to side objectives there are two, chests and a secret one which is to have Bristol kill the boss. It’s likely that Ash will acquire some chests by himself, but it’s unlikely that you will get all of the chests in this chapter. If you have Bristol kill the boss they get a powerful ability.
Teffen's Buddy

Teffen’s friend is a unit that he is able to summon when he get’s to level 10. Early on Bugsy is too small to fight alongside him, but later he will be able to.

Additionally if anyone has feedback about particular chapters and units I’m more than happy to hear it

Other then a few mobs carrying anima tomes when their not able to use and 9x bug that crashes, theirs another bug in lucil map where theirs 2 extra units that we shouldn’t be able to see, so we can’t finish the map due to the extra character bug. Otherwise from these from what I know nothing else, keep up the good work!

Which units were these? I should be able to fix this quickly.

Dorso and Ash seems to be the two units stuck in Lucil’s map for some reason, tho I’m unsure of anymore bugs past this point since I cannot proceed, hoping the Chap 9 bug will be fixed in the future so I don’t have to switch emulators to play, Also retreating out of any side chapter just reverts back to the prologue where nothing loads and it just bugs out or breaks the game (Of course your not suppose to retreat but in some ways, it shouln’t break the game like that and I would rather result in game over status :P), also a side note, while I do understand the easy/norm mode gives you a jagen, but while I understand an Armor is a “Promoted” unit in the game’s standard since all of our units are trainees, yet the mobs are already in the first advancement of promotions, so our “jagen” is just the same levels as them if anything I think he should be a already promoted general but with weak growths in general. Thats just my opinion that is.

That unfortunately makes sense. Thank you for the detail, I can see almost precisely how I messed that up. I’ll fix that later today.

Yeah, I’ll look into it again.

I understand this. Originally he was a general, but I found that it was a smidge too strong for normal mode, and the amount he had to be scaled back to set up kills made him unusable by chapter 3-4, due to the amount of xp he was eating and that he was still oneshotting things.

That said I’ll give him a silver weapon so he can more reliably kill big threats and reconsider having him be a general on normal mode.

Thank you for the feedback

Hmmm so I do understand that as a Jagen he would be too strong in easy/normal mode in retrospect then, so how I view every trainee is like a lvl 1 Lord like Roy as an example, their very weak but with insane growths if given the chance to grow, of course their even weaker then a lord normally since their in a pre-normal class of normal units, but I don’t see it being hard for our general jagen to not eat xp, if anything because of his stocky bulk defense as a general, it might be better to simply view it as a means to have him become a free attack dummy for our trainee’s to wail on mobs, we can easily give him weak weapons for him early for at least 2 of his weapon types he can wield (so something like a generals lance and axe) but make it his Axe is his strong steel weapon while his lance being his weak iron as his secondary weapon, since as a jagen unit, his meant to help you to the mid game without too much trouble while becoming weaker then our more newly accessed or leveled units down the line once lets say after chapter 5-7? or at least enough chapters before or when we need to split off our group.

I think if we’re having to adjust his general promote stats, heres how I would see him if we need to re-adjust him for the scaling of the game as well for his frail age lol

HP: 35 (His base is 37)
Str: 10
Skill: 8
Speed: 2
Luck (can be any number for later context)
Def: 12-14 (originally 9, for an armor thats Very low in terms of standards since axe users can still deal quite alot of dmg to him even this early around 2-4 per attack), since we’re promoting having 12-13 as a normal base defense makes him solid for the early mobs so that he can easily help become the dummy for our trainees towards the midgame or deal with certain bosses if we wanna take on the extra challenges in normal.
Res: 4 (3 originally, since we’re lowing his hp to compensate his defensive stats and to round him out better to become a jagen that won’t fall even before chapter 2 at worst, his res will need to be a slight bit higher but he’ll still take like 3+ from mages regardless)
Move: 5 (Armor is a 4, with promote makes him at least able to keep up with our trainee’s he’ll fall off much later due to his growths) and mounted units)

I’ll definitely continue to tweak him as a unit going forward. For now I’ll increase his defense and give him a different set of weapons.

New bugs:
-Aalez seems to bug out in arena, automatically ending the fight in arena with the fight never finishing
-Jala able to use master seal but nothing happens, her portrait seems to just black out.
-Fortress knight unable to wield bows and no bow weapon level after promoting
-Falcoknights being unable to wield swords when description says they can and having weapon levels
-Chapter 12, 3 light cavaliers have 2 steel sword/blades when their unable to use
-Dancer Carnelia can use lockpicks when she shouldn’t or doesn’t have lore to even use it
-Chapter 12, theirs a house that can’t be accessed on top left corner
-Chapter 12 grace was suppose to join us, she’s not in our unit roster upon enter the map
-Chapter 12, bottom right is a armory that has a poison bow thats 0 gold
(I just noticed, you got rid of Ash my only thief for Silas route and my Brigand in my units left to pick uhhh)
-Ansel promoting him to assassin or rogue makes him lose sword usage for some reason
-Iron crossbow has like 111 usage?
-Also can’t sell poison bows
-War cleric being able to learn martial arts when nothing in description says so?
-chapter 13 215 Body rings?!?
-chapter 13 215 Wyvernslayer Usages?!?
-Chapter 13, Rogue enemys is unable to use any weapons despite having weapon rank for it
-Chapter 13 last enemy mob in general, mutes all music
-Chapter 8 of Ryne, has misplaced indicators for the caravans.
-Chapter 13 Ryne, Enemy Soldier monk using penance bugs the game, making it just stuck their and unable to continue

New ideas maybe:
Morgan states to be able to use lockpicks, should just give him a skill to allow him to use it then to have it make sense (Gives incentive for players to wait to see if characters to naturally learn skills based on story)
Have a description for learnable skills you can obtain, since all description just says, “Use to learn skill”
Chapter 13 is for some reason a seize throne objective rather then a defeat boss or defeat enemy count
Loading the save file you gave me, gave me a funny unused file about Irene and Ryne as children model villagers (Ayo, is this a childhood romance I sense in the near future as a flashback?) anyways hope you get more support conversations in the future, where Irene and Ryne lover support kekw

Thank your for the report!

I will check these bugs out. I worry my edit to your save save messed things up which may have caused some of these issues due differences in the version you were playing and the most recently updated one (though not all of them). Sorry for that.

Can I have more details about this one? You mean where they are headed?

This is linked to the skills I had installed when I started to make the hack. Adding a skill that does this would require me to reassign all the skills for all characters and classes in the hack again (this would be the 4th time), and I don’t really want to do that again.

That said I will add that text to the dancer class. And in the same vein add text to the War cleric stating that they can do martial arts.

The reason for that is how Skillsystems is set up in FEbuilder. The skillscroll item has the same description for all scrolls otherwise the the skills would use 255 item slots. I can’t change it as of now.

It’s because you have to seize the enemy ship

Chapter 8 of ryne when you are shown the 4 caravans in a square formation, it targets the bottom right caravan, then the top left, and goes up diagonally. which is very awkward, also in the same chapter it states to defeat the bosses, but even after I defeated both the sniper and fortress general, the chapter didn’t end, it only ended when I moved Ryne to the end of the map close to where the bosses were with no context of me having to do so.

Gotcha I’ll take a look. Thank you!

Bugs:
Ryne Route seems to be going from 7 to 13 to 11x idk if its a bug to go back chapters but well here it is

Chapter 11x Rescuing the child green unit gives a Brigands Mark?
Chapter 12 seems to be the green unit attacking kinda uhhh glitches out while trying to save the villagers, also glitches out from male to female and the green npc name is Helena and not Paragon
chapter 12 Old man in the house has grammer mistake of “Me” instead of “be”
During the end of eliminating all the enemies in chapter 12, Silas states that we couldn’t save everyone even tho all the civilians were saved
Assuming Chapter 12x you got lazy and just used Madi for everything as a portrait and description?
After moving to Rynes route I seem to of lost Lucil and the rest of his small group, but Grace is still around for some reason ontop of losing my hired dancer from Silas route and some minor characters who were holding some important items

Notes:
Way to many brigands marks dropping and not enough of any other promotional item like master seals
Chapter numbers are messy and sometimes unreliable for keeping track prob needs cleaning
No stone user so just clogs up supply space for no reason

Sorry I should have been more clear. These bugs are all known. These are old chapters in the process of being updated. The last complete Ryne Chapter is chapter 8.

There should have been a dialogue statement saying that.

For example I changed promotion items to make the master seal the only required one, and cut the various different promotion items. But I didn’t do that in the incomplete chapters, yet since I will have to go through and fix them later anyway.
