[FE8]The Lazberia Project (Berwick Saga Demake)

It’s ironic. The King of Thracia does something Berwick Saga related.

My first ever fully planned campaign to be released into this wonderful world! And it’s a demake of Berwick Saga created by Kaga himself. Now, like other demakes, I do not intend of replacing the original game itself, but I intend to create an FE8 inspired Berwick experience for all to share.

This hack uses the translation patch by Aethin, shared on Serenes Forest, with some minor edits and typo corrections, included some more localized character names, such as Esteban —> Estobar and some other minor changes such as that.

There’s as many chapters as are in Berwick Saga, as in:
15 main chapters.
22 side chapters.
4 paralogues.

I am in need of Berwick Saga portraits. I already have a few as listed in the credits, but I need more characters ones. I’m fine if I don’t get all of the minor boss portraits, I can just use generic portraits for them, but I need character portraits (both unpromoted and promoted for most of them), if I don’t get any portraits, I can make some myself, but I am sadly new to portrait making and such, and I would greatly appreciate the assistance. I will keep a list of all the characters that I do not have in this post.

Major Changes:
-Happiness is no longer a thing.

-there’s no such thing as a shield rank.

-anima has all been grouped together.

-supports are now visible.

-I may or may not give Derrick a prf as my real only change to the original game’s narrative. I’ll think about it.

-promotion events and paralogue prompts happen via event, not by happiness or weapon rank anymore.

-I self-randomized Saphira’s gold ask. You’re welcome.

-Lebough, the coolest priest to ever exist, is visible in the town section.

-the town section is now an open-exploring area in between every chapter. I have removed it being able to be ventured after an x-2 chapter because there is an interlude chapter straight after that.

-mercenary prices are now static and no longer depend on level. So long, cheap Ouro.

-the Maoza Wolf has been greatly buffed due to it’s “requirements” to get.

-some abilities, such as Iado and Overwatch, have been replaced with similar abilities due to my inability to make them abilities.

-the maps are now tile-based, and the turns are now regular FE turn order. I’m so sorry…

-injuries still exist…

-constitution now exists, meaning rescues are a thing.

-skill stat has been removed from the game, and all weapons have increased hit rate.

-weapon ranks no longer give you hit rate.

-some enemy classes (ie-snow brigand, desert brigand) have been grouped together into just brigand.

-stat bracketing has been removed, and classes just have normal class caps now.

-Search ability has also been removed, and will be replaced by desert treasure that only Czene, Sedy, and Axel can find. Sometimes, if the treasure is guarded, an enemy will appear when you step on the treasure. Sometimes, an event will play will out and the character kills the enemy and gets exp.

-orbs have been replaced with staves and tomes.

-arrows no longer exist. Javelins and such are recharge items similar to the *Pallas items.

-Sherlock has been so greatly buffed, god help us all.

Uhhh, it sounds like you don’t have the insane technical ability required to accurately remake berwick saga in FEgba. Therefore I suggest playing faster and looser while still trying to keep a similar gameplay flow and unit design elements. Good luck!

(Also my insane pet theory is that Esteban is actually Istvan)

Berwick Saga uses midis if you want to port more tracks yourself. PSF2 files can be loaded in VGMTrans to dump the midis and soundfonts. I ported Knights of the Plains kind of lazily earlier, so you could probably get some use out of it. It absolutely and utterly requires the 16 Channels - 12 Sounds patch, and NIMAP. I could probably make more if I get bored.

Yes, mostly things such as cliffs, rivers, grass, and mountains I somewhat rushed, but I will definitely try to make them look a lot more natural on a later date. As for the forest placement, I took inspiration from the original game on wherever I put forests and paths and such.

i think you should take more creative liberties with the forests since this entire project is a creative liberty

I have a somewhat loose remake of Ch1’s map as well. From your current maps, it looks like you could really use it. It’s not amazing, but it’ll do. Go wild, again.

If you notice the new edit I made to the post, some of the portraits have been spliced by me. I’ll post them in their own separate spliced portrait area later, but for now, they have been labeled as “can be reworked” in the portrait list. If anyone here feels as though my portraits are not the best for that character, as I have said in my important help wanted area, then feel free to make a new portrait for that character. I am sadly very new to portrait making and not very experienced at it.
