[FE8] The Dream Spirit (Four Kings sequel), Chapter 5/10 In Progress

This week, I got some music ready for the upcoming dungeon. I’m really glad I got the Hoenn horns/trumpet/strings in my rom (along with Castlevania bass and F-Zero guitar). Working with these instruments is super cool.

Volcano Valley Act 2 from Sonic 3D Blast Genesis (for dungeon interior)

Fire Field from F-Zero Climax (for dungeon battle theme)

Arid Sands Night from Sonic Unleashed (for dungeon exterior)

Working on maps for the next dungeon, Mount Felsen. Here’s a showcase of climbing up the mountainside. For this dungeon, it’ll be split in two parts: this exterior with Madeline, Terry, and Grace, and then the mountain interior with Lionel, Regis, and Isaac. That’ll be coming up after this part is done.

Sometimes, you just need a really tiny battle.

Moving onto Lionel’s side of this dungeon, here’s a little cutscene for entering the place. It’s pretty short and simple, but I like how it came out.

Another amazing innovation by @Scraiza : custom background gradients!

I was originally intending to use the cloudy background for the mountain exterior, but that unfortunately bugs out with the map attack effects from skillsystems, so I opted for the FE6 chapter 24 background instead. Normally this is a black and blue gradient, but I wanted to find a way to change it.

Scraiza whipped up some custom code to not only edit the colors, but even allow different chapters to use different colors! I’ll definitely be messing around with these palettes more for different locations.

The background colors can also produce some laughs.

A new dungeon begins, and with it, a fork in the road…

Looks like fun choice hope advancement goes smooth.

Felsen Shrine’s got a new enemy type. They’re tired of being pushed around for block pushing puzzles… Now the blocks are out for blood!

First time making a wholly custom class and animations on my own. Obviously it’s a super super simple animation, it’s just a box. But I’m still proud of it! And I hope it’ll be an interesting enemy type to fight.

does this mean you have the power to make pride flag backgrounds if you want to

If I can figure out the exact way this thing bugged out, then maybe.

Beware the blocks!

Time for a boss fight. And with a boss fight comes a sick boss intro cutscene!

Super proud of how this came out, from the song to the little effects. The cutscene stops before explaining the battle mechanics–you’ll have to wait and see for those! But right now, I gotta make my FEE3 trailer before the deadline.

Cant wait for the FE3 trailer, been nice working with you.

Hermes can handle the weight.

The dungeon and boss are just about done! I’m working on the post-dungeon scenes to finish up chapter 3, but once that’s all set, expect a new patch to release shortly.

Trying to draw more of my own CGs (WiiSportsRemote is great, but I can’t rely on him for everything), and I think I’m getting better. A post-dungeon dinner with Grace and Madeline.

XD, enjoy your CG making journey

Waiting on some technical help before putting out the new patch, but chapter 3 is fully done. While I wait, I’m going back to Uralt and the Isle of Asche to put some flavor dialogue in all the houses you can visit, so that they aren’t empty. Some are tutorials, some are worldbuilding, and some are just for fun. So check out all the houses in the next patch, and see what they have to say!

Currently doing two last side things before releasing completed chapter 3, both of which are on the Isle of Asche. The first thing I just finished, which is an item lottery.

Give Andrea here a lottery ticket, and you’ll receive a random item from a pool. Right now, there are only 1-star tickets, but as I add more items to the game, I’ll add higher ticket tiers with different item pools to each of them. You’ll be able to find tickets all over the place, including in some shops. Of course, it’s still gambling, so you’re liable to get junk. But that’s why people like it, right?
