[FE8] Sacred Stones Reforged v1.0.4

Picture for context, hard to show what I’m talking about, did a run of Ephraim route and just wanted to do Eirika but I’m guess it doesn’t allow you to save during ironman mode, once you lock into the Creature Campaign you can’t start a new game is what I’m guessing. Well I can’t upload the image because I made this account just to post on your thread because I enjoyed the hack so much! Played through it in one setting and wanted to explore everything you had to offer and was just disappointed that I didn’t want to delete my save just to try another route.

Heya. I worked on the iron mode implementation. If there’s any way possible for you to share the save file with the creature campaign save with me it’d help me with figuring out how to fix this. If I understand the rules correctly, you should have the trust level to be able to share files 24 hours after your first post.

Alternatively, an admin/mod could give you the rights immediately. @CT075 Is it ok if I ping you for this?

We generally don’t give TL2 perms on request. However, it looks like the user in question has already achieved the requirements.

I’m not sure how you wanted me to send the files or if you meant the actual save files, but I can just present the current situation, I also think in vanilla there should still be a new game option when pressing start.

You seem to have an active suspended save (indicated by the scroll to the right of your save file). Regardless of where you are in an ironman save, if it has an active suspended save you need to clear it before you’re allowed to create a new save. The reason for this is because technically one could go through the following steps if this option was not enabled:

  • Play through chapter 8, for example, on save slot 1, for example.
  • Some optional unit A dies.
  • Re-boot the game.
  • Start a new save file in save slot 2. This deletes the currently active suspended save in save slot 1.
  • Re-boot the game.
  • Load save slot 1.
  • Start the game at the start of chapter 8 before optional unit A died.

This would effectively allow one to circumvent the rules of an ironman playthrough. The only way to re-enable the ability to create a new save file is to clear the suspended save by either:

  • beating the chapter/encounter (in creature campaign you might have the ability to retreat) or
  • choosing the ‘Erase Data’ option in the main menu and selecting the save slot with the suspended save.

Okay that worked, not sure why that was the case I’m pretty I tried everything I would in vanilla and it wouldn’t work but I can start a new save now, but the issue also arising at the split route I couldn’t save it to another file for obvious reasons on Ironman because I can’t save, so that’s a bummer but it’s fine.

Have to say since i continuing my playthroug. I dig the new colours Lute has in battle, her portrait should be recoloured to match . I think this is probably one of the best changed up version of sacred stones.

Thank you! I do plan on making a minor edit to her portrait to reflect the colors used in her battle anim. Those colors were picked based off of her official promo art, so I think it’d make sense to have her portrait resemble it slightly more as well

Oh I would like to see that promo art if possible as I only seen her with the purple and light blue. I just really dig the pallete on her used in reforged. Blacks and purples make me wonder if she was planned being able to use dark magic aswell.

This is her official promo art for FE8, the white cape didn’t really work well with the palette limitations but I tried to get her color scheme in game to match this

I’m so amazed how the character sprites in their battle animations actually resemble the respective characters! Give my compliments to the spriters for this!

So far I’m loving this mod. The free roam bits and the new characters really add a new flavor to the overall game which I like. Might even do a Lunatic Iron run after my initial Hard/Classic run.

From a cursory read through of this it seems like bosses won’t drop skills on hard mode? Is this correct? and if so why?

I 'm sure i don’t play on hard as I never do that and I haven’t noticed skills dropping

Whoever defeats the boss gets their skill, automatically. But not all bosses give skills. Some bosses dont even have skills.

The mechanic where bosses drop a skill for the unit that defeats them is unique to lunatic mode. The reasoning is that I think the droppable skills add another layer of complexity to a run, and lunatic’s increased difficulty is enough to warrant giving you additional skills. Outside of lunatic, I feel it’s better to get an idea of what each unit is like with just their intended abilities.

Not sure how bosses dropping skills on lunatic makes it harder

I guess I can see the logic there. Looks like a fun hack, I’ll probably wait till 1.03 is released before getting it
