[FE8] Project Jade -- A Sacred Stones Overhaul [2.4 UPDATE!] [COMPLETE]

I tried to make the supports that are on other routes build really fast to make up for the lost time (I also really like the Franz/Amelia support, but wanted Franz to be with Eirika and I preferred Amelia’s introduction in Fort Rigwald, plus her relationship with Duessel makes more sense), though some of them could probably use some tweaking.

Syrene replacing Seth on Ephraim route was directly inspired by I believe it was Princess’ Lament? It makes sense to have a Frelian general accompanying Ephraim since he’s technically in charge of the Frelian army from now on. All I did was basically change Seth’s portrait to Syrene lol

And Tana replacing L’Arachel on Eirika route was just kind of a product of “I need somebody to say these lines but L’Arachel is with Ephraim.” (Figuring out how the ending of Hamill Canyon should go was a challenge lol)

I’ll look into Tana’s sprite, cuz yeah I just noticed how different the sprites actually are. I’ll check the repo and see if there’s an updated one.

Also, please point out any typos and any parts you felt were off! Most of the dialogue and such is on first draft mode, and it’s hard to proofread an entire game lol

I did not implement this lmaoo but I can if people want me to

Fair enough. I Amelia’s support with Duessel makes more sense and is more heartfelt, I’m just a sucker for cute romance and that’s why I like Amelia and Franz. Tana and Syrene’s placement doesn’t bother me at all, hell I’m actually glad Tana gets more time because it always bothered me she’s just kinda “there” in vanilla despite being a whole ass princess and one of Erika and Ephraim’s closest friends just she still mostly just say’s L’Archael’s lines mostly and it’s kinda off a bit lol. Speaking of Tana I feel her and a few more notable characters could use some custom animations/sprites. Like I know Innes has one that Scared Trilogy uses, same for L’Archael. Just to give them a bit more flavor like you’ve done for Erika, Joshua (LOVE THAT HE HAS THE HAT 10/10), etc.

I’m finishing up the game today so I’ll take any notes. Thank you for listening to my nitpicks/feeback.

I edited the support thresholds, and if everything works as intended (not a guarantee lol, though it worked when I tested it) then Amelia and Franz should get their C support right at the start of Ruled by Madness, and get their next support every 2 maps, meaning even without the Paralogues, they should be able to reach A support by endgame, presuming you haven’t paired them up with somebody else. It might not work in your version of the game still, even if you update the patch, because I’m not sure how many support points they have on your current save, but any subsequent playthroughs should work this way.

I’ll upload a new patch later today.

I think that’s a great way to tackle it. For characters who have supports but don’t have a chance to engage due to the split I think they should have their C rank unlocked from jump once the armies rejoin and then at that point it’s up to you the player if you care that much to invest further.

Some of them take one or two maps to get the C support still, I think, but from Ruled by Madness to Endgame2 (Fomortiis fight), there are 7 maps, or 12 if you unlock the Paralogues, which should be plenty of time to get all of the supports you want, especially with the Paralogues.

Is Mason supposed to be defeated in chapter 12? I did so and was unable to recruit him, yet he is a recruitable character. What did I do wrong?

You probably had to talk to him first? in order to make him recruitable in the chapter after the boat

Mason isn’t recruited in Chapter 12, he’s recruited later on. You can kill him in Ch 12 without any repercussions. He gets defeated, but he can’t fall here, so he must retreat.

Also, new patch uploading in just a few seconds. Edited some sprites (I gave hero Josh a hat, that took me like 3 hours to make lmao), and messed with supports, and some fixes.

You only get one chest key and one door key in chapter three, and there are three enemies with stealable, non droppable items, including two stat boosters.

How is Colm supposed to open three chests and steal three items? Do you want us to turtle?

It’s hard enough just keeping those three dudes alive for Colm to reach them.

Dude, it’s chapter 3. If you are struggling to strategize there, you are screwed :skull:

Looks interesting.

Would you not consider making three-branched promotion for Tier 0 classes aswell?

recuit get lance cav
journeyman axe cav
pupil get Monk

Or something along the lines

Read my comment again. Specifically:

“Do you want us to turtle?”

No amount of strategizing will ever get Colm to do these things in less than 6 turns, since he needs an action each.

For a chapter with such a small map, that’s a slog. I don’t have troubles strategizing, my problem is that my strategies would finish the chapter sooner but I have to wait and do nothing while Colm slowly does one thing at a time because he’s the only unit who can.

The only thing I can do to make Colm’s job easier is to use the door key to open the north door rather than the south door.

Look, what is it that you want? You want to speed-run the game? That chapter always lasts around 7 or 8 turns if you want to take everything, even in vanilla sacred stones. You want an army of thieves? Every enemy dropping keys? Or maybe you just want to complain (no need to answer, I know it’s this one)? Have some patience.

Dude, people can have a different opinion than you, that doesn’t mean they must be flaming.

I want to not need to have my whole army to stay still and do nothing as it waits for the only thief to do the side objectives.

There are multiple possible solutions: another droppable chest key, more uses on the existing one, making one of the enemy held items droppable, moving one of them to another enemy in a later chapter.

I used the door key and chest key on the southern chest. I used colm to unlock all three chests and then immediately rescued him with Vanessa the moment he unlocked the third chest. Then I took him and dropped him the same turn such that he was in the range to steal Talisman. I was blocking the choke point with Gilliam and they had ranged attack so it was very easy to keep them alive. After that I lured the brigand guarding the gate, stole his pure water and then lured the mercenary with Franz. Rescued him the next turn and stole the body ring.

If anything you’ll just have to waste 2 or 3 turns at most. Not much. Still I agree, some more chest keys would’ve sped things up

Which doesn’t mean I should respect said opinions. Opinions are supposed to be disscused and criticized, not accepted blindly. I’m free to believe your take is unimportant, the same way you are to think I am a cretin (which I would totally understand because I should have written my opinions in a less harsh way, sorry for that).

Ok yeah, same for me. Sorry.

I think most the other romhacks and Original forgot that Gracia is formerly Renais Commander. For my option, i think he should have been Hero class with lower stats like seth from the star with axe rank C or B and Sword rank D.
I think his Class colors should be brown like his potrait and i think you should use hero class: The one without shoulder spike like raven or Linus from F7. That would be awesome

  • In game they call him Great Commander even knight Seth respect him and yet he star with tier 1 class. This is so weird

Okay, so Bonez can’t be talked to by any of my characters. I guess I should either spare him until the end or defeat him if I want him to be recruited?

Honestly I might do this. Garcia tends to fall off in all of my playthroughs so buffing him slightly and making him a Tier 2 class could be interesting. This does make things a bit weird tho as you end up with like, 6 possible Heroes in the army lol But I guess that’s fine.

When you defeat him, he respawns and joins your party. There used to be a glitch where if he was the last enemy on the map, you wouldn’t recruit him when killing him, but this should be fixed in the recent patch update.
