[FE8] HoloEmblem: The Search for Seiso (42 Chapters) [v.1.8.2]

You get all of them as long as you meet the conditions for each gaiden. The gaidens happen in order so if say you have Suisei dead you will go straight to the third gaiden with Korone/Okayu/Shirakami/Mio after the first one as long as they arent dead

re: Laplus you are never really forced to use anyone, Laplus is pretty good if trained but she is not necessary at any point, not even on her gaiden chapter (which actually has her unavailable due to plot reasons)

You never have to use any character Laplus is just one of the best users of the blossom scroll that you get in chapter 5. The game is much easier if you have two strong characters that have capped stats for some of the late game chapters. On my first run I used Bae and Laplus but anyone will do, you get a lot of stat boosters and the character that got the blossom scroll should be close to capped stats. Preferably one of the characters with capped stats should be a physical unit as there are some magic seals (idk what they are called) that stops units from using magic. The post I made earlier is based on strats that require the least amount of brain cells as possible, basically throw stat boosters on a character that has access to a tier 3 class and have them kill everything and all other enemies can be cleaned up with the blossom scroll user, on maps with two paths like chapter 20 you have one strong character on each side.

The reason I used Bae and Laplus is mainly for the fact that fire tomes are buyable in the prep screen and I am to lazy to capture enemies for weapons or stock up on 1-2 range physical weapons from shops. You never need anything other than fire tomes from Bae as she with capped stats will kill everything with double crit and Laplus gets Corona that negates defence killing most enemies in one round as well (Laplus needs a better tome for enemies with more than 100hp). In this hack you get so many magic rings that Bae will most likely cap magic if you don’t get very unlucky.

Good to know. In my current run I’m using Aki, Noel, Flare, and Choco as my main troops. I’d definitely try what you said next time

Hi just started chapter 11 and immediately found out the summon option isn’t there (so sad, my favourite class is precisely the summoner), so i tried different things to hopefully make it work and discovered a couple of things:

  • Rushia (starting class, necromancer and druid) and Risu (promoted to summoner in this chapter just to check) summon option won’t show up as long as Baelz is on the team or alive, so either i let Baelz die/cut her out of the main team or i won’t be able to summon at all with them (at least in this chapter);
  • Since i picked shaman for Azki, i also tried to promote her to summoner and surprisingly her summon option works fine, with or without Baelz, although you can’t use it when there is already her minion on the field (normally in this case the minion would simply be teleported to the summoner);
  • When promoting Rushia to necromancer, i noticed her class skill switches to summon again, so you end up with 2 of the same skill (they dont stack), fortunately that’s not a problem because you can forget one of the two and summoning works just fine (unless you have Baelz in the team);
  • Totally unrelated, if you start chapter 11 with just 2 or 3 characters, the group of cavaliers on west side will fight either Baelz or Mumei who appear to be just one space outside of the map even though they are not on the active team, i didn’t experiment to much into this bug because it wasn’t an issue, just found it funny lol.

For now i’ll probably resort to not using Baelz even though she is quite strong. I’m on yabai but i’m not a hardcore player, i save game states mid chapters since i really can’t be bothered to lose hours for just a mistake or oversight on my part, so i’m not concerned about difficulty, especially after completing ch10 which i heard is the hardest one (and now i know why).

Anyway i’m having a lot of fun so far and i already cannot wait for the remake (or sequel idk) you are making, i was wondering how long will it take to complete it, even if it’s just an estimate, are we talking months? One year? Or even more? Just curious, that’s it. Keep up the good work!

Thank you so much! Yea theres something fundamentally wrong with what I did with summoning. It matters a lot on who’s deployed and all that jazz.

The rework is being worked on, hopefully i’ll dish something out soon and Holo2 is being written still!

As always, thanks for playing!

Hello there! I’m on chapter 21x5 and my game freezes after escaping, what could possibly be the reason?

For your second bullet point I believe that is vanilla FE8 summoner mechanics. I don’t have a completely vanilla rom set up to a point where I could get a summoner quickly, but the randomizer Yune shouldn’t have altered anything or added any patches, so I believe it is still running vanilla. Anyway I tested using a summoner in that, and I was never given the ability to summon while the summon was still alive.

Maybe future games or GBA hacks added that which is causing the confusion? I don’t know every patch or ASM available, but I could totally see someone making something that allows summoners to do that.

Last time i played FE8 was a couple years ago and i actually don’t remember exactly how it worked so you are most certanly right. Then the bug is the other way around lol, not complaining of course, barely changes anything.

On a different topic, asking to anyone since i haven’t found much about it, how do chance based skills work when a character has 2 or more (sure shot, sol, colossus, etc.)? I am kinda curious because i wanted to try promoting Botan to a sniper, she starts with Deadeye and gets Sure shot on promotion, so my question really is if both skills have a separate chance to trigger on any given attack, and if so can they both trigger at the same time or one takes priority over the other?

In short, you can only trigger one offensive skill at a time. However, there are exceptions.

Astra’s first hit cannot activate other offensive skills. However, the remaining 4 hits can activate other offensive skills, and their damage will override Astra’s 50% reduction if applicable. Aether’s 2nd hit cannot activate other offensive skills as far as I’m aware, but if Aether activates during Astra, Aether’s extra hit occurs immediately before resolving any remaining Astra attacks.

As for priority, there probably is a priority system but I do not know what exactly the priority list is. But if you have multiple offensive skills, their activation is independent of one another.
