You get all of them as long as you meet the conditions for each gaiden. The gaidens happen in order so if say you have Suisei dead you will go straight to the third gaiden with Korone/Okayu/Shirakami/Mio after the first one as long as they arent dead
re: Laplus you are never really forced to use anyone, Laplus is pretty good if trained but she is not necessary at any point, not even on her gaiden chapter (which actually has her unavailable due to plot reasons)
You never have to use any character Laplus is just one of the best users of the blossom scroll that you get in chapter 5. The game is much easier if you have two strong characters that have capped stats for some of the late game chapters. On my first run I used Bae and Laplus but anyone will do, you get a lot of stat boosters and the character that got the blossom scroll should be close to capped stats. Preferably one of the characters with capped stats should be a physical unit as there are some magic seals (idk what they are called) that stops units from using magic. The post I made earlier is based on strats that require the least amount of brain cells as possible, basically throw stat boosters on a character that has access to a tier 3 class and have them kill everything and all other enemies can be cleaned up with the blossom scroll user, on maps with two paths like chapter 20 you have one strong character on each side.
The reason I used Bae and Laplus is mainly for the fact that fire tomes are buyable in the prep screen and I am to lazy to capture enemies for weapons or stock up on 1-2 range physical weapons from shops. You never need anything other than fire tomes from Bae as she with capped stats will kill everything with double crit and Laplus gets Corona that negates defence killing most enemies in one round as well (Laplus needs a better tome for enemies with more than 100hp). In this hack you get so many magic rings that Bae will most likely cap magic if you don’t get very unlucky.
Hi just started chapter 11 and immediately found out the summon option isn’t there (so sad, my favourite class is precisely the summoner), so i tried different things to hopefully make it work and discovered a couple of things:
Rushia (starting class, necromancer and druid) and Risu (promoted to summoner in this chapter just to check) summon option won’t show up as long as Baelz is on the team or alive, so either i let Baelz die/cut her out of the main team or i won’t be able to summon at all with them (at least in this chapter);
Since i picked shaman for Azki, i also tried to promote her to summoner and surprisingly her summon option works fine, with or without Baelz, although you can’t use it when there is already her minion on the field (normally in this case the minion would simply be teleported to the summoner);
When promoting Rushia to necromancer, i noticed her class skill switches to summon again, so you end up with 2 of the same skill (they dont stack), fortunately that’s not a problem because you can forget one of the two and summoning works just fine (unless you have Baelz in the team);
Totally unrelated, if you start chapter 11 with just 2 or 3 characters, the group of cavaliers on west side will fight either Baelz or Mumei who appear to be just one space outside of the map even though they are not on the active team, i didn’t experiment to much into this bug because it wasn’t an issue, just found it funny lol.
For now i’ll probably resort to not using Baelz even though she is quite strong. I’m on yabai but i’m not a hardcore player, i save game states mid chapters since i really can’t be bothered to lose hours for just a mistake or oversight on my part, so i’m not concerned about difficulty, especially after completing ch10 which i heard is the hardest one (and now i know why).
Anyway i’m having a lot of fun so far and i already cannot wait for the remake (or sequel idk) you are making, i was wondering how long will it take to complete it, even if it’s just an estimate, are we talking months? One year? Or even more? Just curious, that’s it. Keep up the good work!
For your second bullet point I believe that is vanilla FE8 summoner mechanics. I don’t have a completely vanilla rom set up to a point where I could get a summoner quickly, but the randomizer Yune shouldn’t have altered anything or added any patches, so I believe it is still running vanilla. Anyway I tested using a summoner in that, and I was never given the ability to summon while the summon was still alive.
Maybe future games or GBA hacks added that which is causing the confusion? I don’t know every patch or ASM available, but I could totally see someone making something that allows summoners to do that.
Last time i played FE8 was a couple years ago and i actually don’t remember exactly how it worked so you are most certanly right. Then the bug is the other way around lol, not complaining of course, barely changes anything.
On a different topic, asking to anyone since i haven’t found much about it, how do chance based skills work when a character has 2 or more (sure shot, sol, colossus, etc.)? I am kinda curious because i wanted to try promoting Botan to a sniper, she starts with Deadeye and gets Sure shot on promotion, so my question really is if both skills have a separate chance to trigger on any given attack, and if so can they both trigger at the same time or one takes priority over the other?
In short, you can only trigger one offensive skill at a time. However, there are exceptions.
Astra’s first hit cannot activate other offensive skills. However, the remaining 4 hits can activate other offensive skills, and their damage will override Astra’s 50% reduction if applicable. Aether’s 2nd hit cannot activate other offensive skills as far as I’m aware, but if Aether activates during Astra, Aether’s extra hit occurs immediately before resolving any remaining Astra attacks.
As for priority, there probably is a priority system but I do not know what exactly the priority list is. But if you have multiple offensive skills, their activation is independent of one another.
Happy update day! Last month was less than stellar for me in a lot of ways and I was unable to make a lot of progress. However, the Search for Seiso continues regardless.
For April 1st, I released the RUBALANCE as an experimental demo. If you haven’t seen that yet then please check it out.
I’ve had a lot of time deliberating with myself about the changes I’ve made so far with each unit. As Ive stated many times before, I want each unit to feel impactful without snowballing with just your favorites. I don’t want to necessarily force you to use other units, but I want you to consider different scenarios and how you can vary playstyle.
I’ve also been practicing with Thracian tilesets for a VERY special map later on. I’m aiming for (hopefully) a custom tileset for this and potentially for other maps as well.
I added some other QOL stuff such as listing generations for each unit.
(Generation Gaidens will now be more approachable to those who don’t follow Hololive, along with their rewards)
I’ve also spent some time porting and getting some new music added in. There’s occasional snippets and clips of progress here on this playlist. Recent songs added include Bluerose and Shallys.
Thats all for now. Thank you guys for continuing to follow the journey for a thousand Seisos. And as always, the Search for Seiso continues!
I actually finished the game! It is so enjoyable so I’m gonna play it again and use other characters (on yabai mode this time) I’m shocked that i killed the demon king on 1 turn, i used flare (gunner class) with her riffle and i used miko to warp her near the demon king, then flare crit-killed the demon king and that’s that. This is such a good story, if there’s a sequel I’m definitely playing it.
Also idk if it’s a bug but i said it before that my game freezes on chapter 21x5 after escaping, after the part where the characters get their reward or stat boost after killing their clone/mimics. I’ve tried it again and again but it’s still the same. The thing i did to get past that chapter is i didn’t kill any of the clone (sad though cause i didn’t get the items they have) And that was hard, took me a lot of tries and the one that worked is using sleep sword/lance so the clones don’t get in the way. Anyway, I’m just telling it here in case I’m not the only one who experienced it.
Not sure if a known bug or not but triggering support c between Luna and Subaru loads default fe8 support(marisa and someone, been a while since played vanilla fe8) with portraits of Sora and Azki on the screen
supports that are not fully implemented (list in original post) don’t have properly functioning convos so you either get no convo or leftover data from vanilla
Hello! Probably noob question, but which is the proper GBA rom to patch this game on? Googling for “FE8” gives the “The sacred stones” version. Is that the right one?
Edit: Follow-up question: I got the FE8 (looked it up, Sacred Stones seems to be the right one) dotgba file and the dotups file from here. Trying to patch it with NUPS gives the error message that the patch doesn’t match the file.
Edit 2: Ok, solved it, needed a different version of the dotgba file (us instead of eu)
Sometimes giving in to your bad ideas brain is worth it
Also finally a fully streamed Ironman run of this game given that I didn’t record my previous one and have pretty much no existing footage of it. Feel free to watch the messed up strats I end up resorting to like Reine’s sword rank and rally speed RTA speedrun and turning chapter 10 into Tower of Valni Floor 1.

This was also an opportunity for me to try and do some bugfixes to the game and because of my Bad Ideas Brain™ i ended up making it a bit more redux-y. I plan on releasing a patch soon (with blessings from Ru i guess), tho I’m still finetuning out some bugs atm. Basically expect the following:
