@KrashBoomBang

Thanks again for this short hack, additional story about what happened around Daltry and the King was really nice.

Gameplay on hard was way better balanced this time around so no problems there. No crashes at save points either, pretty smooth gameplay.

Next hack WHEN???, Ill be w8ting.

Fav char: Sarah, so strong!! :ok_hand:

This was pretty cool, I both appreciate Daltry a lot more now, but I also hate him a lot more now as well.

Seeing him go from genuinely trying to talk these problems out in the beginning, to seeing his boss conversation with Lionel just frustrates me. He wanted the nobles to listen, and now when he does have one listening, he refuses it.

I understand how he got there. Literally every one of them in this hack is an asshole, even the knights at the end, but it doesn’t justify turning Lionel down. He’s never met the man, and has judged him based off the actions of other.

Beaten the game in a couple of days on hard mode, had a fun time overall. This rom hack’s sweet and short, and I recommend people to try it out if they enjoyed playing Four Kings.

Anyways, the story is rather simple, but it’s easy to follow and understand. Watching how things started going down progressively, eventually leading to a full blown rebellion and us getting to know the extend of suffering commoners are subjected to in Askia was entertaining to say the least.

As for gameplay, it’s nothing too different from 4K. You are expected to make full use of your tools and items. This is especially encouraged with the fact that 7+ enemies drop items every map, and the fact that there are only 8 chapters total to play through, heavily discouraging hoarding. Your units usually get 2 rounded (unless you’re Lars, Joseph, or some other unit with either terrible speed or great bulk), which means Player Phasing should be taken very seriously if you want to succeed. After all, every non-generic unit at your disposal is a game over condition.

Nonetheless, the game still gives you freedom on how you can tackle maps, or which units you want to give more exp to. This game has been made with 0% growths in mind, so I didn’t really have to worry about splitting exp equally or thinking about the ideal unit to give most kills to. The game gets easier the more you progress if you’re playing with growths on, but I’d say Chapter 3 is a difficulty spike. I might just be bad at video games, but it took me 4-5 tries to finally figure out a way to recruit Lars and move on with the map.

Down below, I will be posting the units that performed the best in my playthrough, in order of appearance in-game.

The game’s main character. Very versatile, very good stat booster target. I’m pretty sure he has +2 speed and strenght over his average at his level (Gave him an energy ring and a speedwing). Gets one of the most broken weapons in the game at the beginning of chapter 7. He can take down multiple enemies during enemy phase thanks to it and his good bulk.

Playable sniper in a game where bows are incredibly useful, and with an unparalleled speed stat that lets her mow down faster enemies that are harder to deal with. Short bow op

Axe hero and a mage killer at the same time. She struggled to hit enemies from time to time, but she was one of my best combat units and tanks throughout the whole game. Mages hate her!

20 con Druid with good defense and 100 hit Nosferatu. For some reason got three speed level ups on a 15% growth. He starts with D rank staves but I decided to train him until he got B rank. Best user of the status staves and physic if you put in the effort. Trivializes entire sections of maps if enemies in those areas do not double him.

What can I say, joining with a second brave bow and longbow at base, having 8 mov, canto AND being fast enough to quad most enemies in the final two maps, one rounding them, is just unfathomably good. I’m surprised that I enjoyed using a generic unit more than the other 8 non-generics I had lol

To end this post, I’d like to mention once again that I really recommend people to play this rom hack, as it provides more insight into Four King’s plot, and the maps are generally fun to play (aside from chapter 3 yet again, you have to play as fast and aggressive as possible to succeed). Hard mode could be too much for many people, but normal mode makes enemies lose 5 autolevels compared to hard. That is all.
