Twenty years have passed since the defeat of the Black Queen, Brecilien, and all is well. The thrones of Velia and Palnata are soon to be joined in marriage, ensuring peace will reign across the Twin Isles forevermore. The Black Queen’s granddaughter, Bronwyn, has spent her entire life sequestered away from the world, awaiting her destined marriage to a man she has never met; now she emerges, to return to the homeland she has never known.
Homecoming is the second custom campaign made by Not Quite Rodents – consisting of Parrhesia and Lumi – and the third with Parrhesia as lead designer, after Drums of War and Dream of Five. At its core, Homecoming is a thought experiment. What might FE6 have looked like if FE6 didn’t exist? What are other ways the series could have developed, while staying true to the direction of a stripped-down, back-to-basics game with a high degree of intertextual referencing?
It will contain 25 chapters, of which 12 are currently playable and currently circulating in closed testing. There is a playable cast of 54, none of whom have or will have written supports, multiple of whom have between zero and one line in the story. An ironman or bronzeman approach is encouraged, but not enforced, and there is a turnsave option as in DoW/Do5. There will be a tight, focused, character-driven narrative in a new setting, while all mugs are created from scratch by the unmatchable Lumi to create an established and consistent aesthetic (which will in time include the full UI).
You will face tough formations, varied and difficult objectives, the simple pressure of time. But you shall also have powerful tools of your own to turn the tide. Every mage at your disposal has a unique Prf with hugely varied effects, while you are also given many powerful hard-counter weapons. It will be a challenge, but the bold and cunning will find a way to prevail.
