[FE8] Fire Emblem 8 - "Anything Goes" (Crimson Edition) [Finished]

Hello again everyone, as you can probably guess from the title this is a new PME for The Sacred Stones that focuses on an “Anything Goes” style, based on CelestiaHeart’s own projects of the same name. In this one specific case, it’s exactly what it sounds like: “Anything Goes” as far as edits of units, classes, weapons, etc, within the boundaries of FEGBA.

Let’s get right down to business with the rules, this time there’s very few:

  • Two Submissions / Reservations per user per day. NPCs are free.

  • Growths: 305% Regular / 255% Pre-Promo / 355% Lords-Trainees-Dancer-Manakete
    The above mentioned growths are estimate, can be a little higher or lower.

  • Boons/Banes: 5/5 HP-Luck, 4/4 Con, 3/3 Str-Mag-Skl-Spd-Def-Res.
    Can pick up to three boons, so long as you also pick three banes.

  • Skill System Implemented: Pick all of the skills you’ll need for units that you’ll submit.
    A limit of six skills is the maximum that can appear on the status screen of each unit.

  • Event Changes can only be requested if it’s within the possibilities and limits of FEGBA.

All of the rest of edits will be made by other users, so as to truly make this a “Pick My Edits”. The only edit me myself made was implementing the most up to date SkillSystem from FEBuilder, so that all of the proper mechanics that I know everyone loves and needs is implemented; like the Str/Mag Split, the aforementioned Skills (with a list below so it’s easy to pick and choose), and several QoL patches already for the base FE8. Again, all of the rest of the edits will be made by other users, as I’ll be listing them in the first list below. Have Fun!

Gameplay Changes
  • SkillSystem Implemented, alongside the following QoL patches that already come with it: Map Danger Zone, ExModularSave w/Supply 200, Battle Stats w/Anims Off, HPBars w/Warnings, 16_Tracks_12_Sounds for new songs, and NarrowFont. (CrimsonFox)
  • Thieves can equip Daggers. Works exactly like Fates, 1-2 Range while debuffing specific stats after combat. Full list >here< (CelestiaHeart/Shadow_the_halberdier)
  • The Fates weapon triangle will also be fully implemented. (CelestiaHeart)
  • All promotion items are merged into single, universal Master Seals. (CelestiaHeart)
  • Extra Dragonstones will be implemented. Full list >here< (Starshadow_Melody)
  • All Trainee classes have Aptitude as a class skill, which is then lost upon their auto-promotion once reaching level 10. (Shadow_the_halberdier)
  • Vanilla’s Rogue replaced with the Trickster class. (Shadow_the_halberdier)
  • Leadership Stars mechanic, coming together with the SkillSystem, is implemented. Units replace one of their skill choices with their selection of L-Stars. (ItsJustin)
  • Cavalier’s 2nd promo option changed from Great Knight to Ranger. (CelestiaHeart)
  • Manaketes gain a new promotion called Dragonborn. (Starshadow_Melody)
  • Soldiers gain a new promotion called Sentinel. (Shadow_the_halberdier)

  • Paladin Class Skill = Canto (ItsJustin)
  • Great Knight Class Skill = Canto (ItsJustin)
  • General Class Skill = Sturdy Stance (ItsJustin)
  • Hero Class Skill = Sol (Shadow_the_halberdier)
  • Mortal Savant Class Skill = Resolve (Shadow_the_halberdier)

In order to truly make this a “Pick My Edits”, I’ll not be posting anything after this topic, only progress announcements (since surely there’s no need for the OP to post about information on the very trusted submissions). And anything will be implemented regardless if it need fixes or not to properly work, only exception is if it would freeze the game.

Oh, cool to see a hack inspired by my own PME! I hope to see some mechanic changes.

Only difference is mine didn’t use boons/banes lol.

Mechanic change 1: Give thief classes daggers instead of swords

Mechanic change 2: Merge all magic types into Tomes and add a Fates weapon triangle

Mechanic change 3: Replace promo items with Master Seals. Also PLEASE forbid submitters from adding extra master seals I beg of you :slight_smile:

Magic homogenization bothers me, so I’d like to counter 2 here. Assuming mechanic changes are in play. I don’t see anything about it in the OP, so I sort of assume not. They uh… they get contentious anyway, so it’d probably be for the best.

I’d also like to reserve Fomortiis. However, I will be sitting on Fomortiis until a bunch of characters have custom classes. This may give away what I want to do for Fomortiis, as I have done it in the past.

It’s an “Anything Goes” PME so mechanic changes are fair game.

I should probably release in that case, because I do not forsee that ending well.

If I don’t, then if magic types are homogenized into tomes, Ireone will not be able to gain new weapons on promotion, as Adult Tiki only has dragonstone and magic animations, and I have no intention of holding Ireone’s dragonstone back until post-promotion.

It also just Feels Wrong having 4 or more weapons that use one stat while only one weapon that uses the other.

Trust me, monotype tomes are fine. They’re handled well in later FEs. There aren’t any problems that arise from having only one magic type.

I recommend having personal tomes if you want to differentiate your units from one another.

*clears throat* I don’t want to have my unit’s PROMOTION feel worse. Transforming animations that have both magic and non-magic non-dragonstone animations include Vergil, and Vergil.

This is already within the bounds of a Single unit.

That’s tricky to work around.

You could have a personal tome locked to their promoted class or use a skill to differentiate the two. Hopefully you find something that works.

actually that’s a good point, there’s extra class lock patches floating around, we could just use those to re-lock light, anima, and dark to the appropriate classes and sages(for example) get, like, a smoothing to their weapon rank progression? Eh, it’s less levers to pull, I still don’t like it but a compromise is a compromise.

Gearhead Dragon back. As long as we’re considering rewrites, Ireone’s a very different person from Eirika. Smug, and doesn’t really have her own sense of right and wrong- though she’s fairly practical. She’s pretty cheery even in the fight, and it takes a lot to make that smile fade. She does her best to be a good friend, even if she’s a bit prone to being cruel towards her enemies- and can lose track of collateral risks without a second opinion. She’s full of curiosity and possesses a willingness to experiment that lends itself well to the machines she likes to tinker with.

The Firestone, Icestone and Darkstone uses the Strength->Def attack stat.
