[FE8] [Complete] Fire Emblem: Vision Quest (v3 by Pushwall - 1-Oct-22)

Also on the desert map I obtained a rapier, member card, light rune, a heretic spear, maybe a divine idr. Am I missing anything?

Encountered a minor oddity on 2-3: Osane and Natsuko have a talk conversation but only Osane can initiate it, it doesn’t even show for Natsuko.

@bryanxwu24 - i think that is just about everything. I think if you view the desert items as bonuses rather than essential to grab, you’ll have a better time on the map.

@aegir - Good catch - I’ll get this fixed and updated in a new version soon. It looks like I set up the space for the event, but forgot to actually add in the convo for the 2 way conversation.

@BBHood217 - thanks for sharing, I see this issue tends to happen more with VBA than mGBA. Glad to hear you got through it.

This is one of my most favorite hacks ever.

So when starting 4-5 the screen blacks out while what I’m assuming the instructions for the chapter are being displayed. I can click through them and the screen will revert to normal after but I have no idea what those instructions said. Could I get a brief rundown on what they were? I’m using John GBA btw

Sorry about that - putting together some fixes for a new patch.

You just need to keep the green units alive and you’ll receive a reward. You can break them out of the cells and they’ll run to the escape point, too.

Sorry, but what is a “Telius styled support”?

Support points are gained chapter by chapter, so simply deploying the two supporting units will give you a fixed amount of progress towards unlocking a support.

This means you do not need to keep units adjacent to each other for X number of turns.

Once a support unlocks, you’ll be able to view the convo and get the bonuses next time they’re both deployed together.

Brilliant design on your part. The traditional GBA style of having to keep units adjacent for supports was tedious to say the least.

Is this meant to be the background? It’s the scene at the end of 2-3x. I didn’t do anything funky in the battle I think, the last hit was on the male berserker with Helga who levelled up afterwards.

Nope, that’s a glitched background. This was reported to me earlier, I’ll be pushing out a fix with updates soon.

Hi all - another week, another update. Few more notable changes and bug fixes - you can get the patch in the first post.

Changes

  • 2-3x mid-chapter event should work now if you defeat the boss before turn 5, it got borked again (my bad).
  • 2-3x end event’s background is fixed.
  • 2-3x desert items now operate the same as those in 2-3, they are no longer luck based and you should get them automatically (this was an oversight).
  • Storch has a solo ending now if you didn’t get an A support with any of his partners. Additionally, Anisa and Kusuma now have a paired ending.
  • Removed crit from shine and divine (oversight) and buffed hit to compensate.
  • @anon98251803 updated a number of tunes, including Begin Quest (the title track, which now loops!), Coo the Owl (part 1 boss theme, also now loops), and a few others.
  • A new secret shop was added. I’ll leave it to you to find out where it is.
  • 4-6 now plays Cosmic Wall on player phase.

Enjoy and be safe!

Wait, there were items in 2-3x? Aw, crap.

Nothing there that you wouldn’t be able to get elsewhere, so you’re good!

Okay so I got mGBA. does anyone know if a save file is transferable from one emulator to the next?

Yes - it should be. Try “load alternate save” or renaming the .sav file to match the ROM.

Hi. Loving the hack. One thing - I’m on Chapter 19 where it says you get something if you protect all the wood. There only appears to be 6 pieces of wood which I keep safe but when I finish the level the dialogue between Storch and Esfir says I didn’t keep it all safe and I get no item. Am I missing something?

Thanks for reporting - this should be fixed on the version I uploaded this morning. Can you try patching a fresh ROM and loading your save with it?

You should’ve gotten the reward, but the logic I had was incorrect. Apologies!

Is there still a limit of 5 support conversations per unit or can I get as many as I want?

It’s 5 per unit since the bonuses would’ve gone a little overboard otherwise.

The support viewer is unlocked from the start so you can go into the Extras menu and read all of them.
