I thought it was sarcasm?
I want to address the confusion around my previous comment. It seems that some people may have misunderstood my sarcasm, and for that, I apologize. I was primarily referring to the initial thread that sparked the exaggerated discussion. I understand that tone can be difficult to convey through text, and I value clear communication. Moving forward, I will make an effort to ensure that my intent is more apparent.
I wholeheartedly agree – it’s truly a masterpiece. Let’s try to steer clear from starting a thread about how overhyped a hack is.
i miss when bait used to be believable
Should have put “/sarc”
Is Vision Quest actually not a masterpiece?
…no, they just don’t get it or don’t want to get it.
how did you get it working for delta? wont give me option to open
Did you patch the ups patch onto an FE8 ROM?
Hello! So I tried to redownload it like when I first did and yeah it seems not to work however-
(LINK REMOVED)
Do not link to pre-patched roms.
is the a patched version that also works on delta?
Discussion of pre-patched roms is against the rules of this forum. If you do not know how to apply a patch, read this guide.
The first time through, everything seems well and good. Save chickens, save logs, fun times were had. But on subsequent times, I noticed something.
The story doesn’t hit me as hard as it should, and I eventually discovered why. It’s all in the delivery, and most of the time VQ does it merely simply. Most scenes are just talking portraits where deaths are depicted with only a remove_portrait without even any accompanying sound effect. Map events where you see units move around and fight are rare, too rare if you ask me. A couple of flashback events could’ve been elevated higher if they had map events.
I bring this up because other hacks, even ones that predate VQ, make use of map events for their stories. The best example of this is the infamous “how much weight can you handle” scene from The Last Promise. Can you imagine if that was done with only talking portraits? It probably wouldn’t be the legend it is today if that were the case.
I am aware that there’s no more intention to update VQ, so the story delivery will remain as is. Which I suppose is fine because the rest of the game is still great. Any improvements can just be made in future projects, and I look forward to those.
This hack really visioned my quest
I tried that nothing is working
Did you try an alternative emulator? Apologies, I don’t know have a good sense of what else could help resolve this.
@Adamiibo you may try 44VBA.org for a similar emulator to delta. I had issues with delta (not the same issue, actually I played through VQ without any issues) and I switched to 44VBA. It’s browser based as well so should be functionally equivalent to delta!
I’ve tried using search on this topic with minimal results: is there a guide for secret items/etc outside the recruitment guide? I found the one guide to desert items but I know there are other items on other maps.
should be in the OP
I’m feeling kind of dumb because I’ve read over the op post a few times now and don’t see it. I see the desert map stuff, the recruitment and the gaiden requirements but nothing for secret shops or secret items on non-desert maps.
I’d recommend cracking the hack open in febuilder and taking a look if you need the locations.
