I made a proof-of-concept hack that replaces the 7 weapon types with elements.
There are 8 chapters in total, and the general design philosophy is centered around “core FE gameplay” (combat & action economy) and being forced to split your army. I’m very proud of how it turned out and I think it’s really enjoyable.
Although this game has no dialogue or narration, technically there is a story if you play through to the end.
Niamh is your Lord and a Dancer. She can use every weapon type but supports with no one. The reason I chose her is because I wanted to immortalize some part of Fire Emblem Cipher and I think it’s an important component of the series’ legacy.
The other 28 units (4 of each element) gain a +3 bonus to their Hit/Avoid for each additional unit of the same element you have deployed, up to +9 for having all 4 on the map. Think of it as element-exclusive leadership stars. This is what their S supports signify, and yes the range is global.
The weapon triangles are:
- Fire > Wind > Thunder > Water > Fire
- Light > Dark > Earth > Light
- Bonus/penalty is +/-10 hit, +/-2 damage.
Other Basic Info
- The preparations screen Armory is the only shop in the game. You can buy stat boosters & staves from it.
- All of your units are treated as promoted in terms of EXP gain. They do not promote.
- Besides one Gotoh-style unit obatined in the Final chapter, you start with all 29 playable units right from the Prologue.
- If you don’t like resetting for lost units, feel free to save your stat boosters to bring untrained units up to par as replacements.
- Clearing the Final chapter sends you back to the Prologue with your army’s power level retained. Think of it as New Game+ where you can try another playthrough with weak units you haven’t trained yet, or the same units as before, or a combination of both.
- Check your Supply after clearing the Prologue for 2 copies of each generic weapon.
Known Bugs
- Occasional minor transient visual bugs.
- This isn’t a bug but Apocalypse is just using Gleipnir’s animation for now, unless someone feels like giving me Apocalypse’s anim directly so I don’t have to download Klok’s entire asset repo.
Enjoy!
