Nope, good catch. Updated the patch with the fix.
There are also gunnels preventing Pilar’s party from accessing the rest of the map. Other than that, chapter is good, but man is it brutal to play. 12 turns just feels like too few, but I’m not giving up yet.
Ah, those are definitely meant to be pillars, but it looks like an identical tile was used instead. Fixed that as well. I think the map won’t be as tough with Pilar’s group able to contribute, but it is meant to be on the hard side.
Uh, recruiting Windy crashes my game.
Well, it’s two parts. First, I should also mention defeating Alonso first actually ends the map. The second part is the promoted armors on the boss ship blocking the way to the bosses and the very scary sleep staff, and making it really hard to progress on that final stretch. I did win, but it took some rng and heavy abuse of skills and my good, rare weaponry and staves (mainly rescue and mortar).
The Windy crash is something that I’ve seen from others, but I can’t replicate it myself (and some fixes that should be in this patch apparently did fix it for another player, so unsure what the cause is). Alonso fix should be quick, though.
Otherwise, glad to hear you got through Chapter 3: this is typically the chapter where I promote as many units as possible, since there’s no level reset. Otherwise, it can be pretty challenging with all the units spread out to get through it quickly.
Man, I feel very dumb for not having promoted anyone then. I mean, I won, but like… I don’t have many promo items.
Edit: Apologies for the reply spam, I’m just absolutely loving this.
Makes sense that it was pretty tough, then. You can get 6 potentially up to this point: 4 are steals off of bosses (3 of them in Chapter 2) and 2 are directly given.
I’m now sad, Hermen just left me…
What level do you reccomend promoting units at?
None in particular, but when I’m testing, I always promote in Chapter 3 start event, and units are around Level 15 at that time.
So for B-2, I’m guessing the actual murderer can not be recruited at all?
Correct. You’ll always have to face them as a boss, no matter who you choose.
B-2 Spoilers
I really wish I could get that skill as a scroll or something.
Edit: I know that’s not super telling as to who the murderer is, but some people would probably figure it out from this.
In C-2, the house you can visit is only open on the first turn, and then it can no longer be visited.
Looks like it had the wrong flag: fixed that on my end. Thanks for the report.
C-1 Dilemma (Spoilers)
I don’t know what to do with Hermen here. Do I get him back if I send him away? He’s one of my best units, I don’t understand what doing this could be for.
Post chapter (More Spoilers)
Okay, now I see the point, but if I’m honest, I think it hurt him more than it helped, since I has already promoted him.
I’m not sure how it could hurt? He gets staves, something he wouldn’t have otherwise, and hets to dial more into Mag like he wants.
Well, he lost some stats, but yeah you right. I did lose a magi ring though, so that sucks, but oh well.
Okay, so after my two playthroughs, I have some general observations and more specific gripes with specific characters, but let it be known that this hack is FANTASTIC. I’m literally playing it again right now just because I had that much fun. Maps are great, skill are cool, characters are interesting and there’s so much diversity in maps and units. It’s really, really good.
Now onto the less good parts (in my opinion).
First, the Savior class and Estelle. I just don’t quite get the point of a class that can’t defend itself in any way, even if it does come with canto+. Estelle is really just not very good compared to other healers, and removing any ability for her to defend herself makes it hard to commit to her.
Second, Indio. Just Indio. Indio is, quite honestly, a high risk low reward unit that feels hard to use in any situation. Low bulk to start, no speed, and low dex meaning the surge tome is basically their only real usable weapon. I understand that the trade-off is getting doubled makes them much stronger, but if they never hit or don’t have the usual benefit of tomes (being 1-2 range) and they can’t take a hit either, so their skill is just kinda useless.
Third (and last, because there’s really not that much to complain about), but also quite possibly the most important… promotion items are just… too rare. More than that, the item limiting the possible promotion prevents the player from being able to promote units in the way they want, or at least that’s what I found. For example, the classes I wanted to put my units into were just not possible due to the limited amount of Magi Rings and Brave Crests. I wanted Fata to be a Slayer, Ondeh to be an Adventurer, Razvan to be a Sage… but I didn’t have the items to do all of that. I didn’t actually have the items to promote any of these units, actually. Razvan’s studying with Hermen did not pay off (joke), and that just is kinda unfortunate.
