Pirates and Fire Emblem. I had a dream about a hack like this once, and now it’s coming true!

Having fun with this one but noticed the dialogue at the end of A-4 is messed up. It happened during Catila’s (or however she’s spelt) dialogue. Some of it was too long for the box. Then it autoskipped on a very skinny box and lastly it appeared in a little tiny box where it was cut off and overlapped itself. It was the first time I’d seen dialogue do that last thing. I stupidly didnt take pictures though.

Hello! A bug, in A-4, too
The second ship entered the fray, in turn 7, and right after I opened the lower chest on the first ship, and something broke
Lua opened the chest

It made so some of my characters, like razvan are stuck, but luckily it’s just him and Lua
I’m enjoying this hack so much! Thank you for making it
Edit: I’ve arrived at the bug the previous person mentioned, so here’s a picture of it

Edit edit: I got to the continue to chapter 2, but I did the last mission, and now I just can’t go forward
Help? I’m stuck in hub a, after clearing every mission there

Apologies for the bugs. Do you mind specifying a little with the Chapter 2 issue? Did you manage to get to Chapter 2 (the map in the cave), or did you get stuck in Hub A before that?

I got stuck in hub a, with no missions to do, and not being able to advance to chapter 2
If you need the save file, I have it, by the way

Sure, the save file would be useful. Normally, standing on the green tile in Lua’s office would end the Hub, but it’s possible that there’s a check that isn’t working correctly.

Hello! I got the rings for promotion, but it’s a bit tedious going one by one and checking which characters can use which
Could you make a graphic, or write it out?

At some point, I intend to put promotion info on the third page of the stat screen, but you can look at this file which has a list of every promotion for each of the items.

Will there be animation for our lovely captain?

I don’t really have the skill to make one myself, but maybe eventually.

Thank you very much!

Understandable. Shes a cool class though

Hello again! I finished the demo, barely killing the boss on the last turn, and it was so much fun!
I do have a question, I’ve lost units quite a few times over the demo, and they all came back
I noticed some got their levels reset, and some didn’t
Is that intentional? And is the casual mode forced?
I love the characters so much, and their skills make them all so distinct… It’s amazing
Thank you for making this!
I’ll be continuing to play and praise this hack!
Actually, is there any way I can help or donate to you? I don’t have any hack making skills, so sorry for that

That’s an… interesting bug, because this shouldn’t have casual mode. If I had to guess, some unit groups that are used for preparations are being loaded in improperly, but I’d have to check through and see what’s going on. Glad you enjoy the hack: honestly, the best way to support is just doing that (and reporting bugs, like this one, ha). Also: which specific units died, and when? That would help me narrow down the issue.

Ximo died multiple times, bartz, razvan, durgham, quite a lot did
There was another thing, when I tried checking units’ con, the whole game broke
Glad to help!

Just played a chapter of it and i really like the skills, quite different and still simple.
Have to say i’m not a fan of overcomplicated skills.

I literally came here just to say this! :sob:

I finally had the down time to try the game out after gettijg it a couple weeks ago or so, and everyone had animations but her so I wasn’t sure if it was a bug or not! Please SOMEONE make one, I beg :sob::pray:t3:

How have people not jumped on this when it’s such a unique romhack that has GUNS, and not just for the sake of it, (like some ripoff type games selling themselves as “Pokémon but with guns”), but with PURPOSE. And in a FITTING setting.
I’m surprised ppl aren’t lining up to be the one to give her an animation quite frankly :joy:
Honestly… Playing this makes me think, ya know… When you have games like Awakening… Echoes even, where you’re dealing with maps that have ships, and pirates especially. Like how do GUNS NOT EXIST??? Echoes I guess yeah, it’s set way further back in the past, right? So guns wouldn’t have been invented yet. But even Fates feels like it would have had enough advancement in arms that guns should exist, right!!! Awakening definitely should too. Maybe in the future Lucina came from they had guns? :joy:
Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn feel like settings that should have guns. (Tho I say this as someone who hasn’t played the games yet. Hopefully with the Switch 2 (SUPER HYPE!) that will change in the near future… ) But just like… muskets/old-fashioned guns AT LEAST.
Gunpowder is so easy to make. And we have S-class mages, masters of magic like all throughout history! Some metal, some wood maybe, some gunpowder and steel balls, later advanced to become sharper, sleeker, more bullet-like, even create exploding/incendiary bullets… And you have a bona-fide gun! You’d think they’d have tons of magic-powered ones as well! Not like the ones in Feh necessarily, though that’s an interesting thing to point out as well.

And in Engage… EVERY lord from the mainseries games which came before it in terms of release, which are canonically chronologically predating it as well obviously… You gotta think. Wouldn’t guns have been invented by now AT THE VERY LATEST!!! Like come onnnnn

I get why they don’t wanna have guns in the game. Maybe it’s to be more “family-friendly” or they don’t wanna promote guns or upset certain parents or put themselves on the radar of certain groups of people. It’s Nintendo after all. Maybe they are simply telling them “no guns”. Shit idk.

But even then. We have Pirates of the Caribbean… Peter Pan, which deal with pirates, and are watched by kids and adults alike. Both of which had guns present. I’m PRETTY SURE. Cut me some slack tho I aint watched Peter Pan in over a decade

Not to mention this is a franchise that has very mature themes. Violence, torture, killing, racism, the classic cest. So like… Guns? Guns are the thing they choose not to or are forbidden from involving in Fire Emblem?

This game is just very thought-provoking at its core. And I love that. It’s like an alternate universe of Feh where they invented guns in a more realistic progression. Also another thing I am quite sure of is that in the real world, steel bows or silver bows were not created before the very first gun. I could be so wrong on that, sure. I will google to make sure, but later. Lol. But yeah just funny to me. It’s not that deep though, just their way of having levels for the weapons I guess.

Great game. I’m interested so far. But is Carmen supposed to have mild giraffe-neck btw?

One small criticism I have, which maybe ya can change my mind on (*or I can revisit the scene later when I’m more well-rested and cognitive function is at peak XD), is that the beginning scene felt like it was never gonna end. I felt like they were just droning on after the Poker part. It could be that it’s late and I’m tired*. But you sorta lost me in the middle of it and I wasn’t sure what the hecc they were talking about. And it felt a little idk, reserved/wishy-washy. Like they were so sensitive and the way they were speaking is like they’re afraid to hurt each other’s feelings. That’s the best way I can put it. I just wasn’t feelin it. Maybe that’s just me. I’m not sure I can sit thru an entire game if that’s how eeeverryyy character talks. I mean well. All love. If you can’t tell already  This whole post is like a love letter to you/your game lol. If it gets better, please tell me now. :pray:t3:

Same with the interaction between the cap and the first boss pirate. It came off as a little more dignified than realistic. Maybe that’s just his character? Or I’m completely missing something. (I have high-functioning autism) Could be he’s a pirate full of vanity, I did kinda get that vibe from 'im. And less of an illiterate ruffian or scallywag type of pirate, you know what I mean? I’m just sayin it seemed a bit much for a throwaway enemy npc. Unless…?*². But if the goal is to have more memorable bosses. Hey, I’m all for that (: *² If he is recruitable, for some reason? That would be cool. I won’t lie. That’s the impression I got. We’ve had that in the past with many FE games, and games in general. It’s a beloved archetype. So much of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, Super, had that. And Vegeta is one of my favorite characters of all time! We love a villain with redeeming qualities that joins the side of the good guys (or simply that of the protagonist’s) Just a thought I guess. If he isn’t brought into the main cast, I’m not mad. Well, not too much anyway jkjk.

I think this write-up is quite long enough though. I should call it haha

Please don’t take this the wrong way. Just bein honest and sharin my thoughts and some criticisms I have that are hopefully a little insightful or if they’d be helpful at all, I’d be happy.

Going back to that, I’ll keep it brief. It’s just. Yk for me. When you have friends, you don’t hold back. That’s what being friends means. And these are companions right? They all live by the sword TOGETHER. I don’t think they’d worry about hurting each others’ feelings or offending. You can be thoughtful without doing that. And it doesn’t NEED to be vocalized, in my humble opinion. If you feel strongly about something, even if it’s a friend you’re talking to, you’ll tell them like it is. But honestly if it’s just his character (the healer I mean), then there is much room for character development, and for him to stop being afraid of his own shadow over time and become brave, courageous, have a stronger heart and mind, and even resolute perhaps. If that were the case, and it’s all been done with intent, I would applaud you and take back all I said on that matter and apologize profusely :bowing_woman: “I’m sorry I wasn’t familiar with your game” type shit.
Said I’d keep it brief, hopefully that’s not too much more of an add-on. ig when it comes to me tho that is brief.:sweat_smile::sweat_smile: Cheers!

EDIT: Well something interesting just happened. Pilar was attacked by an archer and for some reason couldn’t counterattack. :face_with_raised_eyebrow::question:
But the knife was equipped which has range 1-2, bow being only range 2, and I checked, this archer has no special skill that would have caused this, like windsweep or something. Very weird. Here are a couple screenshots

Anyone else experienced this? I mean I’m not complaining. I’m happy to give the experience to Carmen instead! But definitely felt the need to report this bug! Thanks, have a great day!

Update 2: Well I’ll be damned!
Carmen went from gaining points in only Spd and Res after killing the archer, to THIS

from the other dude! That’s amazing! No Magic but that’s totally fine. A perfect level-up in my books!

I tried messing with the rng and moving units around to see if I could get a different stat pull from the Archer bc everyone else (I thought) KO’ed the other enemy in range so he wasn’t really on my radar. And after seeing that on this turn at least, and realizing that this wasn’t the case in terms of the RNG and level-ups, I was ready to just take the Spd and Res, it’s not horrible by any means, better than like… HP only lol. I was simply going to have her take the place of the Mercenary after Ximo took care of him, right? And just execute the Archer with Carmen. And then oops. He didn’t K.O. the Mercenary. Like just barely. So I decided I’d finish him off with Carmen to see if she’d still get the same stats or maybe something better or worse. And it was way way better. I’m such a tryhard with trying to get just decent growths on my units :sob: I’ll admit it. I abuse save states for this alone! And I have no shame ahaha, but even then it’s such a pain and a tedious task for sure, sometimes I just give up and I’m like fine I’ll take the HP and Skill, WHATEVER. :face_exhaling: I rarely see level-up screens this fantastic. Thank you Naga, or whoever the god is in this alternate universe of Fire Emblem ahaha :pray:t3:
This should be my last update for this post. But I can’t make any promises. But okay I’ll try. I know it’s already so long it could be put on a paper scroll cx
I hope my luck stays this bright for the rest of the game with minimal save state abuse hehe

Thanks for the writeup! One note: The lack of a counterattack in your edit isn’t a bug. Bows beat Knives, and this game has Engage’s Break system, so you can’t counter if you take a hit at WTD (unless you are an armor).

Ah, alright, good to know! Thank you! That’s really cool actually! Makes it even more unique for a romhack! Wasn’t able to finish this first chapter yet, picked it back up today, and I thought it would be really cool if Carmen had the Pass skill, as a mage, but I think I encountered a real issue this time  It doesn’t seem to be functioning properly, it’s taking all her 6 Mov to get around these enemies, but technically she should have plenty remaining movement after getting to the tile behind them, no? Maybe it doesn’t take effect until the end of this battle, so the next one? I can start that shortly. Hopefully it works, but I will let you know if it still isn’t activating… Which would be a real bummer, but it is what it is. I admit I was a little hasty and impulsive with having her learn it ngl

Also she dodged a pretty high accuracy enemy attack. NICE! Which is otherwise pretty lethal.
