FE7 Maniac Edition

Well seeing how there’s been quite a few FE7 rebalance hacks recently, what the hell, here’s another. I worked on this one a little bit and liked how it turned out, so here it is. I suppose what makes this hack different is that it does a few major things most hacks don’t do.

  1. Eliwood is now a Lance Lord. Always thought it would be more fitting if Eliwood use Lances. It makes sense thematically with each Lord now gets apart of the weapon triangle. There’s also theories that suggest he should’ve been a Lance Lord to begin with. Well, if you want to play with Eliwood using Lances, this is your hack.

  1. Ephidel is now a boss you fight at dragon’s gate. A pretty popular request, but not many hacks that do this. Makes for a much more challenging chapter. Also comes with battles quotes with Eliwood, Hector, Lyn, and Mathew.

  1. Finally, difficulty/ mechanical changes that make it similar to FE6. It doesn’t take everything from FE6, like weapon hit rates or the weapon triangle, but it does raise enemy hard mode bonuses in a similar fashion to FE6. It also has 3x weapon effectiveness (excluding legendary weapons), 30 avoid throne/ gates, +25 crit boost (not 30 since you get 5 for S ranking in this game), and enemies have luck (except morphs).

All in all, I found this hack fun but also challenging. There’s also many other changes this hack does, like slight character buffs, class/ weapon/ chapter changes, etc. I will list all other changes below in another post.

Very few enemies have been changed, either with AI, weapon inventory, position, or composition, but again this is very minor.

Also, a handful of maps had a small map design change.

Ch 13x - Enemy Boss drops a Red Gem

Dread Isle, Monk drops a Shine instead of a Lightning

No level Requirements for Nils for Ch 19xx
Energy Ring over Dracoshield, Physic over Eclipse, Thieves will target chests

Ephidel is a Boss you fight at Dragon’s Gate, drops a fell contract

Secret Shop in Four-Fanged Offense has it’s Inventory changed/ In Lloyd’s Version, enemy Monk/ Bishop drops a Divine in Hard Mode

Crazed Beast, Karla is recruitable as long as Bartre is a Lv 1 Warrior, Earth Seal over Elysian Whip

Pale Flower of Darkness (Kenneth) Enemy Mage drops a Bolting in Hard Mode/ In Jerme’s Version, Enemy Warrior/ Sage drops a Speedwing, Karel comes with a Body Ring

Battle Before Dawn +1 Deployment Slot on Hard Mode, Ursula drops an Energy Ring

Night of Farewells, Sonja drops Fimbulvetr or Bolting

That’s certainly something I wouldn’t expect to see credited in an FE7 redux

Haha yea, I used it for the final chapter. I just think it fits the theme given all the bosses you fight, sort of like Golden’s Deer final chapter.

oh i am. also i saw a little bug or well not bug but gameflaw. When you pick eliwoods route and fight the first boss Gronzyi he has a swordreaver. Problem? He can’t use it XD his Axe level is D and the Axe is C

Got that fixed. Also made 1 small change so it works out. Thank you for pointing that out.

It seems like the Karla recruitment broke the Farina recruitment, since she just flies up to Hector and does nothing, unless she was made unplayable on purpose?

Oh no! Yea that wasn’t my intent, I’ll try to figure out a fix when I get chance later on today. I’m sorry about that.

So on mistake, I deleted the talk events with Farina. New patch fixes this issue. Thanks for letting me know.
