Well, at the end of the day, a splice chain will always derive from a vanilla portrait (Unless it’s a full custom portrait). I generally don’t do splices of other people’s portraits, and just use vanilla stuff for splicing. If I use someone else’s portrait, I just use it as-is, or do some minor edits, or a palette change. Though, I sometimes will use other people’s work as references, but not straight up splicing material.
At the end of the day, if I were to use someone’s work for splicing, I’d just try to credit as many people as I possibly can. And I think that’s the best we can do.
On the topic of credit… For single images, the repo just adds the creator’s username in the filename. But IDK if that’s the best in the longrun. Is it possible to give metadata to PNG files the same way you can with audio files?
Only a few of them have the jpeg artifacts or other such jank from what I found, I’ve inserted a bunch with the only major changes being the addition of frames
The first one posted (the black/silver hair sage looking character) is heavily based on an existing character with a few tweaks as a sort of warm up for myself since it had been so long since I last dabbled in sprite work with my B!Camilla sprite. The pink hair one and onward are original.
Odd I have used the same animation with no issue, so it seems unlikely it’s an issue with the animation itself, so perhaps this is an import issue or some corruption occurred elsewhere
I myself used the Magic.bin file to import the animation, if you used the .txt file that may be the cause of the issue as it could have an error.
I’ve never played any Shantae games so far (although I’ve been recommended the franchise several times), but the zombie girl using her own leg and head as a weapon was hilariously good. nice work!
