EDIT: Oops, turns out this is actually super easy to do via world map events. I wasn’t aware that the displayed army leader was as free-form as it is. Feel free to lock this.

In vanilla FE8, there are two possible characters who can represent the player on the world map; either Eirika or Ephraim, depending on whose route you’re on. Obviously, this means hacks can also potentially include up to two possible “representative characters” for the player on the world map.
What I’m wondering is if it’s possible to have a third (or fourth, or higher) character who can potentially represent the player on the world map. I know there’s a patch that allows you to expand the number of units capable of Seizing in chapters with that objective, but if there’s one that enables broader control over which unit represents the player on the world map, I’m not finding it.
Specifically, what I want to is make a setup that goes essentially, “Follow Lord A up until Plot Beat X happens, then follow either Lord B or Lord C for the rest of the game.” Granted, I don’t plan for “Lord A” to necessarily leave the story or even the party after “Plot Beat X” (at least not permanently), so I could always write things such that they continue “taking the lead” in one route but not the other, but I’m curious to know whether or not that will be necessary before committing to doing things one way or the other, because I do intend to use the World Map.
